Chapter Three: The Best of Me

The carnival was now over. Jack and Carly made their way back to their homes together. The experience with the Fortune Teller was something that actually made Jack realize how stupid he was being for the past couple of weeks. He took out his phone from his pocket and sent a text to Yusei and Crow.

"You two are idiots! But... thank you."

"Hey Jack! Take a look at that!" Carly pointed out to the remaining sunset that was disappearing into the approaching darkness of the night sky. "Sunsets are so beautiful. The sky turns all sorts of different colors. Yellows, reds, pinks, orange, even purple sometimes. Isn't it beautiful Jack?"

Jack looked to Carly and then to the setting sun that Carly was awing at. Jack never paid attention to such things before. In fact, there was a lot of things that he didn't pay attention to. His feelings towards this clumsy girl was one of them. Unable to keep what was swelling up inside him anymore Jack wrapped his arms around Carly from behind.

"Jack?!?" Carly said a bit surprised.

"Ai'm sorry. Ai'm sorry that Ai've been avoiding you. Ai just... Ai couldn't find a way to deal with what was happening. Since what happened between the two of us with the Dark Signers, everything has just been so..." Before Jack could finish trying and failing to say what he wanted to say, Carly placed her hand on the side of Jack's face and caressed his check. This surprised Jack and when he looked at her, her face was beat red.

"Jack, I'm sorry for what I put you through back when I was a Dark Signer, but I'm not sorry that I met you. You've brought out the best in me when no one else ever did. Thank you Jack, it's because of you that I've been so happy."

That broke Jack right there. Why did she have to say something like that? To someone like him, why? Jack's grip around Carly just got tighter as he just let all his emotions just pour out of him.

"Thank you. Thank you... thank you Carly." Jack placed his own hand on Carly's check and caressed her face. He then leaned in and collapsed his lips on top of Carly's. Socked Carly didn't know what to do at first but feeling the lips of the person she loved cleared her mind.

The two tightly embraced each other right there on the streets of New Domino City. The kiss getting more passionate by the second. Jack suddenly pushes Carly up against a railing causing her to let out a light oomph.

"Ai'm sorry! Did Ai hurt you?!" Jack asked with his face all red.

"No. It's just... we shouldn't do this here. I-Is there, someplace else that we..."

"Sure, Ai might know a place."

Since that day, Jack and Carly have been together. Word got back to the others about what happened after they abandoned them at the carnival and to all of them, but mostly Crow, it was mission accomplished. Jack and Carly have been living together since that day and that's not the only news. The two are expecting their first child together. They are unsure at the moment of what their first child may be (boy or girl), but all can be said is what awaits them in the future? That's something only the future can tell.
