Sophie's POV
Joss and I arrived precisely at 6:00. I spoke with Robin on the phone (texted actually) and she is waiting for me at the Youth center's stand.
The event is taking place at a big square right across the city hall, and as Robin said, this is also the spot the SC Pride parade begins from.
It is certainly not what I expected to be honest. The bold black 'Join the fight' slogan at the leaflet gave me an intense vibe, so I thought it would be something like those marches people organize when they want to complain, you know, rallies, angry crowd, police ready to act. That kind of stuff.
What I am seeing right now, is not what I had imagined.
First off, there is color everywhere! The rainbow flags are pretty much suffocating the place. There are flags on the cars, on the near buildings, people wear them, carry them, waving them. Flags everywhere!
Secondly, it looks like a fair, where there are stands in a line and people buy things related to the event.
Thirdly, there is a huge stage at the center of the square, now empty, but there is a guy up there checking the instruments, so I guess something is coming up.
And lastly, people are neither angry nor aggressive. They are cheerful and relaxed and I now see I was misled by the intimidating leaflet. This is a celebration. Nothing more, nothing less. People have gathered here to celebrate. I see kids running around, for Christ's sake!
We reach the first stand, which is a magazine's stand. Local magazine for the lgbt community here. Next is a stand that gives info about all kinds of help. Like suicide lines, counselling lines etc. After three more stands that sell t-shirts and stamps, we reach Robin's youth center stand. She is busy talking with another person, informing them about the center's action, I suppose. She is wearing black tight ripped jeans, red vans, a dark blue cardigan and a grey beanie. Her hair is straight and she wears a dark pink lipstick.
In my mind, homosexual girls do not look like this. She looks way more girly than I do, but I guess appearance doesn't count...I read about it online. Apparently there are categories, lesbians get divided to. Femme, butch, lipstick something....I don't know. I should talk to Robin about it and ask her what she is. I also read about a gaydar, which makes no sense but I wonder if Robin's got it.
The point is that Robin looks in her element here. Talking with fervor and passion. Next to her is a woman around late 20's I guess. She looks like she is in charge somehow. She is blonde with light curls and bright blue eyes, just like Robin's. I tried to categorize Robin's eyes last night, for the name of science of course. There is a huge variety for blue eyes and it is an info I would like to know, like, Ben's eyes are called baby blue, mine are light emerald, moms' are see blue and dads' are amber.
I zoom in again, when I hear Robin speak.
"Hey Eliza, I'll be over there, it won't take long." She says to the blonde girl and comes our way.
"Hey guys, glad you could make it." She greets us. She hugs Joss and then she turns to me with a smile and her hand reaches my shoulder. "Hey Sophie."
"Hey, Robin, glad to be here." I say and she smiles at me with a radiant smile.
"Hey Ro! You guys set a really nice gathering!" Joss says gazing the place.
"Yup, we did! Sorry we don't have many straight girls for ya, mister Casanova. I do appreciate you coming." She jokes with Joss.
"My presence here will allure even more people to come." He winks at Robin. Seriously Joss? Diva!
"Don't tempt me to show you around shirtless." She punches his shoulder playfully. No Robin, don't put more fuel to the fire!
"My body is in your disposal! The only thing that worries me is that the place won't fit the thousands of people that will come." He smirks. Jesus christ, enough!
"Yeah, yeah we know everyone is lusting over you. Chill, Clooney!" I punch his shoulder, not so playfully.
"It's true! I want to remind you this one time a guy hit on me. I've told you the story." Joss remarks grabbing my cheek. I swat his hand away. Yes I know the story!
"Let's not go there. You are embarrassing me in front of Robin." I say glaring him. Wait, ME? I meant us. Oh, whatever!
"Always so delicate Soph! Ro is the female version of me! Don't make me dredge up all the dirty informations." He tells me playfully but I frown. The female version? That's unexpected. Robin is about to speak but she gets distracted. She waves at someone instead. I follow her eyes and I see Sam coming over with a girl.
"Hey, binch, hey Joss, hey Ford." Sam says the moment she reaches us. She flashed a smile at Joss but she didn't smile at me. I nod weirdly, Robin hugs her and the girl, and Joss hugs Sam as well.
"Who's the pretty lady?" Joss asks Sam, scanning the girl, who I don't know yet, from head to toe. Typical Joss...
"Nah nah nah nah, hands off, Casanova. This is Nicky, a.k.a my girlfriend." Sam says pointing at the girl, I mean, Nicky.
"I am Sophie Lillian Ford." I say to the girl, and Sam eyerolls next to her, which is kind of mean, but unlike Sam, Nicky waves at me with a huge smile on her face.
"Sam you have my respect! You've hit a clear 10!" Joss acknowledges and raises his hand for a high five, which Sam accepts playfully. "Hello Nicky! I am Joseph." He greets with a wide smile.
"Nice to meet you, Joseph. And you Sophie." Nicky beams at us.
"Hey, Ro, we are going near the stage. Hit us up when you are done, ok?" Sam grabs Nicky's hand taging her away already. "Bye Joss! See ya around." And with that they leave... I didn't get a 'bye Sophie'.
"So you and Sam called it quits? She already got bored of you?" Joss teases Robin with a playful smile. What is that supposed to mean? I stare Joss and Robin back and forth until Robin grimances.
"Shut up you idiot, I like Nicky." She tells him and he smirks. "And FYI, my hands are still full." She sticks her tongue out as I keep staring at them silently.
"I am sure they are!" He smirks. "I'll leave you two besties to catch up! I am going to greet some friends over there." Joss informs us and then hugs me. "Bye Robin! See you later... Maybe!" And then he leaves us alone. What Joss said is stuck in my head, so I ask.
"What did Joss mean?" I ask. Were Robin and Sam together? I've seen them together twice if I remember correctly, but they didn't strike me as a couple....thus, Sam is with that girl now and besides, Sam and Robin don't look like exes to me.
Robin gives me a grimace and brings her hand behind her neck. "Well, to put it simply, Sam and I were very intimate. You know.....friends with benefits?"...ohhh....that.... "but, like, Sam is my best friend. I do not have feelings for her, romantic ones, I mean...and neither has she. I am very happy she has a girlfriend now! She is like a sister to me!" she tries to explain and I think I kind of get it....I guess....not that I know how the friends with benefits status works...but if she says that they are not like that, then that is the case. "I am single. I am not seeing anyone" She adds and I nod. She gestures the stands and we start walking past them. After a few moments of silence she speaks.
"You? Do you have a boyfriend?" Oh no....the awkward question, again. I always feel awkward when people ask me, but I can't just tell Robin like I told Vanessa that I never had anyone, because a) she is a new acquaintance and b)It feels weird with her and I don't want her to laugh at me, somehow.
"Umm.....I am single, too....now." Good answer Soph... very vague, not the whole truth but not a complete lie either. I hope she thinks I had a boyfriend and not have one at this moment.
"Cool, singles have the best of fun." She winks and smirks. Pweh, crisis avoided.
"Are you allowed to leave the stand for that long?" I ask her out of the blue, worried. She shouldn't get in trouble for me.
"Yeah, yeah, Eliza's in command, but she is a cool boss." She says and we walk to the next stand, which sells t-shirts and bags and other stuff. Robin stops and looks at the t-shirts while I, on the other hand, look at the stamps and the bracelets.
"I like this one." She says pointing at a rainbow bracelet. I shake my head.
"Too much color." I state. "It hurts my eyes, literally. The combination does not sit well with my eyes. They don't match together." I say innocently, because really, my eyes can't get them together... I get that with other things as well, like checkered shirts on tv...they make me kind of dizzy. ..or bright yellow as well.. My eyes hate it!
Next to me, Robin gives out a laugh and my cheeks redden. Great, the embarrassment moment of the day has arrived. I should have bought that damn bracelet without complain.
"Ok, fashion police 2.0...maybe this one?" she points at another bracelet. Oh, I know what its' colors stand for. Bisexuality! I am so proud of myself right now. In just a week I have become a master at everything lgbt! Google is my savior.
"Or maybe you can buy a stamp." I follow her hand and look at them. They have a big variety of stamps with serious messages but also catchy phrases like 'B stands for badass', or 'don't be a drag, be a queen.'.....ummm Lady Gaga, right?
I nod and take my wallet out to pay for one, to support the cause. I go for a simple white stamp with 'born this way' on it, with black bold letters. The phrase is not just about the lgbt, so I can relate with it..I think. The only thing that makes me slightly an outcast is my social awkwardness, with Joss making fun of me, so this is a statement to his face: I was born this way, Chewbacca, deal with it.
We walk a few meters when a familiar face approaches us. Vanessa.
"Oh, hi guys!" She hugs me first. It's still weird for me to get that physical with other people other than Joseph, and family. She is wearing a nice perfume.. I think it is some kind of flower. She lets me go after a few seconds and then, when she is a step away from me, Robin hugs her sweetly, patting her back.
"Hey, Chica, glad you came!" Robin says and I nod my head. It's cool she came to support the cause. Vanessa is a kind person, I have come to like her lately after the famous 'jonessa intervention' and I can tell I was wrong to not like her all these years.
Another mistake.
"There was no way I'd miss it, you invited me after all!" Vanessa beams at her. "Um, girls this is Ashton!" She points at a tall guy standing next to her. He is quite good looking and preppy. Who is he again?
"No need for introductions for this lady. Everybody knows her." He raises his eyebrows looking at Robin. "I haven't seen you in a while, Robin. Nice job tonight! And you are?" He gives me a warm smile.
"Sophie Lillian Ford, nice to meet you." I introduce myself. I stare at him awkwardly for seconds and then I stretch my hand for a handshake.
"Nice to meet you too, Sophie." He shakes my hand back.
"Sophie and I used to go to school together, I know her since kindergarten!" Vanessa decides to take a trip down to memory lane. Wait, really? I don't recall her being there. "She is studying pre-law! How awesome is that?"
"Really awesome." Ashton remarks impressed and I feel like my cheeks burning but I don't know why. "How's college treating you so far?"
"Ummm......good so far..nothing I can't manage." I answer back..wait, I am supposed to ask him back, show some interest. "You?" I add quickly.
"I am studying journalism." He informs me about his field. Hmm...that's interesting.
"Not just studying. He's being modest." Vanessa glares at him playfully and he chuckles. "Ashton is actually the paper's editor and he is only a junior. How great is that? He is doing such a wonderful job, like seriously! We are here to cover the event."
At that Robin, chimes in animatedly. "Hey, you can interview Eliza! She is in charge today, I think she would like that, she thrives during those events." she says enthusiastically.
"Oh, really?" Vanessa asks excited and then looks at Ashton.
"That sounds like a great idea, Robin." Ashton smiles at her. "Can you arrange that for us?"
"Of course you guys, I can introduce you, I am heading over there myself." she tells them and then she turns to me. "I don't want Eliza to deal with the people alone for that long, sorry I have to cut this short." She shrugs apologetically.
"That's ok, you have to help. I will just look around." I tell her and she nods.
"Okay then, let's go together. It was nice to meet you, Sophie." Ashton gives me a warm smile and touches Vanessa on the shoulder.
"Have a nice time, Sophie!" Vanessa smiles at me as well."I'll text you to meet up next week? At the library maybe?"
"Yes, yes we can do that. I am free" I say and nod my head.
"Great! I'll see you then! Bye!" She waves at me and turns around to leave with Ashton and Robin but need to ask her one thing before she goes.
"Wait, Vanessa!" I call out for her but they all turn around and look at me. "Umm.. do you like muffins?" i ask and wait...my backup plan is cookies.
"Yes! Who doesn't like muffins?" She frowns. "But why?"
"Ummm....I will bring muffins for the library thing. You won't have to pay me, it will be on me." I explain and it came out pretty lame.. Dork.
"Ok!" She giggles. "I can't wait!" She answers back and then they leave me.
It appears I have a library session coming up this week. As for Robin she has already asked me for a coffee 'date' tomorrow, so that we can talk about my opinion and what I think of the event. She will text me tomorrow to let me know about the plans.
They leave me alone next to a bench. It is dark now, but the stage illuminates the square. Soon a band goes up and after saying hello to the crowd, they start performing. All the performers tonight are local, so I don't know them, but the sound is not awful, just not to my taste. After a while, I look around and start inspecting people, and only at this time, it hits me, the fact that most of the people here are hugging and kissing and making out. I hadn't noticed so far, which means it sets ok with my eyes...I am not disgusted or anything...actually it is a nice outing...
To my right, I see a male couple holding hands with a small girl in the middle. They are a family! The first one I see! They look so normal and the girl seems to be very excited. This is a nice picture in my head. Hmmmm...
Next I see a group of friends, singing to the music, while wearing t-shirts that state: gay is ok. I giggle at that.
To my left, I see a woman...no, a man...ummmm..maybe? I don't think I can tell, to be honest. Their face seems feminine but the short hair and the boyish clothes throw me off....hmmm..
Moving on, I see a.....drag queen. That's how the google calls them, so I don't think the term is offensive. Wow, their heels are so high!! How can they walk? I read a few things about them and transgender people, intrigued by their uniqueness. I also read about intersex people (which shocked me a bit because, researchers say that it is not as uncommon as we think it is) and the asexual people as well and something called aromantic... When I read about these two I thought that maybe that is where I stand, because so far I haven't felt sexual attraction about anyone and I don't see myself romantically involved with anyone, but the thought made me kind of sad, you know, like, another thing that might distant people from me thinking I am too complicated, besides the lack of social skills...so I hope I am not. Not that I have something against these things. NO! It makes perfect sense what they feel, but for myself...it would be another pile on the trouble that is me. How could a person like me if I am like that? I am not an easy person to like as it is.
I shake my head and pout momentarily at the thought of rejection, so I look straight ahead. My eyes fall in two girls around 16-ish? Most certainly. They are shoulder to shoulder, one blonde and the other brunette, and they are holding hands. The blonde one is, let's put it that way: more feminine...sexy, someone would say, while the brunette is....not so girly. She has tattoos and wears a snapback and boyish clothes, while the blonde wears a floral dress. They don't look like a great match in my eyes...their combination is weird.
I look closely at them, really interested. The brunette leaves the girl's hand and instantly it goes to the small of the girl's back, caressing it. That causes the blonde to turn her head and look at the brunette that smiles widely and says something to her. My eyes gaze the brunette carefully. While the blonde speaks, the brunette's eyes look at her with so much affection and in awe. I've never seen anyone look at someone like that. From time to time, the brunette's eyes stare at the girl's lips and she gets this enchanted look on her face...if want and excitement had a face, it would be this girl's. It is not provocative or gross. It is sweet I suppose....the heart eyes people talk about.....
And then they kiss. It's a peck mostly, but a kiss nevertheless. The blonde smiles again and turns her body facing the brunette, who does the same as well, and after a few shared looks, they move closer and start moving to the music. The blonde's hands fall to the other girl's hips and the brunette's go for the blonde's neck. I expected the other way around honestly.
They swing to the rhythm for a while until the song ends and the next begins.
I spent the rest of the night there, looking at them, feeling like something in me is missing, but I don't know what that is right now. Maybe their vibes got to me and made me crave human connection, something that has never been the bother for me....but now...now I think...I think I would like the concept of me being close to someone, like those girls are with each other.
Now and for only a few seconds of complete honesty, my life's greatest achievement of not having any distractions and zero heartache, seems the wrong way of living.
Vanessa's POV
There are so many people here supporting the cause and I am pleased to see some familiar faces as well. Many of my classmates are here and so is Sam and Robin and Sophie. I would be a little skeptical a month ago if someone told me Sophie would attend an event like this. I believe she would be sceptical herself too. It seems like hanging out with Robin widened her horizons somehow. I am really happy Sophie found another friend in her. She needs a bunch of those even if she won't admit it. Like ever.
After we left them, Ashton and I took an interview from the youth center's director as Robin suggested. It was proven to be such a pleasant conversation and Ashton was so original on the questions' part. I guess he is not our editor by accident.
"How does it seem to you so far?" He asks me while we make our way through the crowd.
"Not as hard and difficult and stressful as I expected." I admit.
"You worry too much." He chuckles. "There is no reason. Nothing can go wrong."
"Well, I can think at least of a dozen of things that could go wrong." I exhale.
"You are doing great and I liked your style during the interview." He squeezes my shoulder slightly.
"Really? I wasn't sure if I should interfere, you were doing the interview after all." It was such a dilemma barging into the conversation but in the end I was so intrigued by it that I asked myself a couple of questions too.
"Didn't I ask you to cover this event with me? It is our task, not mine." He lifts his eyebrows to reach his point. Ashton is so easy going and more down to earth than anyone could imagine. He is only a junior but he has achieved so much already. That much that would justify a bit of arrogance or vanity. On the contrary though he is nothing like it.
"Okay. I am glad you asked me to come with you. I am learning so many things by the second!" I say without hiding my excitement.
"I am glad you came." He beams at me. He has such a nice smile, his whole face has been lighten up.
"Hm hm!" I hear a coughing behind me. I turn around and I see Alice staring at me with a playful look.
"Oh, Alice hi!" I give her a hug. "I was about to call you. Ashton, this is my roommate, Alice! Alice, this is Ashton." I do the proper introductions.
"Hey Ashton! Nice to meet you!" Alice chirps and stretches her hand for a handshake, while she's scanning Ashton.
"Nice to meet you too, Alice!" He shakes her hand back and smiles at her not showing a bit uncomfortable under her gaze. Alice was serious when she said she will check herself if Ashton is cute or not. I just hoped she would just be a little bit more discreet. "I am guessing you're a freshman too?"
"Yup you're right! Still a rookie. So how is this event's covering going?"she asks with a wide smile.
"Pretty good, we just took a great interview with Vanessa. It is a bigger event this year and as I can also see more people came, it is a progress." He remarks showing at the crowd.
"That's so great! I think you will be a good mentor for Vanessa. You seem like a person with experience and she is a bit shy, so she really needs a really good push!" She simpers. I twinkle my fingers and make a little grimace to Alice. I am sure the colour of my face is already red.
"Yes of course!I'll take care of her." Ashton beams at me and Alice raises an instant thumbs up while he is not looking at her.
"I am sure you are!" She comments and I can detect the subtext of that simple sentence.
"So, if my memory doesn't fail me, you are studying linguistics?" He returns his attention back on Alice. Now if my own memory serves me right, I had once mentioned it during a conversation with Anna at the paper in which Ashton took part briefly. I guess he has a good memory otherwise why would he remember what my roommate studies?
"Yeah! If you need someone to translate anything in the paper, I am the person for this job! Also since you're Vanessa's friend I won't charge you." she giggles.
"That's good to know, thank you, Alice!" He chuckles. "Now if you'll excuse me girls I have to find Gabriel who is supposed to take photos tonight on behalf of the paper."
"I'll come with you." I propose.
"I'll come by later. You can stay with your friend and have fun, the music groups will head on stage in any second. It was nice to meet you, Alice!" He gives her another smile before leaving.
"Good job there Ness! Hot and likeable!" she remarks and a smirk appears. "You have a task to do! I want you to find out if there's a six pack underneath that green shirt. I am sure there is." she points out and the smirk never leaves her face.
"What?!" I exclaim blinking multiple times and she raises an eyebrow at me. "Oh, that was a joke." I am not 100% familiar with Alice's humor yet.
"Mostly, but it won't be a torture to do that."She winks at me, giggling.
"I am glad you liked him." I chortle without making any other comment.
"What's not to like? He's cute, he's gentle... I just hope he won't be another disappointment." She exhales, looking me in the eyes.
"I don't think so. Ashton seems like a genuinely good guy. He is so kind and smart and..." I stop talking as Alice is giving a look I can't define. "And the first band just came on stage just like Ashton said. What kind of music do you think they're going to play? Rock? Pop? Maybe jazz? I can see two guitar players, um, this looks like my guitar. Hmm, not so much now that I observe it better. Mine is a little more classic while this one is-"
"Vanessa you're bubbling again and you're conveniently changing the subject!" She beams at me and I stop talking right away.
"What? I am not." I try to hide my awkwardness with a laugh. "Anyway, there are about to start, let's hear them out!"
"Let's rock on!" Alice shouts enthusiastically and drags me closer to the stage.
Joseph's POV
I wander around the place, just looking aimlessly to the different stands. It's a really nice gathering and I am happy to be here, in this celebration.
I let Sophie with Robin, so she could show her around, as Robin knows better the place and I feel it will be good for Soph to have a friend like her. Robin is the most easy going person I know, and no one can resist her charms, especially the girls.
As I keep gazing around I run into a familiar face.
"Nathan hey! What's up bro?" I greet him, poking his arm.
"Hey, man! All good, I thought I should show up, otherwise Robin would kill me." He lifts his eyebrows. "How are you?"
"Fine! You? I haven't seen you since the frat party! The coach is giving you a hard time?"
"The hardest. We kick off the season in one week and he is going nuts. I had fun at the party last Friday but I have to stay away from action till the game. I don't need any distractions. Like this..." He nods towards a brunette, who if I remember correctly, is a cheerleader. She waves back at him and at me too. Yeah, she must be Brenda. We were introduced at the grill last week. "So, on a scale 1-10, how much fun did you have at the frat party?" He gives me a playful look.
"A lots of fun!" I smirk looking back at him. "I run into Lindsay, the volleyball captain. Big boobs, great ass and seductive lips. Man I slept for like, 2 hours!" I bring back in my head Lindsay naked on my bed. I might call her one of these days.
"Woah, that sounds like a 10 my friend!" He pats me on the shoulder.
"You have no idea! What about you?" I ask him, since I didn't see him after he went to talk to Alice, who I haven't seen for a week. That was a weird turn of events, since she always pops up in the most unexpected places.
"Well, I don't want to brag, but as I said, I had fun too." He smirks. "I hooked up with a girl whose name I never learnt. I looked at her, she looked at me giving the green light and that was it. She didn't ask my name either." He shrugs. "Do you know Thea from the swimming pool? She also came at the party and we spent some time together." He adds raising his eyebrows. "I won't complain. It was a good night, even though Steve got into the way and had Alice for himself. Brotherhood code is a thing I hate about fraternities."
I witnessed Steve getting into the way and doing more other stuff, that made me lose control that fucking night. Lindsay was a really good distraction and the reason that this party worthed something. I have still this nagging feeling, that wants to know more about Alice and Steve. I know she wasn't home the morning I went for breakfast with Vanessa and Soph, so that proved big time that they slept together.
Why does it keep bothering me? It's been a week and still this feeling doesn't go away. It's so girlish and I hate it. Unfortunately the curiosity wins over logic.
"So Steve must have had a good time. As good it can be with loudmouth Alice." I say as indifferent as I can.
"Well, all the frat boys would kill to spend some time with loudmouth Alice." I make a disgusted grimace. "Joss my man, when it comes to this, you are so blind. She is hot. Everyone can see it. Steve was the true champ this week, everybody at the frat house was asking him about him and Alice. And their date was the highlight of it all."
What? They went out on a fucking date? Mr. President really wanted to make an impression with all his money and shit and of course Little Princess couldn't miss the perfect opportunity to go out with this wussy.
"Why did they go out on a date? Didn't he nail her at the frat party?" I ask, because I can't hold myself and I want to know more, without having any logical arguments about that. Let's call it human curiosity and gossip.
"He made his move and Alice gave him the cold shoulder." Nathan starts saying.
What? But I saw them moving to the stairs like a disgusting honeymoon couple.
"It wasn't a total fail, they made out in his car and he played his cards well walking her to her door to give a good impression."
Well I have to say I was wrong. Alice really is what she says. I thought she took the chance to sleep with the first guy, who laid eyes on her, but no! She rejected him. Not completely though. She just postponed the sex.
Focus Joseph! Why do you keep your brilliant mind busy with that stupid girl? Like she said, it's her life and I don't give a fuck about her or her life.
"Girls dig that!" I say with a forced smile.
"Exactly, that move gave him the date. He took her to this plush restaurant down town. You know the one that looks like a fucking palace from outside?" Nathan waves his hands in the air, trying to show the size of this fucking palace!
What a show off! Don't tell me that Alice fell for those cheap tricks.
"Yeah I got it! Move on." I say with a sharp voice, that came out unintentionally. Nathan gives me a puzzled look but he goes on speaking.
"They had a good time and he was sure he had her by the end of the night. But..." He points a finger at me. "He was wrong."
"What do you mean?" I ask him with a quizzical look and my eyes widen.
"He didn't got any. If you know what I mean." Nathan holds his laugh. "So they kept on dating the whole week, because Steve couldn't understand why Alice was this distant and yet warm at the same time." He continues rambling.
"So did he get her or not?" I ask, trying to look as indifferent as I could, as I wait anticipated for the answer.
"No man!" Nathan replies chortling. "Alice told him she liked him, but they didn't fit together. Like they had different interests and there was no chemistry. Go figure! Steve had no problem with that though, he banged his ex Samantha the next day."
"There you go Steve! Nothing can bring him down! I like his style!" I say with a smile to Nathan. But the truth is the smile didn't come from Steve's style. I couldn't care less about what he's doing. It's that Alice turned him down. That girl didn't give into a guy like Steve, even after going out on a bunch of dates with him. Many girls would kill to be with him, without understanding the reason, but the facts are facts. Alice is so much more than what meets the eye.
"I think it hurt his ego but he is the ΚΕΓ president after all, he has a reputation to maintain." Nathan remarks.
"Yeah of course! He couldn't let a freshman girl ruin his image." I comment, but I fight the urge to evil laugh right now and Nathan nods, chuckling.
Then we continue walking among people talking about random stuff, but somehow my mood really got better.
