Note: I DO NOT own The Owl House or One Punch Man so don't report me. This is for entertainment purposes only. Also, I should let you know that this chapter will be based on episode 16 of The Owl House. So the events of episodes 8, 9, 10 & 11 are similar to what happens in canon, with only minor differences. In episode 12, Luz being Bang's student means she was patient, learning the ice spell and not resorting to using Amity's training wand. So the Slitherbeast never attacked them. Episode 13's similar to my Shazam & Venom What Ifs, Luz teaming up with the detention students and beating up the Greater Basilisk. Episode 14 is also similar to my other What Ifs, with Luz using her martial arts to beat up Tibbles after being returned to normal size. And of course episode 15 is also similar to canon with minor differences. With that out of the way, I hope you enjoy the chapter.

Luz was in the living room, practicing her plant glyphs. She was successful in creating a flower.

Luz: Yes! Check it out, King. My glyph skills are blossoming.

King: You think that's impressive? Check this out.

He says as they see him watch a video of two adorable cats.

Luz: I see we're getting enough Wi-Fi through the portal for cat videos.

King: Senseless violence. Yes, attack! Death is your god!

Luz: I regret teaching you about the internet.

King: Ha! What possible regrets could come from the internet? Oh, did you know that Earth is actually flat?

Luz: Like that for starters.

She says as Luz takes the phone from him. She then looks at her phone to see that she got a text from her mom asking how camp was for her.

Luz thought for a little bit before responding with a thumbs up emoji.

King: Ah, a severed hand. Perfect response.

Luz sighs before the door opens.

Hooty: Hoot, hoot, Luz! Time to fill up that darling little head of yours with . . .

He then spits books out his mouth.

Hooty: Knowledge.

Gus: Please hurry.

Willow: The more I look at him, the more uncomfortable I get.

Hooty: Hoot, hoot!

They said, making Luz chuckle before kissing King on the forehead.

Luz: Don't spend all day watching YouTube, okay?

King: I forge my own path!

He yells defiantly as Luz leaves.

Luz has just walked into Hexside along with Willow and Gus to see the school being decorated.

Luz: What's with all the decorations?

Willow: Oh, right, this is your first year.

Gus: This is for the upcoming Grom.

Luz: Grom? Like a party?

Willow: Mhm.

Luz: Huh, you know, in the human realm we have something similar called Prom. I was kicked out of my last school dance for dressing like an otter. Maybe this year I can be your Grom Queen.

Gus: . . .

Willow: Um . . . that's not something people usually sign up for.

Suddenly, someone bumped into Luz as some items fell to the floor.

Amity: Watch it, nitwit! Oh. Hi, Luz and co. Sorry about that.

Luz: No problem. Let me help you.

She says, helping Amity with her stuff.

Luz: Here's your note.

Amity snatched it out of the human's grasp.

Luz: Wow, you got some quick grabbers.

Amity: It's just . . . it's . . . private . . .

They then listen to the school speakers going off.

Principal Bump: Attention, Hexside Students, this is your principal speaking.

Gus: Oh man, this is it.

Willow: He's announcing who will be this year's Grom royalty.

They said as everyone was left in suspense.

Principal Bump: This year, I have the privilege to bestow our highest Grom honor to . . . Amity Blight.

Luz: Yeah! Amity! Get it, Queen!

Luz cheered, holding her hand up to high five Amity. She then realized no one was cheering and that Amity seemed upset. Amity then ran away as Luz looked on.

Luz: Amity?

Willow: We should give her space. Being Grom Queen is a tough job, even for Amity.

Some time later, Principal Bump had a bunch of students organizing the decorations for the gym as Luz enters.

Luz: Ah, our first school dance experience on the Boiling Isles. I can't wait to get overdressed, take awkward photos and push all the buttons.

She says before noticing a red button.

Luz: Well, hello.

She says before pressing the button, making the floor open up to reveal an arena down below as well as weapons appearing.

Luz: Medieval torture seems like a strange theme for Grom. But hey.

Amity: They're not for decoration.

The teen says, sitting on the bleachers.

Amity: This arena's where I'll make my debut as Grom Queen.

Luz: Right. So why don't you seem excited?

Amity: Because this isn't just some dance party.

She says as they see some sort of black goo moving around in the arena.

Amity: That's Grom. Short for Grometheus, the Fear Bringer. Every year, it tries to break out of it's prison, and a student has to defeat it before it invades the town. Ever the optimist, Bump holds a party and calls it tradition. The worst thing is that Grom can read minds and shapeshift into your worst fears. And mine . . . is very embarrassing.

Luz: If it worries you so much, why don't you tell Principal Bump you want out of this death match biz? Unless facing Bump is your greatest fear . . .

Amity chuckled.

Amity: No, but that's a good idea. Thanks, Luz.

She says before walking out of the gym.

Luz then makes it home, Eda turning out to be chaperoning Grom tomorrow as the Owl Lady tried out some fancy clothes.

Luz then goes for a walk as it started getting dark.

Luz then hears footsteps in the brush, she quietly tip toes her way towards it before charging in head on.

She quickly stopped herself from karate chopping Amity, but she failed to stop herself as they both fell into a mud puddle.

Luz: Oh my gosh, Amity! I'm so sorry!

She said as she went over to help her up.

Amity: And here I thought this day couldn't get any worse.

Luz: Did you talk to Bump? Was it as terrifying as you imagined?

Amity sighs.

Amity: I talked to Bump, but he said no. I'm Grom Queen, unless I can find a replacement. But who'd wanna switch with me?

Luz: . . . I would.

Amity: What?

Luz: Amity Blight, I'll do it. I'll take your place and face Grom in the arena! I'll be your fearless champion!

She says before a huge spider crawls onto her face. The teen panics as she rolls around with her face in the mud, killing the arachnid.

The next day, Luz was looking through a chest finding several outfits until Hooty appeared with his face right up against Luz's.

Hooty: Hey, Luz. You have a guest.

She shoos him away just before her bedroom door opens.

Luz: Hey, Amity.

Amity: If that bird tube ever talks to me again, I'm going to destroy it. You ready to train?

Luz: What do you think I should wear to Grom? This one says "Witch with a Dark Side", but this one says "I'm an Otter . . . with a Dark Side."

Amity: Luz, you need to take this seriously. If you can't defeat Grom, then everyone in the Isles will have to live out their worst nightmare.

Hooty: You wanna hear my worst nightmare?

He says with his face pressed up against Amity.

Amity then attacks Hooty with her nails and teeth as the owl tube, door, house thing starts hooting in pain. Luz tried holding her back and get her to stop.

Some time later, Hooty was bandaged up while Luz was outside with Amity and the twins.

Amity: Grom will transform into your darkest fears. So what are you two afraid of?

Luz: Hmm.

Edric: Wanna say our greatest fears on three? One . . . two . . . being alone forever.

Emira: Being stuck with you forever.

This made Edric a little sad.

Luz: In preparation, I've made a list.

She says, giving it to Amity. The twins took a look at it, chuckling as they create illusion spells of Luz's "fears." Such as jerks online who wanna debate, human souls trapped in cat bodies and milk, since she's lactose intolerant.

Amity: Not enough! The reason I can't face Grom, it goes deeper than things that just gross me out. What's your real fear, Luz?

Luz thought about it for a bit, but couldn't come up with anything.

So Amity and the twins just randomly try to guess her real fear for a while. Unfortunately, they ran out of time as they all had to get ready for Grom.

The sun has set and the moon has risen. It's Grom Night as everyone came dressed up and with their dates.

Amity was at the gym doors looking at her folded note.

Luz: Not sure if it's nerves or if I accidentally drank some milk, but something's making my stomach squirm.

She says, wearing a tight, long-sleeved black shirt, loose-fitting white martial arts pants, a purple sash around her waist and Tai Chi slippers.

Amity: You look nice. Strange, but nice. And thank you, Luz. Honestly, I'm kind of amazed with how fearless you are. You've done things I could never do.

Luz: Ha! Yeah, right! You going soft on me, Blight?

This made Amity laugh.

Amity: In your dreams.

They then look as they hear a microphone going off.

Gus: Now introducing our Grom Queen. You know her, you love her, you've at least heard about her . . . Luz, the human!

A spotlight came on, revealing Luz to the crowd as everyone cheers for her.

Luz: Wish me luck.

She said before heading inside the gym.

Amity: . . . Luck.

She says with sincerity and worry.

Gus then presses a button which opens the gym floors as well as raising two walls with a variety of weapons hanging from them.

But Luz didn't need weapons as she cracked her knuckles and stretched before heading down to the arena.

Grom appears, taking the forms of the things that gross her out as Luz gets into a fighting stance.

Luz then proceeds to fight Grom, making use of her martial arts training by beating the monster with swift kicks and punches.

Everyone was cheering for Luz as the fight went on. Grom then used one of his tendrils to touch Luz's forehead.

Grom then takes a new form, that being the door to Bang's dojo.

The door opens as Luz gasped, her eyes widened upon seeing Grom's form.

Grom: Hello, pipsqueak . . .

The monster says as Luz takes a step back.

Luz: G-Garou . . .

Grom: So you stayed with the old geezer and kept training, huh? Maybe I should've given you a beating like I did with everyone else last year.

He says with a sinister look, slowly walking towards the teen.

Luz took a step back as he got closer, her body shaking as the memories of that awful day resurfaced.

Amity was surprised to see fear in Luz's eyes.

Willow: Oh no.

Amity: What? Who is that?

Willow: Luz told us that, last year, a human named Garou went on a rampage, sending all of Luz's martial arts friends to the hospital.

Gus: Luz tried standing up to him, but he just pinned her to the floor before she could even try.

Willow: Luz was shaken up when it happened, she was the only student that went back while everyone else quit.

Amity then looks back to Luz, the teen afraid of "Garou" as she was backed up against a wall.

Grom: You got nowhere to go, pipsqueak. Now fight me.

He says, getting into a stance. Luz really didn't want to do this, but she had no other choice as she got into a stance.

Luz charged towards "Garou", going in for a punch only for Grom to sidestep her attack before kicking her in the gut.

Luz spat out saliva as she was sent flying, hitting the ground. She quickly got back up as Grom attacked, dodging his foot that would've crushed her skull.

Garou attacked once more, though Luz fought back this time, deflecting Grom's attacks and counter attacking when she could.

The fight continued for a couple minutes as Luz was taking more damage than Grom was as she was being pushed back.

Eda: Come on, Luz! Show him what you're made of!

Amity: You can do it, Luz!

They cheered and soon, everyone started chanting "Luz" over and over again.

This gave Luz the confidence she needed as she pushed her fear of Garou aside and started giving it her all.

Grom was surprised that Luz was starting to gain the upper hand. In fact, it would seem that Luz's attack speed and power were increasing by the minute.

Luz: You might look like Garou, but you don't have his skills! I haven't been training these last four years for nothing, you know!

She yelled as Grom was forced on the defensive, Luz now hitting the monster without fail.

Luz then starts screaming as she beats Grom to the ground, showing no signs of stopping as she turns Grom into a puddle of goo.

Luz stopped as she panted heavily, tired from the fight. The bits of what was left of Grom retreated as Luz's left brown iris was surrounded by a purple sclera.

King: And there you have it, folks. A glorious beat down for this year's Grom. Let's give a big hand to our Grom Queen, Luz Noceda!

He says before the school started cheering for Luz as the teen looks up to see everyone screaming and applauding.

They then run down into the arena, lifting her up and carrying her out.

Willow & Gus high five each other, laughing as they cheered for Luz. Eda clapped for her student's victory while Amity smiled and waved at her.

Principal Bump then tapped his microphone before speaking.

Principal Bump: And now, students, it's time for the official Grom Dance. We've already witnessed an amazing performance this evening, but we remain true to our traditions. Miss Noceda, as Grom Queen, you may choose your dance partner.

Luz smiled as her left sclera returned to it's normal white color. Luz then walks up a certain girl she knows.

Luz: May I have this dance, Amity?

Amity blushed.

Amity: Y-You want to dance with me?

Luz: Why not, right?

She says with a smile, Amity smiled as well, taking Luz's hand as they headed to the gym's center.

They and everyone else started dancing with their Grom dates as the music started playing.

Luz: Thanks for the cheering, Amity.

Amity: Please, you don't have to thank me.

She says, still blushing as they danced.

Amity: So, Luz, is it normal for your eye to turn purple?

Luz: Huh?

Amity: Your left eyeball, it turned purple when you were fighting Grom. Is that normal?

Luz: My eyeball turned purple? I didn't even notice. I'm sure it's nothing though.

Amity: Are you sure?

Luz: Just forget about it, Amity. Right now it's just you, me and the dance floor. So let's enjoy our Grom Night together.

This made Amity blush even more, though she did her best to suppress it.

Amity: Y-Yeah, let's have a good time.

She says as they continued dancing. Some time later, Luz posed for a picture in her fighting stance, she then brought in Amity, Willow & Gus for a group photo.

Soon enough, it was time for Luz to go as she said her goodbyes to Willow, Gus & Amity before leaving with Eda & King.

They then made it to the Owl House as Luz changed into her pajamas, texted her mom and fell asleep.
