Chapter 3

Christopher had told Leigh that he had an identical twin brother, but wow it really was like looking at a mirror image of him. Something told her by the look on Chase's face that their looks were the only thing that was the same about these two men.

As soon as Christopher saw Chase he had a huge grin on his handsome face. He immediately gave his brother a big hug.

Turning back to Leigh to Christopher says, "Leigh obviously this is Chase, my brother."

Chase replied, "Yeah, but I'm the better looking one."

"Whatever. I have a few magazine covers that prove you're wrong about that," Christopher says smugly.

"Doesn't prove a thing other than I wasn't available that day so they went with the second-best choice," Chase replies.

"Glad to see your acting skills are coming in handy while you try to keep a straight face saying that bullshit," Christopher says.

Leigh laughed loving the banter between the two brothers. It made her miss her family even more than she already had been.

Chase loved her laugh and wanted to know more about this new woman in his brother's life.

Holding out his hand to Leigh, Chase says, "It's so nice to meet you, Leigh, you look lovely tonight."

Leigh places her hand in Chase's hand. "Please save a dance for me," Chase says kissing her hand.

At that comment, Christopher put his arm around Leigh's waist. "You'll have to steal her away from me first," he says.

Game on brother, Chase thinks to himself. No matter what he will be having a private chat with his brother tonight when the time is right. If he's lucky he will also get that dance when his brother is not looking.

For the dinner, the immediate family was all seated together which included Christina's fiancé Ian's parents. This meant the Camden's were trying to be on their best behavior. The usual pleasantries were exchanged. Chase and Christopher tried to ignore their father's glare.

Christina decided now was the time to ask the question they were all thinking. "So Christopher, how did you and Leigh meet?"

Christopher & Leigh looked at each other and smiled as if remembering a special moment in time.

Christopher spoke first and said, "We met at the coffee shop around the corner from our building." Everyone seemed to take notice of the word "our".

Christopher went on to say Leigh moved into his building about a month ago, but they had never met until recently.

"We literally ran into each other at the coffee shop one morning before work," Christopher says.

Leigh spoke next by saying "Yeah I was still getting used to the layout of the coffee shop, and not paying close enough attention when I was leaving. Turning around too quickly, I ran right into Christopher spilling coffee all over his shirt. I was mortified."

"He kept apologizing for running into me when it had been my fault. I offered to pay for his shirt to be dry cleaned, and he refused. He said he lived right around the corner and would run home and change."

"We said our goodbyes. All I could think about was that I finally had met someone from the neighborhood, and I had just spilled my coffee all over him."

"I ordered another coffee and headed back home. As I was about to walk into my apartment, Christopher was coming out of his right across the hall."

"Surprised to find out we lived right across the hall from each other all we could do is laugh, and introduce ourselves. I asked him to please let me buy him breakfast in the morning to repay him for ruining his shirt. He accepted, and we met the next day. We have been friends ever since."

Chase decided once he got his brother alone he would find out just how friendly these two were.

After dinner, everyone moved from the dining room to the reception hall for drinks and dancing. Leigh excused herself to go to the ladies' room.

Perfect opportunity to get Christopher alone, Chase thought. "Join me for a drink big brother?" Chase says smirking.

"Go ahead let me have it," Christopher says to Chase.

"What do you mean?" Chase replies with a mock look of surprise.

"I know you want to know what is really going on with Leigh and I."

"Well now that you mention it yeah I was a little curious. Is this a hey buddy let's grab a cup of coffee kind of relationship, or do you two have coffee in bed the next morning?"

"Don't be an asshole Chase," Christopher says.

"I'm not trying to be an asshole. I'm just trying to figure out the way these friends with benefits kind of relationships work."

"We aren't like that, Christopher says. We go for breakfast or coffee at the coffee shop pretty regularly. She has invited me over for dinner a few times, and we watch a movie or a game afterward. It's no big deal. We just like hanging out together."

"She's new to town, and doesn't know many people outside of the people she works with. I don't want her to get lonely or homesick. She is really easy to talk to, and I don't feel like she has any expectations of me. I can be myself with her."

"It's not like we spend every day and night together. As a matter of fact, except for the coffee shop, this is the first time we have been out together."

"Ah the first date," Chase says.

"Shut up Chase," Christopher says. "It's not like that, but I did want her to meet my family since I have told her a lot about you guys. Now I'm starting to regret that decision."

"I'll bet," Chase says smirking.

"I just like her, and I would like to keep spending time with her. I want to be close friends, but I don't know beyond that. My career is really starting to take off, and I may not be in Atlanta for much longer. It wouldn't be fair to start something up with Leigh, and then just leave her."

"I understand man," Chase says. "Not that I have ever found someone who I would like to have that type of relationship with, but I get it. So are you finally thinking of taking me up on my offer to move to New York with me?"

"We would have to get a bigger place, but I do like the idea of having my brother there with me."

"I'm not sure yet," Christopher says. "I still have a few jobs lined up here, but I may be calling you in a few months."

Chase sees Leigh approaching so he decides to end the conversation about New York there. Instead, he decides to mess with his brother as Leigh joins them.

"Ah Leigh, just the person I have been looking for. Would you do me the pleasure of this dance?" Leigh looks at Christopher before replying.

Christopher decides to give in to Chase now and let him dance with her. If not he will keep bugging them all night until he gets his way.

"Go ahead Leigh dance with him, so he will get it out of his system and leave us alone. Just make sure to save all the rest of your dances for me." Leigh smiles sweetly at Christopher.

She accepts Chase's waiting hand, and he leads her to the dance floor. As the music begins Chase says to Leigh, "So while I have you all to myself for a few minutes tell me all about yourself."

"Well, I'm originally from California in fact my family still lives there."

"Why would you leave California and move to Atlanta all by yourself?" Chase asks.

"I work for a production studio that was based in California. They decided to move the studio here to cut costs."

"The Atlanta area has really started booming with movie & television productions. A lot of studios have taken notice, and are either moving here or at least shooting their projects here. So when they asked me to relocate, I said sure why not."

Chase nods thinking he should check into what productions are filming in Atlanta now.

"I thought a change might be good for me. Of course, I miss my family and friends. Sometimes it's kind of nice to start over somewhere totally different all on your own."

Chase knew exactly what she meant. He was living that same life in New York.

"So Christopher tells me you're an actor," Leigh says. "Any chance you will gracing us with your acting skills back here in little old Atlanta?"

"I doubt that," Chase says. "Right now I'm doing a play, and I plan on staying in New York for a long time. Sometimes it's better to stay away from family to keep your sanity."

"I thought you and Christopher got along well," Leigh says.

"Yeah of course we do, he's my best friend. I would do anything for him. Neither of us sees eye to eye with our father though about our career choices."

"I understand," Leigh says. "Trust me I know show business can be hard. I'm sure he just wants the best for you both."

"Yeah I know, but he thinks only the corporate world is the best for us."

Trying to lighten the mood Chase says, "Besides with our good looks we can't just sit in an office all day. We have to share ourselves with the world."

Leigh laughs and says, "Of course we wouldn't want to deprive the ladies of the world their time to swoon over the hot Camden brothers."

"Well one out of two ain't bad," Chase says. Leigh rolls her eyes at him.

"So you think I'm hot, good to know gorgeous," Chase says to her with his devilish smile. Before Leigh can reply the song ends, and Christopher is by her side ready to take over from Chase.

"Thank you so much for the dance Leigh, and again it was so nice to meet you. I hope to see you again one day soon."

Chase turns to walk away but decides to give his brother a hard time one more time.

"If you're ever in New York look me up. I will take you out for a cup of coffee that will be 10 times better than the boring coffee around here", Chase says while looking at Christopher.

"Run along Romeo, run along," Christopher says to Chase.

Chase spends the rest of the evening chatting with family and friends and trying his best not to watch Leigh. He can't help himself. She danced with Christopher for the rest of the evening, except when he did allow their father one dance with her.

I'm sure that conversation was enlightening. When dear old dad finds out that Leigh is in the entertainment industry, he will try to talk Christopher out of dating her.

Good luck with that, dad! Knowing that makes me want her even more, Chase thought to himself. Wait what....where the hell did that come from? I need another drink. Tomorrow I really need to get on a plane back to New York and get this girl out of my head.

My brother may not want to admit it yet, but I think he may be falling for her, and me having these thoughts about her is not good.

I know he said that he is considering moving to New York, but after spending a little time with Leigh I don't know if it would be that easy to leave her. Ok, that's it first plane back home, right after the reception tomorrow.

At the end of the evening, Christopher and Leigh say their goodbyes to everyone. Chase headed upstairs to his room. He had booked a room at the hotel where the rehearsal dinner and reception where being held. Staying there was a lot more convenient, and he did not want to stay at home with his father. He had had enough lectures from him to last a lifetime.
