to love. **
The day had passed by,
With deeds and sins
One overweighing the other.
I lay to contemplate
And all I can think about is a word,
Love.
Shall there be any definition,
Is it just an emotion?
The same for all
Or a fluttery feeling of a sole soul...
Mesmerized by the beauty
The orbs that could captivate,
Or a heart that could speak
With a language of its own
To the other?
Is it tangible to be defined
Or intangible to be ignored
Romantic to be spoken by the words my 'him' or 'her'
Or shall it be left for God to show
Without a picture in mind
The blurry him stares without a name
Or the blurry she stares wide eyed
Don't know who but the heart says
That he shall be mine
Or that she shall be mine
That night
You had told the stars
The One above had heard it
He knew all along.
You knew He knew all along...
He placed Mercy between the two hearts
The heart shall love whom it has to love,
In prayers you find yourself praying for a soul,
Perhaps you haven't told the other,
You had been broken yet you smiled
When the other didn't spare a glance
But deep within you knew,
That the One above Has written what's right for you...
And I still am trying to learn
What's love...
I found it when the wrinkled woman smiled
As the wrinkled man kissed her forehead
I found it when she softened the date for him by biting into it
When he couldn't do so.
I found it when he held her hands
In the running escalators
And held her close to his chest
As she feared she would fall
I found it when he whispered his love
When she lay there sans any glamour
With blemishes, spots, wrinkles and greyed hair....
I found it when I walked briskly under the glimmering lights of the Holy Mosque,
A couple with beauty beyond words,
With a light so pure,
Had held their hands together
And asked me capture the lovely moment...
I didn't know when I had fallen in love with love.
Perhaps that is why I can't ever define.
I found love when he would touch her little bump,
And speak to a creature who perhaps may be too busy slumbering,
I found love when he would cry when she was in pain,
I found love when he would wake up in the mid night,
To never disappoint her hunger mood swings,
When he would cry every night to his Lord to keep her safe
And to let them both enter Paradise, the final abode together.
He wouldn't care what the world would say,
He would smile and nod
If he knew she was doing the right thing.
I found love when he laughed out to the entire world,
But wouldn't ever hesitate to shed tears on her shoulder
He was messed up. Flawed. But she knew deep within
Nobody else could be more perfect
Than he was for her.
I found love not when two souls were blinded
Blinded to see the evil grin behind the coy smile,
Rather I found love when she would say
It's alright to be flawed
And when she promised him
That they would become better together.
Their journey wasn't filled with roses and gifts
Kisses and laughter
It was much more than all that...
A lifetime of prayers
Teary nights
Poetic lines
Possessiveness mistaken for jealousy
And a lifetime of love for each other
For the sake of Rabb who Created them.
In His love, every soul shall find his love.
Until then, illusions shall be created,
Stories shall be written,
Poems for her shall be penned and crumpled.
All along, you perhaps forgot
One above had Written
The most beautiful story ever
He paved a pathway
Unlike any other.
All you had to do was wait.
All you have to do is to wait...
What shall a heart hasten for when it's so uncertain?
Let the Turner of Hearts decide
You'll find your heart being directed...
Find the Mercy he had placed
And finally know love
And keep learning until the soul shall leave the meek physique.
Ya Ar-Rahman*
Let me love you in a way
That I didn't or wouldn't be able to comprehend
Ya Al- Wadood*, shower your Love upon us.
May our souls remain forever the slave of Yours.
