Kurama looked away when Naruto asked that question. To be honest? It hurt. Like Naruto, Kurama had never experienced love.
Not parental.
Not familial.
Not romantic.
In the thousands of years he has existed, Kurama just figured he was destined to be alone. Though from what he has seen, sometimes it is better to be alone.
Kurama didn't answer his jinchuriki who was still coming to terms about what he said.
'But who could love a monster?' Naruto whispered to himself, however Kurama heard him.
'You are not a monster! You are my jinchuriki! A human with a burden like me!' Kurama shouted at him, appalled by his thoughts. If Naruto continued with his thinking he could-
No. Stop thinking that Kurama. This is the cheerful blonde knucklehead we are talking about! He wouldn't do anything right?
'Kurama...because of me, the world as we know it may no longer exist.' Naruto said, trying to hide his face in Madara's chest while the Uchiha's hand stroked his hair in a comforting motion. 'I- when I came back, there was a massive explosion. I think it killed everyone who was around me.' Tears pricked at his eyes. 'I have blood on my hands. I am a monster!'
Kurama growled furiously. This was once again that blasted Uchiha's fault! 'If you are a monster Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze, then I am even worse. I am a demon. I have killed hundreds, if not thousands of people!'
Naruto blanched. 'You are not a demon! You were just trying to live!'
'And you were trying to survive.' Kurama said softly. 'It was a war. People will die and it was not all of your fault.'
Naruto smiled softly, feeling a little better already. "Thanks Kurama." He said out loud. A sun-kissed hand gently pushed himself away from Madara, who tightened his grip briefly before reluctantly letting him go.
"Are you feeling better?" Madara asked gruffly.
"Yes." Naruto nodded, pushing himself to his feet with his companion following close behind.
"Okay." Madara smiled softly. "Time to get you to your clan."
"Yeah." Naruto smiled with a small nod. They both ran at full speed in the direction of what will be Uzushiogakire.
(Timeskip to their arrival and they are meeting with the future Uzukage)
"Welcome." A tall man with long bright red hair and purple eyes greeted the pair as they came closer. He examined the duo, noting that one was an Uchiha and might be a problem with a few other guests that are staying with the Uzumaki's at the moment. The other is the one claiming to be an Uzumaki but... "Are you a jinchuriki?" The man asked.
Naruto paled and looked almost ready to bolt but Madara hugged him, calming him down. "Y-yes." Naruto looked down.
The man smiled. "You are fine here young one. We Uzumaki's also know the difference between the scroll and kunai." Naruto's head shot up in shock. Maybe the people of this time are more excepting of things.
"What is your name?" Madara asked as he kept his hold on Naruto who was slowly relaxing.
Purple eyes moved to the onyx ones of the Uchiha. "My name is Rei Uzumaki Head of the Uzumaki Clan and you are?" After all it was only polite to introduce yourself even if the man now known as Rei already knew them.
"I am Madara Uchiha, Head of the Uchiha Clan." Madara returned.
Naruto cracked his neck to the side with an audible crack that almost caused the other two to flinch. "I am Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze. I thought I was the last of us though?"
Rei laughed. "Oh no! We are a thriving clan that does a lot of business in seals. During your stay, we can teach you if you would like?" Rei offered as they walked through the crowded streets.
"Thanks but-"
"MADARA!"
