Chapter Twelve

3rd Year, Slytherin Dormitories
Zac's POV

Annabel and I met in the Slytherin Common Room and she filled me in on what had happened in the hospital wing. I sucked in my breath.
"So Scorpius doesn't remember anything after leaving the library?"
Annabel nodded.
"And Albus is upset about this," I mused. Then it struck me. "Oh god, do you think something happened between them?"
Annabel's eyes lit up, and she nodded furiously, grinning.
"Of course! But now Scorpius doesn't remember anything, so Albus is upset. You're a genius, Zac," she replied, ruffling my hair. I slapped her hand away, scowling, and she giggled. I took a deep breath, and knocked on the door to the Slytherin dormitories. A weak voice told me to go away, but I opened the door and stepped in anyway, rolling my eyes. Albus was such a drama queen sometimes.
"Hey Albus. How are you?"
He scowled at me under his wet eyelashes.
"I'm obviously not fine," he retorted angrily. I sighed. The bell rang throughout the castle, and Annabel braced herself for the crowds of people about to pour into the common room. I turned back to Albus, who was sitting cross legged on his bed, his eyes full with tears.
"Please tell me what happened with Scorpius, when you accidentally knocked him over," I said gently. He shook his head fiercely.
Outside, Annabel had created a force field around the locked door to the dormitories, and was determinedly battling moaning people who were trying to get in. I gulped. She was very fierce, and good at spells, but I doubted even she could hold off a mob of older, angry Slytherins for long. I sat down on Albus's bed. The only way to help him was to tell him the truth.
"Al-Albus, I promise you I-I understand," I started awkwardly.
"Really," he scoffed.
I smiled weakly.
"Promise not to tell anyone?"
He nodded, frowning curiously.
"I-I think I'm bi," I stammered.

1st Year, Great Hall
Zac's POV

I sipped my golden goblet of pumpkin juice and gazed at his coffee brown messy hair. He was sitting next to a thin, white blond haired boy, smiling nervously and blushing a deep red as their hands brushed together as they reached for the pasta.
"Hello? Earth to Zac?"
A voice invaded my thoughts, making me jump. I blinked, and turned to face my twin sister. She raised her eyebrows. I smiled sheepishly at her, and took a bite of chicken.
"Seen any hot boys?" I asked casually, glancing over at the boy.
"Mmm, not really," she replied, looking round disparagingly. "What about you? You must have your eye a few unlucky girls!"
I punched her shoulder playfully as I desperately scanned the hall for a cute looking girl.
"I guess that Gryffindor girl ain't bad looking," I answered truthfully.
The girl glanced over at me, her golden blonde hair swishing over her shoulder. I grinned at her, and several Slytherin girls on the bench opposite me giggled to each other, blushing madly. The Gryffindor girl however raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow in disgust, and turned back to her friends, who gave me cold glares. I rolled my eyes. Maybe not.
"Zac, you know Gryffindors don't speak to us," Annabel sighed, glancing at the girl.
"Mm," I murmured. I didn't really care. The only person I wanted to speak to was in Slytherin. I smiled shyly at the cute boy, who was now laughing quietly at something the other boy had said. He glanced at me, and gave me a surprised but warm smile. I blushed, and looked down. Annabel sighed, and I looked up in alarm. Had she seen me looking at the boy? But to my surprise she wasn't looking at me. She was staring at the Gryffindor table with a strange look on her face. One that I had never seen on her face before. I frowned, and then it came to me as an electric shock that ran through my body, making me shiver. It was love.
