What if the Alternate L Never Gave Dimentio the Note Pt. 3
"And... Done!" The Alternate Dimentio beamed once it was finished.
Mr. L whimpered in pain, feeling streaks of blood drip down from his eyes. He shakily raised his hands to feel the golden gems covering them. He couldn't see anymore, and it hurt so bad.
There was only darkness.
He wanted to cry, only it was difficult to even form tears. He could feel liquid drip down his face, but that liquid was much stickier, thicker, and denser, so he could tell it was his blood and not his tears.
"Shhh, it's okay now," The alternate Dimentio cooed, leaning in and gently kissing his cheek, causing the man in green to shiver and whimper. "Welcome home... L"
"Don't..." Mr. L whimpered, not moving away. Just trembling in place.
"Hmm, well, I suppose we should get on with things," The alternate Dimentio breathed. "I'm starving. It's been so long since I've had a proper meal..."
The vile creature suddenly snatched Mr. L's wrist with a deathly tight grip and held it tight, watching him like a predator watches its prey. Mr. L winced and whimpered, unable to see or protect himself in any way.
"Now, let's get on with-"
"PUT. HIM. DOWN!" Came Dimentio's voice from the other end of the room all of a sudden, sounding somewhat out of breath.
The alternate Dimentio froze, then rolled his eyes and turned to him, still gripping Mr. L's wrist. "Well, well, well, well, well well well well well well well. Look who finally came back. Have you changed your mind as well?" He asked.
"I see your appearance has drastically changed," Dimentio spat, looking at the being which now closely resembled himself.
The real Dimentio stood frozen at the edge of the room, glaring. He slowly clenched his fists, when the Alternate Dimentio, or the Manguer, eyed the monocle on the chain around his neck. He squinted his diamond eyes slightly, then brought his attention to Dimentio's left hand, where three small balls were being held tightly.
"Ah, came back for the ghost eyes, did you?" The Manguer asked.
"I came back for him." Dimentio coldly replied, pointing to Mr. L. "The ghost eyes were just a plus. Now LET. HIM. GO!"
"You came back for me...?" Mr. L softly whispered, making Dimentio straighten up slightly, confused as to why he just spoke with such ease.
"You... you can talk?" Dimentio questioned.
"Oh... OH, this is rich!" The Manguer laughed, jerking Mr. L forward and holding him in front of himself. "YOU think this is the ALTERNATE Mr. L, don't you?"
Dimentio didn't reply.
After all, he didn't know what to think. He didn't plan on coming back, but the guilt of leaving the alternate Mr. L behind was too much, and he had to return. And lucky for him, the door happened to be unlocked. But when he got here, he didn't expect to see what he saw. When he saw the helpless man in green standing there with blood streaking down from his golden eyes, he didn't even consider that it could be the real thing.
"Where. Is he?" Dimentio demanded.
"Oh, that little puppet?" The manguer asked, before shoving Mr. L forward slightly. "Why don't you tell him, Mr. L?"
Mr. L continued trembling, though his yellow eyes were emotionless.
"I-I think I saw him on the roof," Mr. L softly stammered. "He was... he was..."
The man in green weakly gestured to his neck.
Dimentio just stared at him, confused for a moment, before he put two and two together, taking a step back and his eyes widening.
"N-No...." He whispered.
"YES!" The Manguer laughed. "He's strung up like a maronette! How delightfully humorous! Look at that heartbroken expression in your eyes! YOU FELL IN LOVE WITH A CREATION! IT WASN'T EVEN REAL!" He laughed, as Mr. L looked down, feeling almost heartbroken.
Of course it wasn't him Dimentio came back for.
Dimentio just stood there, horrified and trembling now.
"Y-you...." Dimentio stammered, narrowing his eyes. "You killed him."
"That, I did," The Manguer chimed, sounding oddly peppy. "Now, I'd leave if I were you, jester."
Dimentio just stood there, trembling for moment before he finally said,
"No."
"No?" The manguer asked.
Mr. L looked up, though he still couldn't see, with his empty eyes, confused.
Come on, Dimentio. Now's your change to escape, he thought
"No." Dimentio repeated. "I came for a Mr. L, so you better believe I'll be returning with one."
He suddenly rushed forward and grabbed Mr. L's wrist, sprinting back towards that door. But, the Manguer didn't stop him.
"Oh no, come back," The Manguer sarcastically laughed as Dimentio sprinted away, Mr. L blindly following him. Dimentio ignored his words and just continued sprinting as his laughter filled the halls.
"W-what are you doing?!" Mr. L asked as Dimentio quickly pulled him along.
"I told you not to take that key! Not to mess with things you didn't understand!" Dimentio scolded. "Why couldn't you just listen this once?!"
"I-well, I, I had nothing back there! You hated me, I was lonely, I was desperate for something to do!" Mr. L argued.
"Ah. So desperate that you sold your life away to a...a... I don't even know what he is!" Dimentio shouted. "Do you even know what he does?! He hollows you out until you're nothing!!!"
"I-I didn't want to! He wasn't letting me leave!!" Mr. L cried, when he felt Dimentio suddenly kneel down.
The jester snatched the key from Mr. L and threw open the small door, before grabbing his hand and pulling him inside. However, the second Mr. L's hand went through a strong, painful burning sensation spread through his body, causing him to yelp and yank his hand back.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow," Mr. L whimpered.
"What the, L, what are you doing?!" Dimentio frantically asked, trying to pull him in again, only for the same reaction.
"Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha," The Manguer laughed, walking into the room, slowly clapping his hands. "Oh, Dimentio, Dimentio, Dimentio. You never learn, do you?"
"W-what?!" Dimentio squeaked, confused as Mr. L held his hand to his chest in pain.
"Why do you think the alternate Mr. L didn't follow you to the real world~?" The Manguer laughed, before tapping his own glowing yellow eye. "These things, they bind us to this world. He can't leave. He's mine now."
Dimentio frowned, then looked at the two yellow gems sewn onto Mr. L's eyes. Fresh blood was still streaking down his face. It looked even more horrifying than the smile sewn onto the Alternate L's face.
"Try bringing him through, I dare you," The Manguer laughed. "He'd burn away to nothing by the time you got half way though the tunnel."
Mr. L paused, then turned his head towards where he thought Dimentio was, pulling out the one ghost eye he found from the room with the rats and shoving it into the jester's hands. "T-take it and save them," Mr. L whispered.
"What?!" Dimentio whisper- screamed. "But what about you?! You're-"
"Trapped. I know, I know," Mr. L breathed. "But it was already too late for me as soon as I stepped in here. It's not too late for you. It's not too late for them."
"Ah, yes. How heroic. Go ahead. Take the empty souls. They serve no purpose to me anymore now that I have a new one," The Manguer chimed.
Dimentio just stared at the man in green for a moment, shaking his head. This scene was all to familiar. It was almost exactly what had happened with the alternate L. "Go," Mr. L begged. "I don't want you to become trapped in here like I am-"
Dimentio suddenly interrupted him by pulling him into a soft kiss. The Manguer just smiled and burst out laughing as the jester gently pressed his lips to the man in green's.
"Oh, how sad." The Manguer laughed. "Just like before, ey, Dimentio?"
"....No," Dimentio mumbled, pulling away and smiling an almost determined smile. "Now I apologize. This is going to hurt." He told Mr. L
He suddenly digged his fingernails under the gems on the man in green's eyes, causing the him to scream and cry out in pain.
"What the- hey! STOP THAT!" The Manguer cried when Dimentio suddenly ripped the two gems out, casing Mr. L to fall forward and cover his eyes as a fresh wave of blood spilled from them.
"D-Dimentio, I can't see," He cried. "It hurts. I-I can't see."
"I'll see for you," Dimentio assured, grabbing his arm and pulling him through the tunnel, slamming the door shut and locking it while the Manguer screamed and cried, frantically banging on the door.
The jester quickly pulled him through, only now the tunnel seemed longer and more uphill, as if it was trying to make leaving harder. More difficult and less enticing.
"We're almost there!" Dimentio assured, when he reached the other end of the door, the two tumbling out of it. He let out a short sigh of relief, then rushed to lock the door. Next he picked up a small rock, took the black key out and crushed it, breaking it to pieces.
He paused once it was done and took a moment to catch his breath. Meanwhile the man in green trembled, sitting on his hands and knees, drops of blood dropping from his face to the ground.
"Dimentio..." He whimpered. "Dimentio, I-I can't see."
"Hey, hey," Dimentio softly assured, kneeling down and grabbing his shoulders. "I know. I know. But it's over now..."
"I... can't see..." He cried. "I can't see. I-it hurts..."
"Mr. L...."
"I.. you didn't get hurt, did you?!" He cried, looking up with blood red, broken eyes which he could barely open. "D-Did he hurt you?!"
"No. Mr. L, I'm fine." Dimentio assured, looking away so he didn't have to look at Mr. L's broken eyes. Just looking at them made him almost feel guilty.
"Okay... okay..." Mr. L breathed, slightly relieved.
Dimentio paused, feeling his eyes soften slightly, looking at the broken, helpless man in green.
I-well, I, I had nothing back there! You hated me, I was lonely, I was desperate for something to do!
"....I don't hate you," Dimentio whispered, causing the man in green to raise his chin slightly and try forcing his eyes open, however he still couldn't see. They hurt so so bad.
"Y-you don't?" Mr. L asked, voice small.
"I thought I did..." Dimentio admitted. "But I don't. I... I apologize for... making you feel like you needed to go there."
Mr. L paused.
"I'm sorry... that the guy you came for... I'm sorry he..." The man in green stammered, when Dimentio calmly shushed him.
"You know... he wasn't real. No matter how real he felt, I have to remember he wasn't." Dimentio breathed. "And, I didn't realize until you were willing to stay there if it meant I could go free, but... you two really are similar."
Then the jester softly smiled. "Perhaps the same even..."
Mr. L paused, then raised his and to his broken eyes.
"But... I still can't see...."
"Then here," Dimentio replied, taking his hands and helping him stand.
"Let me be your eyes."
