2: Pondering The Question
"B-Begin what!?" Marcy screamed, trying to back up, but she couldn't. There was no ground for her to walk on. She was just...floating.
The Night cackled. "Now...let's see what demented thoughts you have in your mind."
Then? Tendrils similar to some kind of glowing slime grabbed Marcy's wrists, and then plunged into the back of her neck.
"AH! IT'S COLD!" Marcy exclaimed, shivering.
The Night's eyes rolled to the back of his head, only showing his demented orange glow. "Hmmm...oh...OH, THIS SHOULD BE FUN."
"What are you doing!? Are you looking through my memories!?" Marcy screamed again, trying to escape.
"Nah, already looked through those...looking through your...what do you humans call them...fantasies? Yes. That was it." The Night laughed.
"HEY!!! THOSE ARE PRIVATE!!!" Marcy shrieked before the gooey slime let go of her and disappeared into the darkness.
"Oh, Mar-Mar...you poor little thing...I think you should be happy. I'm about to make each fantasy of yours a reality. Anything is possible in the mindscape." The Night said, kicking back and putting his arms behind his head as he floated around.
"Wait...you're...making me live through...? How is that eternal suffering?" Marcy asked.
"I've heard heartbreak is quite painful." The Night cackled. "But in the meantime...ponder a question as you live through your own demented imagination...WHAT IF?"
Marcy felt the dark area become warm and then suddenly become a blazing inferno. She screamed...but no one except The Night heard.
"Did it ever occur to you, Anne, Sasha? That one of you knew more than she was letting on?" Andrias asked as he sat on his throne. "That one of you...got you stranded in Amphibia...ON PURPOSE?"
"You have got to be kidding me." Sasha breathed.
"No, it can't be." Anne said, shaking her head. She couldn't believe it. She didn't WANT to believe it.
Marcy felt tears begin to form in her eyes and she turned to her best friends. Her best friends in the whole wide world.
"OOPS! Looks like I spilled the tea as you kids say! Haha!" Andrias exclaimed, slapping his knee.
"I-I did it for us." Marcy whispered. "The day we left, your birthday, they told me, my dad got a new job out of state! They were making me move away! They were gonna tear us apart!"
"Marcy..." Anne said, her eyes widening. She wanted to deny it at first...but now Marcy was saying what Andrias told them was true. It hurt in many ways.
"I-I found the box, and I had no idea that it would actually work, but it DID! And it sent us to a place where we'd never have to grow apart, where the three of us could be friends forever together!"
Sasha growled and backed off, stepping away despite her hands being tied. Marcy was another puppet in her eyes, and now? The puppet was the puppetmaster. A deranged one.
"How could you...?" Anne whispered. "I've been missing my parents! MY LIFE!"
"But look at how much fun we've had, look at how much you've grown!" Marcy cried. "Look at Sprig! I gave you this! I gave you everything!"
Anne didn't even backseat. She just stared at Marcy...betrayed.
Marcy began to sob, squeezing Anne's hand and hanging her head low. "I-I...j-just...didn't wanna be alone..."
"Marcy..." Anne said suddenly before placing a hand under her chin and lifting her head. "I...I know you didn't wanna be alone, but...we can't stay here."
"B-But m-my parents-"
"They aren't going to take you away from me, and I'm not being taken away from you." Anne told her. "We won't be torn apart. We've gone through all THIS just to be together again! What's one little move gonna do?"
Marcy felt a smile creep onto her lips. "I...I...you...won't leave me...?"
"No." Anne said, shaking her head. She looked at Sasha, who was disgusted by both of her friends. Anne didn't care though. "I'm not leaving you...I've grown a lot...but we can't stay."
Marcy nodded. "Y-Yeah...! We gotta get home."
Anne nodded before she and Marcy faced Andrias. "Now, where were we?"
Andrias sighed as he shook his head, clicking his tongue as he stood. And that's when he took out a sword handle with no blade. "How sentimental..."
Suddenly, the handle ignited a blade of pure fire.
Anne quickly cut Sasha free with her sword, and then cut Grime free. Sprig hopped right next to Anne, holding his slingshot.
"We're with you! Til the end!"
Andrias pointed to the heroes, commanding his robot army to attack.
The robots did indeed attack, but they were no match for the heroes. Lasers, arrows, swords, and mud were all fired. But Andrias couldn't seem to win.
"ENOUGH!!!" Andrias screamed as he slammed his sword into the ground, sending a wave of fire.
Anne and Marcy quickly dodged before lunging at Andrias. Anne glided across the air and sliced the king in the face.
Andrias roared before being shot with an arrow. He stumbled backwards. "GET! BACK!" He exclaimed, waving his sword around.
Marcy quickly fired more arrows, eventually firing one at Andrias' fist, forcing him to drop his sword. "ANNE! NOW!"
Anne smirked and hopped into the air again, slashing Andrias in the face one more time.
Andrias couldn't take any more pain and fell onto his throne, his crown falling off his head. And then, the Newt King fell unconscious.
Marcy smiled wide in joy. "WE...WE DID IT!!!"
Anne laughed in triumph and quickly hopped into the air and onto the ground, grabbing the box from its pedestal. "Now! Let's go home- MMPH!?"
Suddenly...something happened...Marcy had kissed her. But just as quick as it happened, she parted.
"S-S-Sorry!! It was in the h-heat of the moment!" Marcy cried, her face turning red.
Anne was frozen...she just stared at Marcy...before smiling. "Oh...Marcy..."
"A-Anne...?"
"What made you think I felt any different?"
Marcy gasped as she woke up, back in the void. "W...What...? Anne...? N-No, we defeated the King! It felt so real! It-"
Then? She suddenly heard clapping. Marcy turned and saw The Night floating down.
"That...was beautiful." The Night said, wiping tears from his eyes. "But...just as sad. You LOVE Anne Boonchuy, don't you?"
Marcy was silent, not wanting to answer.
"You do! Don't you!?" The Night began to howl with laughter. "YOU IDIOT! YOU TRAPPED HER! WHY WOULD SHE EVER FALL FOR YOU?"
