Betrayed Part Two
Happy New Year everyone!!! I do hope you guys enjoy.
Kanan POV
Once Ezra and I came up with somewhat of a plan I went downstairs to start breakfast. After Mark arrived I filled him in on the situation.
"So let me get this straight, the people who are possibly responsible for our vic, are upstairs and we can't arrest them?" Mark asked once I was done.
"It's not one of those things where we can just arrest people and interrogate them," I told the boy, handing him his food.
"How?" He asked still confused. "We always do that and get results."
"Because...this is not our normal go in guns blazing situation. The better we keep this quiet, the easier it will be to keep Washington out of it," I replied hoping I got my meaning across.
He sat back and thought for a moment.
"Huh, I guess you have a point," he said.
"Yes, I do. EJ hurry up! Your breakfast is going to get cold!" I called up the stairs.
"Coming Dad!" He answered.
A minute later my boy was tromping down the stairs looking less happy than before.
"Whoa, you look awful," Mark commented eyeing Ezra who gave him an evil stare.
"Hey, you're the one that asked me to come get you," Mark argued.
"That's because I don't want to drive to rehearsal," Ezra muttered sliding into the seat beside him.
"Ezra," I warned, knowing there was more to it than he was saying.
"Fine. I figured since the crew is only after us, they won't start something with a stranger here," he said turning to Mark. "Sorry buddy."
"Lakein," I groaned while face palming. "Always thinking, aren't you?"
"Learned from the best," he said throwing me a charming grin.
"That may work on the ladies Son, but not me," I remarked handing him his plate. "Just remember, I taught you that move."
Mark began to snicker resulting in a friendly punch from Ezra.
"Just eat guys," I ordered turning back to the stove.
"Kanan?"
Hera POV
Once we left the bedroom, we quietly made our way downstairs.
"Who's that?" Sabine whispered as we stopped just short of Kanan and Ezra's line of sight.
A boy, with brown hair and looked roughly Ezra's age, sat at the table laughing.
"It must be a friend," I said turing to Zeb and Sabine.
"So, what's the plan?" She asked eyeing the kid again.
"Sabine, signal the Admiral and tell him we have the targets," I sighed. "Zeb, stun them so we can do this without any problems. Leave the other kid but we need Kanan and Ezra."
"Are you sure?" He asked placing a hand on my shoulder.
I opened my mouth to reply but nothing came out. My heart cliched with guilt seeing my boys acting like nothing was wrong. It wasn't fair for any of us.
"Hera? You okay?" Sabine asked worry filling her tone.
I sighed before nodding my head.
"Yes, whether we like it or not, we have our orders and we must do them or...well you know."
The two sagged sadly and sighed.
"We know."
Squaring my shoulders I turned around and went down the last few steps. Ezra punched the boy in the shoulder causing Kanan to laugh and tell them to eat.
"Kanan?" I called softly.
The man turned me and smiled brightly.
"Well good morning," he said reaching back and turning something off. "Breakfast is ready if you guys are hungry.
I went to reply when I realized that I couldn't.
"Hera, you okay?" He asked worriedly.
The two boys glanced at each other before returning to their meal.
"Yes, just a little shocked is all," I said recovering slightly. "I didn't know that you could cook."
"Well, despite what some people think," he said with a pointed glare as Ezra and his friend began to snicker. "I have really improved my skills."
"Yeah, after we almost starved," Ezra muttered.
Kanan rolled his eyes and knocked him upside the head.
"Come, sit down and I will get you guys some food."
Sabine POV
I had to bite my tongue to keep from screaming at Kanan. I don't know why but it all seemed wrong. While him and Ezra have had an Empire free life, my family and I have been tortured and imprisoned and forced to do things that no one should. An yet...
"Sabine, calm down," Hera whispered in my ear jerking me from my thoughts. "Honey it will be over soon."
I took a shuddering breath not even realizing that I had been crying. Kanan was right beside her giving me a reassuring smile.
"Sabine, it's okay to be angry," he whispered.
I looked at him with unbridled fury.
"You...you...TRAITOR!"
NPOV
Sabine leapt at the man throwing him to ground. Ezra and Mark jumped up to help but was met with Zeb pointing his rifle at them.
"Sabine stop!" Kanan said trying to keep the girl from punching his face. "I don't want to hurt you!"
"You already hurt me," she cried. "You left us alone and when the Empire came, we had to surrender. For five years we have been their slaves. Forced to kill what was left of the resistance, all because you weren't there. We needed you and you left us!"
As she spoke her attacks became slower. Kanan seeing his opportunity, jumped up, throwing her to the side.
"Look, I'm sorry that you guys have been through what you have," he offered. "After what happened with the last troop of Inquisitors, I knew that we wouldn't be safe; the rebellion wouldn't be safe. Yes, it's been hard for you guys but it doesn't have to end like this."
Suddenly Zeb's rifle and Hera and Sabine's blasters flew from their holsters. They turned to see Ezra with his arm outstretched and the weapons in front of them.
"He's right," Ezra said placing the items on the table and walked over to Kanan. "It wasn't fair what happened to you guys but think about this; if we had been there, there's a chance the Empire would have killed you and made us their slaves. At least you are alive and now have a chance to break free."
The three stared at the teen not really sure how to continue.
"Guys, we can help you," Kanan offered placing a hand on his son's shoulder.
"How can you help us?" Sabine asked tears threatening to fall again.
Ezra glanced up the stairs and smiled.
"First things first," he said pointing.
The three turned around and was met with a bright light knocking them unconscious.
"Thanks Reany," he grinned.
"You're welcome," Reany said before letting her smile fade into a sharp glare. "Next time, you better get straight to the point."
With that she flashed out.
"Well, that explains why you looked so grumpy," Mark laughed. "You must have woken her up."
"Shut up!" Ezra snapped at him, a blush spreading across his face.
Kanan shook his head and face palmed.
"I love my Son, I love my Son," he muttered over and over.
????? POV
Looking at the video feed provided by Ms. Wren, I pleased to see everything was going to plan. Jarrus was offering help not realizing what he was up against. The boy walked over to his father and smiled pointing behind them. The slaves turned and the camera turned white before going completely black.
"Sir, we have lost all visual feed," an attendant reported, frantically trying to get it back.
I went to yell when I heard laughing.
"That's why you looked so grumpy. You must have woken her up!"
"Shut up!" I heard the younger Jarrus snap.
"Sir, it appears that the camera has been fried," the same attendant said.
I nodded and held up my hand.
"It's quite alright Private. We still have audio and soon the two Jedi as well. Once they are captured we will be one step closer to taking over this world in the name of the Empire."
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please let me know what you thought and have a wonderful day.
