Chapter 15: Hunger is no More! 4-8-16 and 4-10-16
Our lips curved into big smiles. This room was definitely the kitchen. There was a see-through fridge filled with cheese, shelves of meat and loaves of bread. There was even a basket filled to the brim of green apples. Those must be for the wizard. There was also glass bottles filled with a variety of different colors on the other side of the room. There were bottles of orange, blue, purple, and a gross brownie grey color. They were too high for us to reach though.
We dashed into the room farther, going straight for the apples. I stuffed two in each of my coat pockets and started chomping away hungrily at another one. It was sour and very juicy. It felt so good to eat real food again that wasn't stale, moldy, or raw.
Merry took a foot long loaf of wheat bread and slapped a whole bunch of cheese inside it. I did the same. We were so happy, we couldn't even talk. We had been longing for this moment since we had been captured by the Urka Hai.
In the corner of the room, there was dripping water from the ceiling. I walked over to it and opened my mouth, as I looked up. It was dripping really fast, looking like a mini waterfall. It didn't take long until my shirt was dripping wet, along with my hair and face. Merry came over, so I gave him a turn with the water.
I went back to the food area and started opening all the low cupboards. Nothing I found in any of them, but two. One had trays and empty bottles in it and the other had a whole bunch of bags. I took two of them. It was small, brown, and had one black strap, to swing over your shoulder. I started filling the bags with food and other stuff I had found. In one bag I dumped the entire basket of apples in. In the other bag, I filled it with bread, two bottles, and two trays. I walked back over to the water where Merry was finishing up his long drink.
"We are super lucky, what did you find?" he asked.
I held up the bags and told him what was inside each of them. We filled up the two bottle with the dripping water from the ceiling and placed them back in the bag with the bread. Merry took the bag that was heavier, which was the one with apples, and I held the other one. We both swung the bags onto our backs
"Before we go, I think you should wash of your arm in the water," Merry explained.
I nodded and started unraveling the bandage. It was hard taking it off since the dried blood made it stick to me like glue. Once the bandage was off, I stuck my arm under the dripping water. I tried scrubbing off all the unwanted blood stains on my arm too. Before long, it looked a lot better. It was just a deep gash in my arm that hurt.
I then remembered the map I found in the other room, "I found a map of Oranc!"
"It's Orthanc, which bag is it in?"
"It's actually in my pocket," I pulled it out of my blue coat pocket and we both stared at it. It was a little wet in some corners from the water we had just drank. There was a whole bunch of diagrams of different levels of Orthanc, but we just looked at level one.
"It looks like if we go back to the main room where we saw the Palantiri, and then we go south, we will be free," Merry said tracing his finger through the map.
I looked up from the map and looked around the room again. This room only had one door just like the map showed. The only way out of this room was if we went back out the door we came through. That would mean we would have to wait for the fighting of the orcs to subdue before we headed back that way.
"We are very lucky you found this," Merry said. I nodded, we had finally found a way out. All we had to do was accomplish it.
