Chapter Sixteen

3rd Year, Hospital Wing
Annabel's POV

I burst into the hospital wing, and collapsed into the squishy grey chair next to Scorpius bed.
"You know, you could have told us whether it was good or bad news," I croaked.
Naomi handed me a glass of cool water, looking worried. I gave her a weak smile, and turned to Scorpius.
"So?"
He tore his eyes away from Albus, who was shyly looking at the floor, his cheeks burning crimson.
"It's good news," he told us, smiling. "I'm free to leave!"
Albus's eyes widened.
"You remembered everything?"
Scorpius shook his head, and Albus relaxed slightly.
"No, but Madam Pomfrey says I have no other symptoms. I can remember most things, except for that specific moment."
A shadow crossed Albus's face, and he looked down. I glanced at Naomi. She had noticed it as well. She narrowed her eyes at me.
"That's great news," beamed Naomi, and I nodded, smiling.
"Albus?" Scorpius looked over at Albus, blushing slightly.
"Yeah. I did all of your catch up and homework for you," he replied quietly, looking up.
"Really? You didn't have to do that," smiled Scorpius. Albus shrugged. "Well, thanks anyway."
"We'll help you move your stuff," Naomi suggested kindly.

3rd Year, Slytherin Common Room
Zac's POV

I sat down on the thin springy bed, sighing heavily. I wiped some sweat from my brow.
"Are we done?"
"Yeah. Thanks so much," replied Scorpius, carefully pressing a mountain of cards into a small suitcase.
Albus fell into the room, lugging a cardboard box threatening to burst out of the sellotape holding it shut. I laughed. He grinned self consciously at me, and turned to Scorpius, blushing.
"What on earth do you have in here? It weighs a ton!"
Scorpius looked down, his face burning scarlet.
"Oh, just a few bits and pieces."
I frowned, and opened my mouth to protest more, but Albus shot me a look. I sat back, observing the awkward tension between them.
"Aaargh!"
A loud squeal pierced the awkward silence, as Annabel came tumbling into the room. She smashed into the cardboard box and it split open.
"No!" Scorpius leapt off the bed to try and save the box. The smashing of glass filled the room as glittering splinters of broken glass spread all over the floor. Albus gasped. Annabel clapped her hand to her mouth in horror.
"I'm so sorry," she said, tears in her eyes. "Your mum..."
I looked closer at the mess. Behind the shattered frames were photos of a lady. She was a very beautiful lady with silvery blond hair and a playful smile. There were photos of her by herself, sticking her tongue out at the camera, photos with a serious man, her slender fingers turning the corners of his mouth up as he gazed at her with love, and photos of her with her arm around a small, slim boy with exactly the same hair. I realised with a shock that it was Scorpius.
Albus threw his arms around Scorpius, his eyes spilling over with salty tears that glistened on his cheek before being wiped off by Scorpius's grey jumper. Scorpius blushed a deep crimson, but then returned the hug, relaxing into the warmth of Albus's body. I felt a twinge of jealousy, but brushed it aside angrily. Everyone knew they were made for each other. Annabel gingerly stood up, wincing as she picked shards of glass out of her knees and hands. There was blood all over her legs, and her hands were dripping on the floor, causing a scarlet red pool on the floor, which was reflected in the millions of glass pieces. I looked at her, and she smiled bravely, raising her eyebrows as if to say ,"What? I'm only dripping with blood!"
"Hey, is everything okay up there? I heard a smash. What happened?"
A voice reached our ears from downstairs. It was Naomi.
"It's okay. We'll just stay here for a minute," said Albus from over Scorpius's shoulder. "You should get Annabel to the hospital wing."
I nodded, and helped Annabel down the stone spiral staircase. Naomi was pacing up and down at the bottom anxiously. She gasped as she saw Annabel's blood streaked hands and legs.
"What the? I told you not to try and get into the boys dormitory, Annabel. It doesn't let you!"
"Oh, she got in alright. Must be cause she looks so much like a boy," I teased. Annabel shoved me heavily across the room, but then winced at her painful hands.
"Alright, alright, I'm sorry. But yeah. It was just cause she fell onto one of Scorpius's boxes. Let's just say, it wasn't pretty."
Naomi shook her head.
"Never mind how it happened, we need to get her to Madam Pomfrey now!"
