What if Timpani Went With Him Part 1

(AN: This chapter is based of my book, "Wicked." It takes place at the start of the Defying Gravity chapter. All events beforehand are exactly the same, minus the first chapter! This one is also a musical, since the original book was a musical as well, so the song is linked at the top! Also, this one is gonna be a three part story!)

Dimentio ran up to the top of the tower, as Timpani rushed to follow.

Timpani: "Dimmy! Wait! Where are you going?!"

He frantically looked around once he reached the top, seeing that there was no where else to run. No way to escape.

Dimentio: "Oh no, looks like I'm at the top of the tower. We're cornered. There's no where else to go!"

Timpani: "Dimmy, Listen to me! Think of your reputation!"

Dimentio ignored her, and acted as if he didn't even hear her. He had only one bag with him now. The bag with the purple and yellow outfit, along with the new mask. He sighed, and set the bag down. knowing he left the rest of his bags down near Merlon's house.

Dimentio: "They're gonna but a band on me! I-I gotta barricade the elevator door!"

He began to charge for the door, when Timpani grabbed his arm and stopped him.

Timpani: "DIMMY!"

Dimentio: "NO TIMPANI! I don't care about what they think of me anymore! No one's ever loved me anyway! I can't keep waiting for love. I can't keep waiting for something good to happen! I won't follow the crowd and do whatever I'm told like a sheep walking straight into a slaughterhouse!"

Timpani: "Dimentio! What have I told you about the similes?!"

Dimentio: "Timpani, I don't have time for you to judge my way of speaking."

Timpani: "Dimentio! Seriously! There are rules. You can't just yell at an ancient. I'm sure this is a big misunderstanding, okay?!"

Dimentio: "NO!"

He slowly calmed down.

Dimentio: "No. I....I'm done with rules. I'm done with limitations. I'm not going to let anything hold me down. Not that stupid book, not the bands, not the ancients, nothing."

She gave him a hopeless look.

Timpani: "Dimmy, there's always going to be some rules that hold you down. You can't just defy everything. There's always gonna be something, so minus well work from within them."

Dimentio: "......No."

Now she was beginning to get frustrated with him.

Timpani: "Listen, I love that you've got your own beliefs. Really, I do, but this is an ancient we're talking about! You can't just do that!"

Dimentio: "Oh really? Says who?"

Timpani gripped his arm tighter.

AN: Music Start-

Timpani: "Dimentio! Why couldn't you have stayed calm for once?
Instead of flying off the handle!

I hope you're happy!
I hope you're happy now!
I hope you're happy how you've
Hurt your cause forever
I hope you think you're clever."

Dimentio yanked his arm away.

Dimentio: "I hope you're happy,
I hope you're happy, too....
I hope you're proud how you

Would grovel in submission

To feed your own ambition"

Both: "So though I can't imagine how......
I hope you're happy,

Right, now......."

She gave his arm a yank and forced him to look at her.

Timpani: "Dimmy, listen to me.
Just say you're sorry!

You can still be with the ancients.
What you've worked and waited for.....
You can have all you ever wanted-"

Dimentio: "I know.
But I don't want it

No,

I can't want it anymore....."

He took a breath and slowly looked over the edge of the tower.

The horizon went on, infinitely.

Limitless...

He felt a soft breeze.

Dimentio: ".....Something has changed within me....
Something is not the same.

I'm through with playing by,
The rules of someone else's game.

Too late for second-guessing
Too late to go back to sleep.....

It's time to trust my instincts

Close my eyes.....

And leap.....

It's time to try defying gravity
I think I'll try defying gravity
And you can't pull me down...."

He was about to step off when Timpani ran up and pulled him back.

Timpani: "Can't I make you understand,
You're having delusions of grandeur!"

He pushed her away again.

Dimentio: "I'm through accepting limits!
'Cause someone says they're so.....

Some things I cannot change,
But 'til I try, I'll never know!

Too long I've been afraid of
Losing love I guess I've lost!

Well, if that's love,
It comes at much too high a cost.....

I'd sooner buy defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye, I'm defying gravity
And you can't pull me down....."

Dimentio looked out to the horizon, then back at Timpani. He smiled a soft smile, then walked to her and grabbed her hands.

Dimentio: "Timpani, come with me. Think of what we could do....
Together.

Unlimited.....
Together, we're unlimited.
Together we'll be the greatest team there's ever been....
Timpani, dreams the way we planned them...."

She slowly smiled back at him.

Timpani: "If.....we work in tandem."

Both: "There's no fight we cannot win....

Just you and I, defying gravity!

With you and I defying gravity,

Dimentio: "They'll never bring us down...."

-Music Pause 3:45 -

Timpani slowly let go.

Dimentio: "Well....are you coming?"

She paused a moment. Her brain was telling her no, but her heart was saying yes. It was quite a big decision to make, and she didn't have much time to make it. One way or another, her life was about to change forever, based on what she did right here, right now.

She looked to the bag Dimentio set down. The bag with his mask and his clothes. Then, she silently walked over, picked it up, and slung it over her shoulder, and gave him a soft smile.

Timpani: "Of course I'm coming."

Dimentio's eyes lit up, and he quickly pulled her into a hug, tears threatening to spill.

Dimentio: "I knew I could count on you to do the right thing!"

Their moment was quickly interrupted as they heard the elevator door chime.

Crowd: "There they are! Get them!"

People ran up and started charging for the duo, when Dimentio quickly grabbed her arm and started sprinting for the edge of the tower.

Timpani: "Dimmy, what are you doing?! This is a dead end!"

Dimentio: "Just trust me! And hold on!!"

He quickly jumped off the edge, holding her wrist. Timpani squeezed her eyes shut and screamed as the crowd all made confused noises.

Then, Dimentio and Timpani both floated up about thirty feet into the air. The whole crowd's jaws dropped as they flew above them all.

Dimentio beamed and held her hand up, lightly laughing, as Timpani slowly opened her eyes and gasped.

- Music Start 4:27 -

Dimentio: "SO IF YOU CARE TO FIND US!

LOOK TO THE MIDNIGHT SKY!
AS SOMEONE TOLD LATELY,

'EVERYONE DESERVES THE CHANCE TO FLY!'

Timpani: "And you're not flying solo!!!!"

Dimentio: "But I'm still flying free!!!!"

Both: "To those who ground us,
Take a message back from WE.....

TELL THEM HOW WE ARE DEFYING GRAVITY!
WE'RE FLYING HIGH, DEFYING GRAVITY!!!!!
And soon, we'll match them in renown....."

Dimentio smiled at Timpani, and let out a relived sigh. It felt so good not to be alone.

Dimentio: "And nobody, not one of us
No ancient that there is or was.
Is ever gonna bring....

US..... DOWN!!!!"

Timpani: "I  AM SO HAPPY!!!!"

Crowd: "Look at them! They're wicked!
Get them!!!"

Both: "BRING US DOWN!!!!"

Crowd: "No one mourns the wicked, so we've got to bring them,

Both: "OH WHOA OH OH!!!!"

Crowd: "DOWN....!"

Dimentio snapped his fingers, making Timpani and himself disappear, leaving nothing but a few ripples in their place.

________

The two of them landed at the base of those cliff Dimentio had shown to Timpani just one short day ago. The young woman quickly let go of his hand and squealed excitedly.

Timpani: "OMG DIMMY!!! DID YOU SEE THAT?! YOU COULD FLY!!! THAT WAS SO COOL!!!"

Dimentio lightly chuckled at her excitement.

Dimentio: "Yes, yes, Timpani. I Obviously saw it."

Timpani: "And the way you just....WHOOSH! Teleported us away! That was SO COOL!!!!"

They both smiled... and just stood there for a moment.

Timpani: "So.... what now?"

Dimentio looked around at the ocean. There was a distant barge going of in the distance. He smiled.

Dimentio: "Well.... why don't we just do the next right thing?"

Timpani: "Right! Right! The next right thing! .....And what would that be?"

He giggled at her, and shrugged.

Dimentio: "I haven't the slightest idea."

______

Not far off, in the dark of the night, someone else was suffering.

Mother: "Son, come here."

An 18 year old, sobbing man stepped forward. His mother was lying in a small bed, surrounded by the rest of their tribe.

Tribe Member#1: "She doesn't have long."

The young man squeezed his eyes shut. This was a pain he'd never felt before. Losing a loved one.

Mother: "Could you please look at me?"

He slowly opened his eyes, which were a shade of blue.

Mother: "Come closer."

He slowly kneeled down next to her and leaned down. She lowered her voice to a whisper.

Mother: ".....I love you, Blumiere."

Blumiere: ".....M-Mom, I-"

Mother: "Shh shh shh. Listen. I have to tell you something."

He slowly nodded.

Mother: "Can you..... do something for me?"

Blumiere: "Anything."

Mother: "......Please, when I'm gone, live your life. Live YOUR life. Not....not the life HE wants you to live."

Blumiere: ".....But mom, father-"

Mother: "I don't care what your father says. I know you've always wished to live your own life. Don't let our tribe stop you from being you. Please. I've seen what it can do to even the happiest of people. Don't....don't let them force you to be unhappy. I don't want you to just be a member of this Tribe. I want you to be you. I want you to be Blu. My unique, special Blu."

He slowly nodded again, before breaking into more tears.

Mother: "Hey, shhh. It's gonna be okay."

Blumiere squeezed his eyes shut and shook his head.

Blumiere: "No. It wont. Sometimes, it feels like you're the only one who loves me in here. And now you're leaving. I....I don't want you to go."

She raised a shaky hand to his face.

Mother: "I'll always be here. So long as you remember me, I'll never leave you, my son."

She slowly closed her eyes. He grabbed her hand, and felt her strength leave her.

Blumiere: "M-mom....? Mom?! MOM!"

Another tribe Member kneeled down and checked her pulse, before shaking his head. Blumiere broke into loud, painfilled sobs.

Blumiere: "N-no. Please, no. Mom, come back. Please.... don't leave me alone."

She had been sick for nearly five months now, with some sort of incurable disease. During this time, Blumiere's father had become more and more distant, hardly ever checking up on his son. Not that he did much previously. It seemed that all he'd do was keep Blumiere in line.

Tribe Member#2: "I'm sorry, Blumiere. It's time to let go."

The tribe member slowly placed a hand on Blumiere's shoulder, when Blumiere jerked away.

Blumiere: "NO!"

He quickly stood up and took off running as fast as he could. To where, he had no idea. Tears stained his face as he ran.

Tribe Member #1: "Should someone stop him?"

Tribe Member #2: "He just needs a minute to clear his head. You know how he gets. He's the most emotional member we have. He'll be back once he's had time to cool down."

Blumiere ran. To where? He had no idea. He ignored everything else, and ran far and fast, until he couldn't anymore. He found himself atop of some high cliffs, overlooking the ocean. He dropped to his knees about a foot from the edge and hugged himself.

Blumiere: "I hate this. I hate everything."

He loudly sobbed.

He couldn't believe his mother was gone. He still had his father, but his father stopped being really a father after when Blumiere was about five years old. Blumiere didn't know what happened, but it didn't matter.

He just felt so alone.

Blumiere: "It can't be. It.....it just can't-"

Suddenly, he heard a loud cracking noise. He stopped talking and jerked his head up.

Blumiere: "What was-"

The ground below him began to crumble. The cliffs were incredibly unstable, and he was right on top of them. He quickly stood up, only causing the ground to crumble more. A panic arose in him, since He wasn't powerful enough yet to levitate. He tried running, when the ground below him fell away, him going with it. It all happened so fast. He didn't even have time to react.

He began to scream out for help. But who would be able to help him now?! These cliffs were in a somewhat secluded area, so the chances for someone to have been there to hear his cries for help were slim.

Slim, but not zero.
