Shout out to @weirdworldofmymind for giving me some ideas because I had no clue where to go with this book.

*Nick POV*
I wake up to some crying and look at the clock. It's 3 in the morning. I look next to me and Ellie is asleep. I get out of bed and go to the bassinet. I pick Leo up and go downstairs. I heat up a bottle and once it's ready I start feeding him and he calms down. Once he falls back asleep I lay down on the couch and let him sleep on my chest. I pull out my phone and call Gibbs.
G-hello
N-hi Gibbs it's Torres. Sorry if I'm waking you
G-what do you want Torres
N-do you happen to know where Lucia works
G-your sister
N-yes
G-she moved room the San Francisco office. Why
N-ugh
G-Nick what's wrong
N-she sometime found out about Ellie and Leroy. She wants to try and become family again.
G-Nick, she works with NCIS. She probably found out that way
N-I don't know Gibbs.
G-leave a note for Ellie, pack up Leroy and come to my place
N-okay
I hang up and go to the kitchen. I write a note and go upstairs and place it on top of Ellie's phone. I grab the already packed diaper bag and go back downstairs. I strap Leroy into his seat. I grab my bag for work, pick up the diaper bag and the seat, and then go to the car. I place the bags in the passenger seat and then strap Leroys seat in in the back. I get up front and turn the car on then drive to Gibbs. I get there and he's standing outside. He comes over and takes Leroy out of his seat while I grab the diaper bag and we go inside.
"Did I wake you up Gibbs" I ask
"Yes but it's okay. I'd do anything for you and Ellie. You guys are family" Gibbs says
"Okay" I say
"Leo here is getting big. How old is he" Gibbs asks
"He's two weeks old" I say
"Wow. So Lucia sent you guys a gift" he asks
"Yeah. She sent some clothes." I say
"Are you keeping them" he asks
"No. She wants to become family again. She claims that she needs her brother and that Amanda needs her uncle. If they needed me they should've tried to stay in my life and not disown me" I say
"Maybe she had a change of heart" Gibbs says
"That doesn't make a difference. I also still want to know how she found out about Ellie and Leo. Wait, the director probably told her" I say
"Nick, don't go jumping to conclusions" He says
"It's the only possible reason" I say
"You don't think she did some searching of her own" he asks
"I don't think so" I say
"Alright. Talk to the director when we go to work but keep your cool. If you lose your cool you'll risk getting fired and I can't really back you up then" he says
"Alright." I say
"Good now let's go to the diner and get some breakfast" he says
"It's only 5" I say
"I'd suggest talking to the director before others show up" he says
"What time does the director usually arrive" I ask
"7" he says
"Okay. You can just carpool with me" I say
I take Leo from Gibbs and Gibbs goes upstairs. He comes back down not long after dressed for working and his bag over his shoulder. He also grabs the diaper bag and we head out. I strap Leo in his seat then get in. I drive to the diner and when we get there I quickly change Leo's diaper before we go in. After breakfast we head to the naval yard.
"I'll watch Leroy while you go talk to the director" Gibbs says
"Okay" I say
I grab my bag and Leroy's seat while Gibbs grabs his bag and the diaper bag. We go inside and go to the squad room. We go to the bullpen and I set the seat on Gibbs desk and then drop my bag off at my desk. I then go upstairs and over to the directors office. I knock and wait until he lets me in.
"Agent Torres, you are here early. What can I do for you" the director asks
"I am wondering if you have any contact with my sister Lucia" I ask
"As a matter of fact I do. Would you like her number" he asks
"No. I'm good. I just wanted to know if you told her about me" I say
"Well, once she knew you started working with NCIS she asked me about you. She wanted to make sure you were okay. So now every once in a while she asks about you and I update her because she can't reach you and I know you don't want to talk to her" he says
"Did you tell her where I live" I ask
"She wanted to send Leroy a gift" he says
"She wants to be family again" I say
"And is that so bad" he asks
"You don't understand. She disowned me just like my father did. She is not family. The team is my family. Ellie's family is my family. I did not want Lucia knowing anything about me. I wanted my life to be my life." I say
"I'm sorry Agent Torres. She asked about you so I gave information." He says
"But it's my information. It's my personal life. I don't go around giving out information about your personal life. You should get reprimanded for this I'm some way, but I'm not going to tell" I say
I walk out of his office and go back downstairs. I go over to Gibbs desk and see him doing paperwork and Leroy still in his car seat.
"How did it go" Gibbs asks
"It was the director. He was giving her information about me because apparently she was asking. What are we doing today" I ask
"Paperwork" he says
"Okay. I'm probably going to tell Ellie that Leroy can stay here with me today and she can have the day to relax. I have enough milk for him for the day. If that's okay with you" I say
"Of course" Gibbs says
"It's only because he's your grandson isn't it" I ask
"Well, yeah" he says
I laugh and carefully take Leo out of his seat. He snuggles into my chest and I rub his back gently. I pull out my phone and call Ellie.
E-Nick why haven't you brought Leroy back
N-because he's spending the day at work with me
E-what if you get a case
N-I won't. And if I do I'll have Jack watch him. Just relax today. I have everything that I need
E-okay. Fine. Have a good day
N-I will. Love you Charlie
E-love you Luis.
I hang up and put my phone in my pocket. McGee then walks into the bullpen. He sets his bag down then comes over.
"Why is Leo here" he asks
"To give Ellie a break. All we're doing is paperwork" I say
He nods and takes Leroy from me. However, before he can sit down at his desk with him Jack steals him.
"Hey, I just got him" McGee says
"You can hold him later. You have paperwork to do" she says
"So do you" McGee says
"That's why I'm going to hold him." Casey says walking in and taking him
"Don't hurt my son. Please" I say
"Give Leroy to Nick. Casey you also have paperwork that you have not turned in yet" Gibbs says
Casey passes him over to me then walks off. Jack goes upstairs to her office and McGee goes and sits at his desk. I sit down at my desk and situate Leroy so that I can still write. After an hour I stop and grab the diaper bag and go to the elevator. I ride it down to autopsy. I get down there and Jimmy is working on his paperwork.
"Hey jimmy" I say
"Hi nick. Oh it is true. You do have little Leroy with you." He says
"Yeah. I just came down here so that I could change his diaper." I say
"Of course. Go right ahead" Jimmy says
I change the diaper and then I pass Leroy over to Jimmy so that he can hold him some.
"Do you mind watching him for an hour so that I can get the rest of my paperwork done" I ask
"No. Not at all" he says
"Great. There are some bottles in the diaper bag as well as stuff to change his diaper and a few changes of clothes" I say
"Thank you, but I'll be fine Nick. I know what I'm doing" he says
"I know. I know. I'm just worried" I say
"It's okay. I get it. I still get that way with Victoria" he says
"Really" I ask
"Of course. As dads it's our job to worry about them and make sure they're safe and have everything they need" he says
"I guess you're right. I better get back to my desk before Gibbs comes looking for me" I say
Jimmy nods and I go back to the elevator. I ride it to the squad room then step off. I walk to my desk and sit down.
"Where's Leroy" Gibbs asks
"He's with Jimmy. I had to change Leo's diaper and then I asked Jimmy to watch him while I finish my paperwork because I don't have much left and I can get it done quicker when I'm not holding Leo" I say
"Okay" Gibbs says
I focus on my paperwork and get it done in an hour and a half. I call jimmy and tell him that I'm done and a few minutes later he walks into the bullpen with Leroy asleep in his arms and the diaper bag slung over his shoulder. I take Leroy from him and he sets the diaper bag down.
"Thank you so much Jimmy" I say
"You're welcome. He is such a good baby" he says
"Yeah. He doesn't cry much and I hope it stays that way as he gets older" I say
"You'd be lucky if that happens" McGee says
"Yeah. What time is it" I ask
"It's 12:30" Jimmy says
"You can go ahead and head home if you'd like" Gibbs says
"I actually have a question for you Gibbs but I want to ask it in private" I say
"Sure" Gibbs says
Jimmy leaves the bullpen and I hand Leroy over to McGee. Gibbs and I then go to the elevator. We step on and after it moves a bit he pushes the emergency stop button.
"So what's up" Gibbs asks
"Well Ellie and I have only been dating for 10 months" I start
"If your asking if it is too soon I don't think so. Some relationships are really strong so they can move at a faster pace and you and Ellie have that strong relationship. You two knew each other for a while before you dated so I really do not think it is too soon." He says
"Okay." I say
"Is that all" he asks
"Yep" I say
He pushes the button again and we arrive back at the squad room. We go to the bullpen and McGee starts strapping Leroy into his car seat. Once he is in I grab both bags and put them over my shoulder and then pick up the seat.
"Have a good rest of your day" I say
"You too Nick" McGee says
"Have a good night Torres. Let me know how it goes" Gibbs says
"I will" I say
I walk to the elevator and ride it to the ground floor. I go to the car and strap Leroy in and then get in. Before I go anywhere I pull out my phone and make a call. After it is over I start the car and drive off. After a shirt stop I make it home. I go inside and set the bags and the seat down.
"Eleanor we're home" I call out
"I'll be down in a minute" she calls back
I put my bag where it needs to go and deal with the diaper bag. By the time I'm done Ellie is downstairs and she has Leroy in her arms. I put the car seat away and then give Ellie a kiss. We go to the couch and sit down.
"How was your morning" I ask
"It was good to have some alone time but it was weird not having Leroy home to have to care for. Did you not have a lot of paperwork to do" she asks
"Yeah, I only had a small stack. We should go on a walk later on" I say
"Okay" she says
I wrap my arm around her and she leans into me some. I turn the tv on and put on a random movie. After a few movies and some lunch we head out on a walk. We get to a park and sit down on a bench. We sit there in a comfortable silence until I start speaking.
"Ellie, I love you. I've loved you for a while. I liked you since I first met you and then when you and Jake divorced I realized that I loved you. I always pushed my feelings aside because I never thought you could love someone like me. Someone who was broken like me, but after talking with some people my mind was set straight and I knew that you could love me because we are both broken and we are the glue to hold each other together. I love you Eleanor Bishop. I always have and always will so will you marry me" I ask getting down one knee
"Yes" she cries
I slide the ring onto her finger and give her a kiss. I wipe her tears away and pull her into a hug.
"I love you too Nicholas Torres" she whispers
We walk back home and watch a few more movies and eat dinner before heading to bed. Once we are ready for bed I grab my phone and call Gibbs.
G-how did it go Torres
N-she said yes
G-congratulations. I told you it wasn't too soon
N-thanks Gibbs. Have a good night
G-you're welcome. You too
I hang up and lay down in bed next to Ellie.
"We should probably call my family" she says
"They already know. I called and asked your dad for permission and also asked your brothers. I also told your mom what I was doing and they all knew you were going to say yes. They were thrilled when I asked and also happy that I was doing it the old fashioned way" I say
"You're something else Nicholas Torres. You really are" she says
"I'm taking that as a compliment" I say
"Good" she says
I turn the lights off and drift off to sleep next to my fiancée with a smile on both of our faces.
