Chapter 15

One of the upsides, or sometimes downsides, of being an idol was the force put on you to take care of your body.

And honestly, if it weren't for the pressures put on him, not just to keep up with the stamina of their strenuous performances but also to look good, he'd be lying on the couch munching on a bag of chips.

Now that he thinks about it, that was exactly what he did yesterday...

But here he was, forced into the gym to maintain his figure. And all he could think of was how Baekhyun got to stuff himself after they finished their recent performance.

He was jealous of his junior.

Luckily though, Chanyeol had volunteered to go with him so he wouldn't be alone, which did mean that he took pity on his older brother, not that he would ever admit it. He did still appreciate him for coming. Out of all the members, Chanyeol always had the best encouragement to give, along with the slight teasing and prodding.

Without him, he would've given up at the door itself.

With the younger's encouragement, he managed to make it through a good long workout. Just as he went over to get a bottle of water, his phone rang, with Eunji's ID on the screen.

He picked it up. "Hello?"

"There you are!" she said. He couldn't help but smile at the familiar excited tone of her voice.

"What's up?" he asked.

"Nothing much..." Her voice had taken on a slightly coy tone, making him raise an eyebrow. "Just wondering when and how you're going to make it up to me..."

"Huh?"

"Remember?" she urged. "At the photoshoot, you asked me to bear with you saying that you'd make it up to me later. Well, I'm holding you to that promise."

He honestly couldn't believe she remembered something like that.

Why wouldn't she, after what kind of a shoot it was? he thought. Kim Junmyeon, sometimes you're an absolute idiot.

He ransacked his brain for any ideas of what to do. He had actually forgotten about the deal he made with her, not that he'd tell her that, because he was sure she would actually kill him for that.

Nothing, he thought. I have absolutely nothing.

"When do you have a break?" he asked.

"I have a recording on Friday and then I'll be free in the evening," she said. "Will that work for you?"

He smiled. "It's perfect."

"Alright, see you then?"

"I'll text you the details."

She cut the call and he put his phone down, turning around to see Chanyeol sitting on the bench watching him.

"So...any idea what to do?" he asked.

Junmyeon shook his head. "Not a clue."

***

She just wrapped up her recording when she received a text from him. Well, maybe she had rushed to check it much more hurriedly than she should have.

Could you blame her?

It had been three days since she had last spoken to him. Three days since he had contacted her. When she had first attempted to contact him, he had shushed her up saying that it was a surprise.

She had been going out of her mind the last three days.

He really wasn't helping even now. When she opened his text, all it said was "I'll pick you up at 7." This was soon followed by another text: "dress casual."

Three days without contacting her and all he has to say is "dress casual"?

Nevertheless, she did follow his instructions (the ones he gave anyways) and quickly changed once she got back to her dorm. She did find some trouble even dressing casually as she had no idea what he was going to do, which ended up with her finally enlisting Chorong's help.

She wouldn't deny that she didn't enjoy the suspense.

At 7 pm exactly, she received a text asking her to come down. Grabbing her purse and waving bye to her members, she came down to see him opposite her building leaning against a car. He waved her over when he saw her and guided her to the passenger side, making to open the door.

"A car, huh?" she asked. "Are you trying to go back on our deal?"

He grinned. "Not exactly," he said. "My manager lent me his car so I'm taking it out for a spin."

"A spin?" she repeated. "You mean a crash, don't you?"

"We'll cross that bridge when we get to it."

"And what was with the "dress casually"?" She made air quotations with her fingers. "Is this how you make it up to someone? What? No fancy restaurant?"

He chuckled. "You're getting ahead of yourself," he told her. "Fancy restaurants are only for proposals."

"So then when you take me to a fancy restaurant, it'll only be when you're proposing?"

"Do you want to visit a fancy restaurant that bad?"

She nodded. "I really do." She really saw no point in denying it.

He smiled at her. "I'll take you then," he said. "But for now, get in the car."

He opened the door for her and closed it behind her. He started the car up and drove off to God knows where. In the midst of their small talk, she turned on the radio to find EXO's "Love Me Right" playing. The two ended up singing along to it, and then when "Mr. Chu" played next, she had to stop and take a breath as she felt like her stomach was going to fall out at the sight of Suho singing a girl group's song.

He played offended and for the rest of the ride kept brushing off her advances, acting like he was hurt she didn't appreciate his voice. She laughed as she told him that he had a good voice, but he wouldn't even look at her until she told him that he was the best vocalist in EXO.

They pulled up in front of a small restaurant. It wasn't large or extravagant, just a normal one, but the smell of food made her mouth water.

He opened the door once again for her and led her inside, where she was bombarded with the smells of Korean food and the sights of the few chefs making it on the spot. They waited in line as she took in the sights; the place had pale beige walls decorated with photos of food.

"What would you like?" the cashier asked.

"Tteokbokki," Suho answered without hesitation.

Before she could open her mouth, he paid for the order and brought her over to a table, pulling the chair out for her.

Even though he was sweet as always, she was starting to get a little pissed.

"Alright, what's this all about?" she asked.

He smiled. "Just trust me a bit longer, Eunji-shi," he said.

She folded her arms across her chest. "I don't know what you're planning, Suho-shi, but my idea of a date doesn't involve myself being in the dark."

"Just put up with me a little longer," he continued to say. "I swear, you will love me for this."

"I just don't like not knowing stuff."

"I know, but this particular occasion called for you to not know about it so it could be more meaningful."

She kept her arms crossed, glaring slightly at him. He sighed, leaning on the table. "I will seriously apologize, but for now, just enjoy the moment."

She kept glaring at him, her irritation clearly showing. He had on a pleading look, one that she found was hard to resist, but her hate of not knowing things clearly trumped over his cute face, so she managed to brave it for a while.

Eventually though, she exhaled. "You win," she said. "Don't think I'll forget this though. I hate being dragged around like a mannequin."

"You're not a mannequin," he told her.

At that moment, their food arrived; two plates of steaming traditional spicy rice cakes were placed down in front of them. He gestured for her to eat first, so she hesitantly scooped up a spoonful of the dish into her mouth.

Her eyes widened. "This-this is..." She quickly ate another spoonful, letting out a pleased sound. "This is amazing!"

Suho smirked, digging into his own bowl, keeping a knowing smile on her as he watched her shovel it down her throat.

"This is by far the best tteokbokki I've ever eaten," she said happily. "And I've never strayed from the one near our dorm."

"You once told me that you wanted to eat the best tteokbokki in Seoul," Suho spoke up. "You had tried many places, but had never even stumbled across one that gave you the same pleasure as the one you knew. You'd been hearing about a place that had the best in town, but you could never find time to go there." He gestured lightly to the place. "This restaurant has the best in town."

Her mouth slightly dropped before she put her head down, face burning from embarrassment. "I told you that ages ago," she said. "You remembered?"

He nodded. "Yeah," he simply said. "I wanted to make sure I made it up to you with the best."

She smiled widely, then looked down shyly as she recalled her behavior over the past hour. "All this time you were just trying to make a memory, and I was acting like a spoiled brat," she said. "I'm sorry, Suho-shi. I really am."

"Don't worry about that," he said. "But I am forgiven, aren't I?"

She nodded. "You're forgiven."

After their meal, he drove them over to the Han River.

Late at night, with hardly any people about, the dark waters shined like black diamonds under the half moon, reflecting the starry sky. The gentle waves complimented the slight breeze in the night scene, feeling refreshing against her warm skin.

The two walked down the river, calm and silent, just enjoying the presence of each other.

She then spoke up. "I'm curious," she said.

He hummed, urging her to continue. "Why Han River?" she asked. "It's not like I haven't been here before."

He nodded. "That's precisely the point," he explained. "The two of us share a lot of memories on this road." She nodded, as that was true. "Especially in our trainee days, we've been here a lot. At this place, we both have lots of memories with our members, friends and family. This place," he gestured around him, "is a reminder of our pasts. No matter where you come from, no matter the company or how big you get, you always come back to this place. In a way, it's our origin."

She nodded. "I've had so many moments here with my members," she said. "So many memories."

He smiled at her. "I brought you here for mainly one reason," he admitted. "I was hoping to make a precious memory with you here."

She thought her face would be stretched thin with all the smiling she was doing. "That's a good idea," she mumbled. She interlocked her arms around elbow, leaning her head against his shoulder. "I'll definitely never forget this day."

She feverishly closed her eyes. "Thank you, Suho-shi, for this amazing day."

"Junmyeon," he suddenly said. "My name is Junmyeon."

A/N: Remember in Chapter 11 when I said I wanted an acoustic version of "NoNoNo"? Well, Apink just released a ballad version of "NoNoNo" on their special album.

I feel like my prayers were answered without me even knowing.

It's the literal best thing in the whole world, I love this version.

You guys should listen to it...it's really good.

Think of it as the soundtrack to the last scene.

And on that note...

Long chapter once again!

I was originally going to split this into two chapters, but then I had plans for the next chapter so I just kept on writing this one.
