Chapter 6

Chapter 6

Evan felt much better once she had cleaned herself. Her wings felt soft and fluffy once she dried them and she felt peachy. The clothes Nathan has given her fit well, even if they weren't her style. Really, skirts and Oxford tees? Nah. She liked the punk look as the humans would call it.

She slept very well on the bed. She couldn't remember the last time she had been on a bed. Five months? Maybe six? She wasn't very good at telling time. Angles lived for an enormously long time. She was formed sometime shortly before the medieval period. Her first mission was actually meeting with Joan the Arc. That proved that she wasn't going to be a Deliminary angel. Seriously. She almost blew that mission. They actually had to send another angel to fix up her mess. They stook her with the mages and Angels of other talents. She ended up finding her place with the healers. They were an odd mixture of mages, elves, dwarves, and the occasional angel that specialized in healing magic. She ended up becoming one of the best at drawing healing runes. Her friends specialized in the other types of magic.

When she awoke, she winced from the sunlight. It had been long since she had seen the sun. Light magic really does work wonders. A few days ago she would be burning if into little fragments of the sun saw her, but now. Now she could look at the sun again.

Evan heard some clanging coming from the kitchen. Rapid muttering came after that. She exited her room and when over to the kitchen. Nathan was rubbing his foot and looked like he was hurt.

"What happened?"

"I dropped the pan on my foot and now it really hurts!"

She yawned. "Why don't you just use the healing rune I showed you? That would heal it in a jiffy."

A look of realization came in his face. "Oh! You're right! Can't you do it? I forgot the words." Nathan said sheepishly. Evan mentally sighed. She forgot that his first experience with magic was yesterday. He was taking his quite well in fact. She expected him to be freaking out and trying to kill her in her sleep.

"Angels don't have magic. At least not the same type of mages. I only learned how to draw and say runes. I had to have an extra power source to draw on in order to cast them."

"Can you tell me the words again?"

"Sanare meam unde exivi et virtus Caelorun et quo pertineat."

Nathan repeated the words and a bright rune appeared over his foot and sunk in. It tingled, like it was slightly asleep, then stopped. The pain went away and he didn't see any red marks. Wow, that was awesome.

"Nathan?" Evan suddenly asked.

"Yes?" He replied. She was looking at the wall besides the door.

"Do werewolves regularly visit your home?"

"Werewolves?"

"Yeah. Man. Turns into a wolf. Humans are aware of them, right?"

"Yes I know of werewolves but they aren't real too are they. Oh no, next thing you're going to tell me is that fairies and vampires are real too."

"I actually had a good friend who was a fairy. His name was Guarden."

"Evan! You were banished! What are you doing here?"

Both heads turned to the young man who was standing in the doorway, a duffle bag slung over his shoulder and a shocked expression on his face.

"Matthew?!" Evan exclaimed. She ran over and hugged him tightly. "It's been so long since I've seen you!"

"Evan, how did you get here? You were- Oh! You were banished to Earth right?" Evan nodded that.

All the while, Nathan was standing there gazing at the hugging pair of friends. Evan had said that there was a werewolf outside his house. Matthew wasn't a werewolf, Nathan would have known.

"How did you fool Nathan into thinking that you were human? It's rather difficult to hide that you're a lycanthrope." Evan asked.

Matthew smiled. "I used the oldest trick in the book. On full moons I said I was going stargazing. I even completed the trick by trying to get a astrology major!"

Nathan never wondered why his friend went stargazing every full moon. It just made sense. But now that he thought about it, the moon's light would block out some of the stars. Also, he never took anything with him on his expeditions. Well, now he knows why.

"He actually fell for that?" Evan questioned. At least she had high thoughts of Nathan.

"Yup."

"Wait, so you're a werewolf?" Nathan still doubted that his roommate was actually a werewolf. He seemed so normal. He didn't have any wolf like tendencies. He even looked normal. Scraggly ginger hair and pale green eyes. He was actually quite scrawny. He was nothing like a wolf.

"Yup. Where'd you meet Evan anyways?" Matthew looked so chill about this. He just found a long lost friend and told his roommate he was a werewolf. So chill.

"I was on a hike, and she was in a cave."

"Huh. Small world." Matthew replied. "Hey, how 'bout we sit down and catch up. You guys must have quite more to that story than just meeting in a cave. The Evangeline I know wouldn't hesitate to either rip you to pieces or fly away if she came upon you. Actually, you hate caves. Why were you in there in the first place?"

"You're right. It is a long story." Evan confirmed.

They all got settled in the living room. Matthew was sipping on his tea that he made and Evan was nursing a glass of water.

Matthew looked Evan right in the eye. "Spill."
