Sherlock Holmes x Harry Potter

What if - You were a part of a universe, where Sherlock Holmes adopted Harry Potter?

Written for Zex_88... again :D Please keep in mind, that I'm not familiar with the Sherlock Holmes series, so please excuse any mistakes. Though I'd be happy if you showed me what I did wrong, so I can correct it. Have fun!

P.S.; I hope I covered all your questions... XD

3rd pov.

William Sherlock Scott Holmes was not happy. With something that was similar to a glare he stared at the two people in front of him. John Watson stood beside him, and a little further stood Holmes' brother, Mycroft Holmes. It was easy to tell that he was not pleased with what he'd been told.

"Wizards? Is that supposed to be a joke? Because it sure as hell sounds like one.", Watson asked, disbelief in his eyes. He'd been told a lot of things - the existence of a secret wizarding world hadn't been one of them. Yet.

"I assure you, that this is no joke. We'd like Sherlock Holmes to help us in a case we have not been able to solve yet. The ministry is helpless, and none of the leads held success for us. We are out of options.", the first one said, in a serious voice. The second one stayed quiet, following the ongoing conversation. He was only there to observe, and, if needed, interfere. Until now it didn't seem to be necessary.

"Yeah, no. I still have stuff going on, that I'd like to get done, so..."

Mycroft raised an eyebrow. "Which would be...?"

"Feeding my cat."

"You don't even own one."

"..."

"Well, I guess it's decided then.", Watson said irritated. "We'll try our best."

The second wizard breathed out. Looked like he wouldn't have to obliviate any of them.

Around a year later, Sherlock Holmes found himself working for the ministry of magic on some occasions. Watson accompanied him as usual, and Mycroft arranged everything. Though they could not tell anyone about it.

Holmes somehow began to actually enjoy working with the ministry (as long as they wouldn't act all too stupid, likke they did sometimes), and soon he was recruited by a man named Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore. The headmaster of Hogwarts liked the detectives open and clever mind, and assigned him a task no one had been able to fulfill yet; he asked Sherlock Holmes to find proof that Voldemort would return.

Quickly, they found a stragety, and Sherlock Holmes a new job...

"I really don't like this, Sherlock.", Watson complained. "Why do I have to become a student, while you get to be a teacher!"

"I'm trying to investigate below the teachers. Besides, I'm more fitted for that kind of work.", the detective answered absently. Watson grumbled.

"Easy for you to say..."

The first year ran by, and while Sherlock collected proof as a teacher, Watson found a place between the students. There he met Harry Potter, who would later be involved in the whole case. It was a normal evening, where he visited his friend Sherlock, where he started to complain about the boy's situation.

"I simply don't get why he's still living with them. Like, you know, there are so many ways, where he'd be safe, and not in reach of those horrible people who call themselfes family!"

Sherlock nodded, sensing the anger radiating from his friend. He himself was angry, and started to feel like he should take things into his own hands. In the end, Harry Potter was part of his case, right?

At the end of the school year, Sherlock presented the evidence he'd collected to Dumbledore. Both knew, that it wouldn't be enough for the ministry, so they decided to wait another year. This went on until Harry Potter's fourth year, where the events began to become dramatic. During all this time, Harry grew to see them as brother and father figures... Watson being the brother, since he still used the charm to lower his age.

Sherlock was more than just nervous. Watson, Harry and Cedric Diggory had not returned yet, and he feared the worst. He couldn't care less about what happened to a dangerously high number of students, but he suspected the worst. It was conformed when Harry Potter returned with the dead body of Cedric Diggory, and Watson behind them. Sherlock stood frozen. Watson and Harry looked shaken, and he hurried over. Over the time he'd begun to care about the boy-who-lived, almost like a father. He knew how he was treated by the Dursley's, yet it hadn't been enough to convince him, that he'd actually be able to be a better family to them.

"What happened?", he aaked Watson hurriedly, and his momentary childlike friend answered, pale:

"You-know-who is back."

Sherlock's worst nightmare had become true.

After the recent events, he finally went to Dumbledore. Some papers were in his hands, and in big letters, the Headmaster of Hogwarts read: Adoption. He sighed.

"You know why we can't take him from there."

"I don't care.", Sherlock stated matter-of-factly. "I've seen enough. He'd be better off without them, with people who'd be a real family to him."

He seemed more serious than ever. Dumbledore raised an eyebrow.

"Have you asked him yet? I know that he's quite fond of you, but adoption is a whole different thing..."

He shook his head. Determination in his eyes. Dumbledore weighed up the two options, until he finally nodded.

"If he says yes, then so be it."

The next year, Sherlock, Watson and Harry waited for the train to Hogwarts together. Sherlock checked each bag thrice, while Harry and Watson exchanged looks.

"I'm serious, Dad. I know that I've packed everything I need!"

"Oh really? Did you pack a second coat for the winter? A coat for the fall? Your quills? The ink?", Sherlock replied, still looking going through an imaginary list. Harry rolled his eyes.

"I swear, uncle Watson helped me."

He gave him a look. "You do realise that he's forgot several things over the last semesters?"

"So?", Harry shrugged. "It wasn't like you didn't help him."

"Sherlock, the boy'll be fine. We have everything we need.", Watson chimed in. He, as well, received a look.

"I'll remind you of that, once we're in Hogwarts and you're asking for something." Then he turned back to Harry. "Have you gotten the new bag that Mycroft send you?"

"Yes. I'll write him a letter once we've arrived."

Over the summer break, Sherlock had grown to be even more like a father. Now, the three of them (and sometimes Mycroft) were almost inseperatable. Harry had been shocked at first, to learn that Watson was actually an adult, but now he saw him as an uncle/brother, instead of just a brother. Even Mycroft had taken a liking to the boy, though his love was shown more through 'little' gifts and doings. It was safe to say, that Sherlock, every time another gift arrived, was more than just irritated.

Aside from that, Sherlock still worked. He'd solve cases together with Watson, and teached Harry more about 'muggle' science. Harry discovered, that it was something, he actually thought of as interesting. Besided, he even tried to help with the cases and the block (if it wasn't some murder case, as usual. Sherlock really didn't want him to see that.).

The Dursley's however were not that blessed. The moment Sherlock had chosen to adopt Harry had been right on time, as they had lost their patience the exact time, Sherlock had come to get the boy. He was able to stop the slap Harry'd been about to receive, thus been able to get the adoption through without any problems.

And of course, there was a 'no drugs' rule in the Holmes family now, since Sherlock didn't want Harry to go down the same path as him. Harry had happily agreed to that, not seeing the sense in drugs anyway. So now, they were a family Sherlock couldn't be more proud of. Naturally, Watson still had to go undercover, as the ministry still did not believe in You-Know-Who's return.

"Alright. I'll see you in school.", he blinked at them, and Harry laughed.

"See you dad.", Harry called, already running up to his three friend, that stood a few feet away, waving exictedly.

"See you soon, Sherlock.", Watson bid goodbye, following the boy he now was to protect at all cost.

Sherlock watched the two reunite with the bushy-haired Hermione Granger, the red-head Ronald Weasly and the young (y/n) (l/n), who winked at him.

Everything was fine.
