season one, episode ten
( the rock n roll suicide )
INTERVIEWER: Now that all of you told us your stories how about we get into your life's now?
AUDREY BELMORE: I would love to.
1:28 PM. SEPTEMBER 8TH, 1997.
AUDREY ROUNDTREE: Even though I'm not related to you, Julie. I love you and your mother with all my heart.
JULIA DUNNE: I'm just glad my mom and you had gotten to experience having each other as aunts for me and Roxy.
AUDREY ROUNDTREE: Roxy's life could've been different if I never forgave your mother the day before my wedding.
JULIA DUNNE: ( Julia laughs as Audrey smiled. ) Did Eddie ever, uh, think that Roxy was going to be a boy before the nine months hit?
AUDREY ROUNDTREE: I told you how he was wrong that Roxy would be a son! But, no, he soon remembered that I've never lost a bet before in my life. But I married him back in '82 around the same month Katherine and Warren did, just weeks after they did though. Eddie and I got married at Katherine and mine's old friend's house, Lana. We had a little gathering just you know, close friends and family, even Cameron was invited just to get pissed off.
JULIA DUNNE: Was it Eddie's idea to invite Cameron?
AUDREY ROUNDTREE: Actually, it was Daisy's... she has this whole thing planned, she found out when she got out of Rehab, Cam moved away to Los Angeles, and Daisy figured when I moved back to LA with Eddie, what better way to connect with him again at my wedding? [laughs] But I assume Eddie told you the rest?
JULIA DUNNE: Yeah, yeah he did. Daisy and the others too.
AUDREY ROUNDTREE: Really what did they say?
JULIA DUNNE: I could show you my mothers if you'd like.
AUDREY ROUNDTREE: I'd love that.
JULIA DUNNE: You mentioned something earlier about Audrey's wedding?
CAMILA DUNNE: Yes, yeah. [smacks lips] It was a pretty fun wedding... funner than mine! We had uh, this little joke that ran by me and Karen, it had been years since the band had seen each other. I mean none of us besides, Audrey and Eddie were invited to Kathy and Warren's wedding, so Audrey and Eddie's wedding was the only time we got to catch up.
I'd been with Audrey the whole time, us finally making up. I mean I loved her a lot, even through our little fight between Eddie. I mean it was stupid! Eddie was a dumbass for going to bed with me that night, I was a dumbass for going to bed with him that night.
So, soon enough Cameron had just decided to pop up out of the blue saying Audrey had invited him. [shakes head] I didn't think so. Soon, I rushed over to Eddie asking him about this thinking that he knew, which by the way, he didn't.
And here Eddie went, being himself... he fought with Cameron, the same one Billy had with Daisy's ex-husband, Nicky. Surely there were no punches thrown, Julia was old enough to see those kinds of fights and Roxy was just three years old. Billy soon stopped it, he didn't want anything to happen further on. Afterward, Billy had handled it himself, of course, making Cameron leave the wedding in tears. Oh, I loved that day.

KAREN SIRKO: I wanted to be a rock and roll star. To travel the world and play music for strangers. And that's what I did. It's what I still do. I made some tracks with Audrey, mainly being on the piano, but a few songs she wrote about Eddie, I was on them.
GRAHAM DUNNE: I moved back home... to Hazelwood. Moved across the street from Audrey. I fell in love, started a family. I got a wife and kids now who are my whole world. And I've got Karen to thank for that. I'd probably still be pining after her if she hasn't been, uh, brutally honest with me that night.
KAREN SIRKO: I mean, I told him what he needed to hear. But I wasn't being honest with him.

EDDIE ROUNDTREE: After, I won Audrey back, and my production company was starting, we went and sang songs together, just us with our guitars before she decided she had written every song that would go on her next album: Long Story Short. I'm still out there playing gigs, my four girls coming with me. Roxy on drums, taking after Warren, Daisy on keys, just like Karen, Lorelei on guitar, and Audrey and I on the microphone. It's like our own little family band. My life's been great... it's great.
AUDREY ROUNDTREE: I don't know how many albums with Eddie's and I's record label. I also help young kids from time to time with singing, and guitar. Eddie and Warren come out sometimes to help other kids learn, bass or drums. With Eddie in my life again, life has been great.
JULIA DUNNE: Do you think the breakup was meant to happen?
AUDREY ROUNDTREE: Definitely, I mean, I made us have a new start in our life, and made me make albums with him

WARREN ROJAS: I, uh, married Katherine back in '82... thought she would've said no. Eddie did the same marrying Audrey a few years after my goddaughter was born.
KATHERINE OLIVÁREZ-ROJAS: I wanted to keep the Olivárez name going, but I also wanted the Rojas name baldy, since I started dating Warren back in '77. So why not choose both? Had a lot of fun that night after our wedding. It was a great year... then I got pregnant with twins, it was also a great time.
JULIA DUNNE: I'm glad. What do you two now do for a living?
KATHERINE OLIVÁREZ- ROJAS: I officially quit my job at the Cedar Line, when the band broke up, I thought, "Hey, what am I gonna do now that I quit my job and I still love taking photos?" And a few years later... I started my own photography company, Photography by Aurora. I'm still out there taking pictures for album covers, movie covers, and things like that. All of Daisy's and Audrey's album covers? All mine. [smiles]
WARREN ROJAS: I've been a session drummer for years now. I mean, I've been on some records, you know? Audrey's... Daisy's... records! Uh, classics. I mean, no one asks me to sign their tits anymore, but, that's okay... Actually, that's not true! Kathy just to be nice, she'll do it... time to time.

BILLY DUNNE: Teddy died in '83. They found him hunched over a soundboard after another all-nighter. He died doing what he loved, just like he said he would. The last time we ever got to see him... was at Audrey's wedding.
AUDREY ROUNDTREE: If I knew that was the last time I would see Teddy, I would've wanted me to be the last album he ever made.

DAISY JONES: Everything that I have and everything that I have done... my music... my sobriety... my daughter, Audrey... is all because I left that night.
JULIA DUNNE: Have you been in love since then?
DAISY JONES: Many times. I'm sure you've read about some of them... But with Billy, it was different.
BILLY DUNNE: Everything that made Daisy burn made me burn.
DAISY JONES: Everything I loved about the world, he loved about it.
BILLY DUNNE: Everything I struggled with, she struggled with.
DAISY JONES: We were two halves, in that way, you almost never find with anyone.
BILLY DUNNE: But at the same time, we were a, a mess. Two natural disasters who needed to heal.
DAISY JONES: And I don't think we would've done that. I mean, I know we wouldn't have. At least not then.

JULIA DUNNE: What about Camila's funeral? Did any of you attend?
AUDREY ROUNDTREE: Yeah... it was a while since the last time I saw your mother was at my wedding. She never told me that she was sick, she didn't want me to know... or any of us for that fact, I couldn't bring myself to say any words at the funeral, but I did it for her... for Roxy at the time... for basically everyone I knew.
EDDIE ROUNDTREE: Yeah, I went... I still was on the wrong terms with Billy at the time... but he went past it for the sake of his wife's funeral... I mean he helped me with Cameron at my wedding, I thought we would've been on good terms by then, but we weren't.
KAREN SIRKO: I mean Audrey and her were the reason I joined the band. They were both the reasons why I stayed.
DAISY JONES: She saw a future for me that I couldn't see for myself, and she was right.
GRAHAM DUNNE: I can't...

WARREN ROJAS: What's crazy is that anyone even remembers The Six.
EDDIE ROUNDTREE: When "Aurora" was released on CD, we sold another, what, two million, three million?
AUDREY ROUNDTREE: I came home the other day to see my daughters, with the vinyls my dad had bought when the album first came out... Thought that he would've never given them it.
GRAHAM DUNNE: You know, it came on in the car the other day. The uh, classic rock station. [laughs] I thought it was crazy.
BILLY DUNNE: It's fun to think you did something. Left your mark on the world.
AUDREY BELMORE: I guess the good thing about it is your able to, uh, be there often with, uh, the people you made that the project with, and I think that's the best thing I've gained from doing... you know, projects that you've got to do it with the amazing people, I've gotten to connect with over the years. So, I think being able to sorta see my family and other listeners today, I'd like to think that we made a thing. [chuckles]

"Are you done, ma?" Roxy asked stepping beside Julia. "Uncle Warren just called saying he'd love for the five of us to come out and eat on his boat with him and Aunt Kathy,"
Julia began smiling as she cut the camera of Audrey's interview. Audrey stood up and walked to the two girls, "At Marina Del Rey? That's pretty of a far drive..." She teased as she walked away with the two girls, Julia tagging alone with Audrey's arm around her shoulder.
"What can I say? Warren loves things that take time." Eddie replied, joking about Warren taking his time for Katherine as the three girls stepped out of the room.
"Would you like to come, Julie?" Audrey asked as Julia shook her head, "No, I'm fine... I gotta go talk to Karen, Uncle Graham... then Rod, and then I'll finally be done with this school project." She replied as she stuffed her camera in her bag.
"School project?" Roxy blurted out, "You're 21, Julie..." Julia grinned at her cousin as she replied, "It's a college project Rox, you'll know about it when you ever go to college and take a film production class."
Roxy's eyes went wide as she shook her head, the thought of Roxy going to college made her laugh, "If you ever think I'm going college, you'd have to bribe me with at least half a million dollars."
Audrey turned to Eddie as he smirked, "Then you better start packing, cause you're going to college." Audrey and Eddie laughed together as Rosy groaned. "I'm going to head out now, it was nice seeing you guys."
The whole family waved goodbye as Julia walked down the stairs of their porch, "Should we start to head to Warren's and Kathy's boat?" Eddie asked, taking his keys out of Audrey's bag.
"Yeah, come on girls!" Audrey called out to her other two children. Daisy and Lorelei rushed down the upstairs of the house, one almost stumbling over, "Let's go," Eddie scooped up, the youngest Roundtree, making Lorelei giggle as the other three girls laughed and walked behind him.
