(D/HN) = (Our) Dad's Heroname

I wake up bright and early for the entrance exams for UA high school.

"Mom, Dad! I'm going to get going now!" I say.

"Okay, I still don't understand why you would reject the recommendation and go through the normal exam..." my dad says.

"That's because I'm not Shoto," I say. "I'm not someone who deserves the recommendation letter. I'm just a normal high schooler, maybe a little weaker than normal, with a 5th best hero as a dad. I'm going to get in through my own power this time. If I don't, I probably just wasn't meant to do it."

"Alright," my mom says. "I hope you have lots of fun!"

"I hope you have fun too," my dad says and I have to look back, surprised.

I put my hand on my forehead to salute, "I will!" I say and laugh.

"Are you sure you don't want me to drive you?" my dad asks.

"I have legs that work perfectly! I can take the train, besides cars are for lame people that can't figure out directions themselves, bleh!" I say.

"Okay, okay," my dad says and laughs slightly. "Have fun (Y/n),"

"Uh-huh," I say and leave the house. There won't be anyone I know there because both Shoto and Momo got recommendation letters but I'll be able to manage alone. I need to be able to get through things without Shoto.

As soon as I reach the school, the atmosphere there is tense. No one says a thing as we all walk in with shivering arms and legs.

And out of all these scared, quiet people, I see one person with bright yellow hair speaking out his thoughts.

"AHHHH THEY ALL LOOK SO STRONG WHAT IF I DON'T MAKE IT??? WHAT IF THERE ARE WRITTEN TESTS??? I'M NEVER GONNA MAKE IT!!!" he screams.

And I'm sorry but the first thing that came to my mind was, 'he must be stupid'.

"A-are you alright?" I decide to ask. 'Geh, why am I trying to talk to him? I just thought that he was stupid 3 seconds ago!' I think.

"Wow! You're super cute!" he says.

'What? Is he trying to hit on me...?' I think, 'Okay maybe not. He's just stupid and flirty. Okay, that seems right. But what is he trying to achieve by randomly complimenting me? I don't know anymore, it's fine,' I think.

"Ahaha... thanks, I guess..." I say sweatdropping.

Then he smiles. The brightest smile I've seen today, no, maybe in my life. 'Now that I think about it, Shoto rarely smiles,' I think.

We talk for a little more while walking into the building before the introduction starts. We end up going to different venues for the written exam but he was super fun to talk to. I hope he gets into UA, I'll have a friend.

'No no, I have to make sure I get in before I worry about anyone else getting in.' I think, clearing up my arrogant thoughts.

The written test was fairly easy, at a level no one would fail miserably. Almost as if they were trying to relax us, saying, 'You'll be fine' but also making sure we don't relax too much.

After the 2 hours they gave us for the written test, we all moved to a model of a city for a practical test.

"THERE ARE DIFFERENT NUMBER OF POINTS FOR EACH ROBOT. THERE'S ONE ZERO POINT MONSTER, YOU DON'T GET ANY POINTS FOR IT." Present Mic quickly explains.

As I walk to the venue I was assigned to, I see the same guy from before. 'Oh that reminds me, I wanted to ask for his name...' I think.

"H-Hey!" I call out as I walk towards him. He looks like he has no more soul left. "How was your written exam???" I ask worriedly.

"Oh, the written exam? Aha... maybe I should just go home, I've probably already failed..." he says.

"HEY DON'T SAY THAT!" I yell. "You're gonna jinx it," I smile.

Kaminari POV

That surprised me. She didn't look like the type of person to yell, but it really helped me so I have to thank her. She has a nice smile...

"Thanks!" I say and smile. "That made me feel a lot better."

She looks at me with a surprised look on her face.

"Uhh... is there something on my face?" I ask sheepishly. 'Did I do something weird?'

"Oh! No, no. I was just thinking that you have a really bright smile. I thought that too when I first saw you this morning. People who smile are nice," she says and I have to blush a bit.

'She was thinking the same thing as me?' I think.

"Oh yeah, I wanted to get your name..." she says.

"Oh me? I'm Kaminari. Kaminari Denki," I say.

"Is your quirk electricity~?" she teases.

"Y-yeah, I know my name gives it all..." I say.

"Haha, oh my name's (L/n). (L/n) (Y/n)." she says. Wait a sec. (L/n)... (L/n)... (L/n)...

"AHHH YOU'RE RELATED TO (D/HN)???" I realize.

"SHHHHH," she says. "He's actually my dad, but I'm not strong at all so I wish to go on as just a normal student..."

"Oh, alright..." I say. 'She must be strong... I'm sure she's just saying that. Wow, but that's so cool...' I think.

"WE WILL GET STARTED! MAKE SURE YOU GET AS MANY POINTS AS YOU CAN WITHIN THE TIME LIMIT. MORE POINTS THE BETTER, GUYS!!!" Present Mic yells.

"Okay then. Good luck!" she says.

"Good luck to you too," I say. "But you probably don't need it so I'll steal all of your luck!"

"No don't! I seriously need as much luck as possible," she says.

"3, 2, 1, GO!" Present Mic yells.

(Y/n) POV

The doors open and we run into the venue. I don't want to use my quirk too much if I don't have to. I can reach my limit in minutes if I don't plan properly. I get close to a robot and try out if I can shoot through it with high-pressure water. It works.

'This is great, it doesn't take too much energy. I can do this,' I think and keep going until I see yellow sparks fly.

It's Kaminari using his quirk on a robot. 'It seems like he's doing well too...' I think and smile.

"Whey!" I hear and I look back to see what happened. Kaminari turned stupid.

"WHEY!" I laugh so hard my stomach hurts. I think I haven't laughed this hard in ages.

"See you later~," I say and get going.

"WHEY!" he says as a reply and I laugh a bit more. I'm sure he meant 'YEAH!'

I keep going until there aren't any more robots left and I'm on the ground, unable to stand up because of my limit. 'I hope I passed at least... I can't do any more...' I think. 'I have to wait until I feel better before I can move...' I sigh.

And right around the corner where I was on my knees, a huge robot came out. 'WHAT THE HECK IS THAT??? THE ZERO POINT ROBOT IS THAT LARGE? WHAT?' I think and try to get up but I only fall on my knees again. 'This is bad...' I think. 'And there's no one around me,' I try to get up again but I'm not doing any better than before.

"(L/n)-chan? Is that you?" I hear Kaminari call and turn around. "Hurry! You're going to get crushed!"

"I-I can't move," I say. Kaminari runs over and puts me on his back.

"Are you okay?" he asks me as he keeps running.

"Yeah, but why are you helping me?" I ask, simply curious.

"Why not??? I'm supposed to leave you there?" he says.

"Yes! This is an entrance exam! You're competing with me, you're competing with so many other people! And you can put me down, I'm heavy you're going to waste your energy!" I say.

"It's fine! Besides you're not that heavy. Hey! Was that an insult? Were you indirectly trying to say I was weak?" he asks.

"No, I meant it..." I mumble. "Have you gotten enough points?"

"Ahaha... I was only able to get rid of 7 robots. And I probably failed my written exam. Pretty lame isn't it?" he says a little sadly.

"No, I don't think so!" I say.

"Hey. Don't lie. A cool person would stop that huge robot, not run away from it while carrying someone," he says.

"I thought you were very cool!" I say, speaking the truth. "Sure, I know someone who could freeze the whole thing in a few seconds, but who said running away from something was lame?"

"You think running away is cool?" he sweatdrops and I have to sweatdrop back.

"Ah... okay, maybe it's not cool, maybe it's lame, but it's useful!" she says.

"It's very useful indeed," I say. "Okay, we'll go with that. Running away is lame but it's useful." (A/N does anyone know the manga/drama "Running away is lame but it's very useful"? Okay even if you don't, I think you get what I'm trying to say. Sorry I love references.)

We keep running until we're far enough from the robot and we suddenly hear an announcement that it's over. "Already???" we say in unison. We were going to go find more robots for Kaminari to get a few more points.

"I'm sorry. You weren't able to look for more robots because of me," I say sadly.

"Hey, it's fine! I had a lot of fun," he says.

"I hope both of us got in," I say.

"Me too!" he smiles.

I decide to smile back. "Yup!"

Later that week, I get an acceptance letter from UA.

"YES! I GOT IN!" I say happily. I'm so excited.

I get my phone and dial Shoto's number. "Hey Shoto, Shoto!" I say. "Guess what?"

"You seem happy," he laughs, "what happened?"

"I got in! I got into UA!" I say.

"Really? That's great. I knew you would do it though," he says.

"Thank you, Shoto!" I say. "I can't wait for school to start."

"Me too. But it's soon," he says.

"Yup!" I say. I'm so happy. I'll be going to the same school as Shoto again.
