Must I Settle for Mediocrity?

Far away not in a distant land,

An entrapped soul lived within its confines.

The one that could feel,

If not see.

The one that could perceive,

If not experience.

The one that could hope,

If not live.

The one unlike others,

Perhaps. Perhaps.

In this world where we are meant to belong,

Where one must meet another,

Love and empathize...

Live some souls that fail to see the scattered stardust,

Who fail to see the constellations,

Because to them stars aren't just a creation of beauty,

But something deep that hold secrets and stories that shan't be told.

And to them stardust isn't a thing.

To them people aren't just physiques that roam with a couple of nerves,

But an embodiment of aura that thrives emotions, passion and goodness,

And in this little world of the soul,

She wonders if she'll ever meet someone like her.

None of us have learnt enough,

Or figured the questions of blank space.

Not any soul knows everything beyond the universe or here,

But somewhere within this soul,

Lie answers for billions of questions,

That can't be spoken aloud,

amassed secrets,

That even the physique doesn't understand or the mind doesn't perceive.

Too deep to be told,

Too delicate to be held,

Too distant to be near.

With everything that looms within,

The soul somehow needs to belong,

For indeed to belong is to be human,

And to know someone who would understand what one needs to speak,

Just by looking into orbs that have specks of brown dust,

Is that ever real?

But the biggest of fears captures and wails,

Must I settle for mediocrity?

What if I never belong?

And indeed, that is when the soul remembered,

The heart that belongs to the One above,

That dreams of the life after this,

Shall never belong amongst the hearts that beat only for this Dunya*.

So know that this too shall pass,

We all shall bid goodbye,

And hopefully pleasing the One above,

For without Him,

We would be nothing but scattered stardust,

With emotions all over the place,

Forgetting to form constellations,

Hence none shall perceive, see or admire.

*Dunya- This world, Islamically a temporary place where we must continuously strive to do good deeds and please the Lord and Worship only Him, Allah, hoping that He rewards us rightly in the hereafter, which we believe is the forever. This forever, however, is real.*
