A The Last Of Us teaser for a book cause why not?
The Last Of Us: Into the Light's Darkness
Bellowing winds, fiery sparks of white lighting up the world gone to hell. It's all I see, all I've known. The past long forgotten, crumpled in the depths of my tired mind. Always on the run. Searching. For what? My soul only dwells this world of ruins. There's nothing for me, but a sheer instinct propelling me to survive.
The frown on his face only deepened as he read the old, torn piece of paper for about the fourth time in a row. It puzzled him, honestly.
Joel Miller, a man shaped by a rough past and defined by a soothing present, sat at the deserted bar. Confussion clouded his gaze and he rubbed hus temble. "What has that girl gotten herself into?" he whispered in his usual, scratchy tone. He knew from the moment Ellies looked him in the eyes, a glare upon her face, that she was about to commit something craze-driven. What it was, he did not know. Yet. All he knew was, he woke up the morning, and instead of finding Ellie in the kitchen, rather found the note on the rotten, wooden table.
Perhaps Jackson County was a bit too peaceful for her liking. Maybe it was the lack of adventure and close calls that riled her up to leave. How she got past the electrified gate without getting noticed was a mystery in it's self.
Joel bit his bottom lip, feeling anxiety light up in his chest. He was getting old. He wouldn't be able to go out and look for his baby girl for long. Baby girl. She was almost nineteen now. Joel shifted uncomfortably at the thought. Why did she grow up so fast?
"I'm getting too old for this shit," he mumbled, getting up with heavy sigh.
(Like, why study for tomorrow's math exam when I can be writing this? It's just a teaser. But yeah depending on the amount of you wanting to read the whole book, I'll consider publishing.)
