Snow days, freezing rain days and cold days

When you live in Canada, such things as snow days are a common occurrence. However, in order to have a snow day in Canada, there has to be at least 3 inches or more of snow in a very short period of time. A short enough period of time that the snow plows aren't able to clear the roads in time for the buses to run. Or enough snow falling so fast that you can't see more then a few meters( a meter is a little over 3 feet) in front of you. What's more common then a SNOW day, is a snow day caused by freezing rain.

Side note: we call them snow days even if it's not caused by snow.

Freezing rain makes the roads really dangerous and even a little can turn the roads into an ice rink. So the school buses have to shut down.
Now, this last one, is the most uncommon, caused by temperatures so low that the buses won't even turn on. As previously mentioned in this book, in Canada we can experience temperatures of minus 40 degrees Celsius, in fact as I post this it is currently, with the wind chill, -41 out. Buses have been canceled.

Story time: a few years back we had a bunch of snow days happen all at once, we had a snow week. One right after another from Monday to Friday. It was amazing!

Story time take two: about two years ago, right after Christmas break, we went to school on the Monday then had three snow days in a row, then when to school on the Friday. This happened the following week. Again, amazing!
