Chapter Two: The Fortune Teller

Chapter Two: The Fortune Teller

With the realization that the two of them had been played by the people they came to the carnival with Jack and Carly didn't know what they were going to do now. Both could feel the tension in the air. After all, Jack had been doing all he could to avoid Carly. He didn't want to deal with the conflicted feelings that he was fighting against.

Carly on the other hand was trying to find the words to say to Jack. Knowing that he might have feelings for her since her confession when she was a Dark Singer. The two of them stood where they were in complete silence next to each other until Jack finally said something.

"Ai'm guessing you got played too? Coming here Ai mean."

"I don't know exactly what happened. I came here with Akiza, but then I suddenly lost sight of her. I hope she's alright."

"Looks like we were both set up from the very beginning. Those two idiots even dragged Akiza into their skims. Well, Ai guess we should just amuse them for a lit'l bit. What would you like to go do?"

Carly looked up at Jack with a flush surprised look on her face. "W-well, Akiza and I were going to get something to eat before I lost sight of her. Are you hungry Jack?" Carly asked, her face still slightly flushed.

"J-just a lit'l. Let's go."

Without thinking, Jack grabbed Carly's hand and starting leading her to the foot stand area. On their way many other stands tried getting their attention to either sell them something or have them have a go at a carnival game. Almost to the food stand area a proclaimed gypsy fortune teller lady suddenly approached Jack and Carly.

"My, my, you two have a bright future together. It's without a doubt that the two of you will bring each other great happiness. Would you like to know more?"

"What kind of rubbish are you trying to sell?!" Jack said in an irritated tone.

"Oh, a none believer of the arts of Fortune Telling I see, but I can sense that the lady believes in what I say. Come, I'll give the two of you a free reading. To show you what I see from the two of you. You're past, present and future, I'll be able to ready everything I need to know about you." The gypsy fortune teller opened up her tent to allow Jack and Carly to enter.

Jack didn't want to go inside, seeing it as a waste of time, but Carly pulled Jack along, entering the fortune teller's tent. Inside were a few chairs placed around a small round table with a long purple table cloth and a crystal ball sitting in the middle of it. Carly seemed excited about everything around her, since her own dueling decks are Fortune Fairy and Fortune Lady.

The two took a set in the chairs that surrounded the small round table. The Fortune Teller lit a few candles around the tent and then took a set on the opposite side of the table from Carly and Jack.

"So, how does this work? Are you going to look into your crystal ball as tell us what we want to hear about what you see in our future?" Jack asked as he rolled his eyes, crossed his arms and crossed his leg over the other.

"No, the crystal ball is used for those whose futures are unclear, but for you two, I can read your futures quite clearly just by looking into your eyes. The two of you have a strong past with each other. You met by chance but that's all the two of you needed. At first one of you had strong feelings for the other, and then the other discovered that they too had the same feelings. Since then there have been conflicted feelings and they are not sure how to deal with them. I am right, aren't I?"

Jack and Carly slightly looked at each other, their faces lightly starting to blush.

"I'll take that as a yes," The Fortune Teller stood up from her seat and walked over to one of the shelves that lined the tent wall. She then walked over and placed it on the table in front of Jack and Carly. "This is a special bowl with water and herbs that have been socked in it. All the two of you need to do is place a strain of your hair into the water. Place them in the water so they're not touching. If the two strains stay where you placed them it means the future the two of you have is grim, but if the stains come together and intertwine with each other than your future together is bright."

Jack still wasn't convinced with what the Fortune Teller was telling them. Just for the amusement of seeing what would happen Jack pulled a strain of blonde hair from one of his hair leaves that sat in front of his ears and placed it in the bowl. Surprised at this Carly did the same and placed a strain of her hair in the bowl as well. Both looked into the water to see what was in their future.

For a moment the two strands of hair stayed still, showing no signs that the two would connect. But suddenly, slowly, the blonde and black hair made their way towards each other. Wrapping around each other, firing a perfect knot.

Jack quickly stood u from his seat. Thinking it was nothing more than a cheap trick, but nothing could explain how it happened.

It's like I said young man, the two of you have a strong future together. I see a marriage, a family, many years of happiness. But that can all be change if one isn't honest about their feelings. You will hold yourself back from the happiness you are destined to have."

Jack still didn't believe what was happening. Even though he couldn't explain it away he still refused to think of such things.

"Let's go Carly." Jack quickly rushed out of the tent still trying to get his head together about what just happened. Carly quickly bowed in thanks to the Fortune Teller before following after Jack.

"Yes, their future will indeed be full of happiness."
