Chapter 1
Junmyeon pursed his lips as he looked over the script in his hand. After a few moments of scrutiny, he looked up at the expectant manager sitting in front of him. "Do I really have to do this?" he asked.
The manager seemed down. "You don't like it?" he asked.
"It's not that..." Junmyeon let out a long sigh. "The character is just..."
"Just what?"
"Don't you think he's too rough?"
"I thought you didn't want to play polished characters."
"I don't...but still..."
"Come on, Suho." Junmyeon looked up at the mention of his stage name. "You've wanted to be on this drama for quite a while now. Isn't it great that they took you on? So what if you have to play a bad boy character? It's only for a couple of episodes."
He still didn't looked convinced. His manager sighed. "Junmyeon-ah..." he said softly. "Rarely does one get an opportunity like this. You should do your best. Anyway, didn't EXO have a Bad Boy concept recently? You can just imagine that for your character."
The younger man hummed discontentedly. "I still feel like it isn't me..."
"It isn't supposed to be," his manager said. "They were originally going to give you a well-mannered and polished character, but then I negotiated with them to give you a more of a bad boy character."
"And I'm thankful," Junmyeon agreed. "But now that I think about it..."
"Your current image is of someone who is well-mannered and polite, the ideal guy essentially," his manager began to analyze. "This image follows you around everywhere, and it's going to be hard to break away from it since you want to get into acting as well. This role will show that you are versatile and can play any role. this is what directors want to see, versatility."
He pursed his lips slightly as he let the words sink in. Despite all his apprehensions, he couldn't deny that his manager's logic was flawless. He had wanted to get on this show desperately, and he had wanted to step away from his original image and try something new.
He sighed. "Alright, I'll do it."
His manager's face lit up in excitement. "Really? This is great, Junmyeon-ah!"
The man in question could only offer a weak smile as he felt his stomach twisting in excitement and dread. He needed to pull this off or else his acting career would be over.
***
He walked up to what he was used to seeing after years of debuting; people running around trying to make sure everything was perfect. he saw light men and cameramen continuously taking shots and adjusting the settings of their instruments, producers going from one end of the studio to another to make sure that everything was set, prop directors setting up the scenes and lugging around huge items nearly twice their sizes.
He smiled, it was business as usual.
A woman with a Bluetooth on her ear came up to him and his manager, hurriedly cutting the call she was on before straightening and putting on a smile to greet them. "Ah, Manager Hwang," she said, smiling. "You're here." She turned to Junmyeon. "It is a pleasure working with you, Suho."
He bowed in greeting. "The pleasure is all mine," he said. "Let's work hard."
She nodded and guided them through the set to the dressing rooms in the back, all the while explaining his character to him. He would keep giving nods of understanding as the knot in his stomach tightened even more. He was at the set of the drama he loved to watch, and was going to play a role completely opposite to what his true character was.
To be honest, it was all a little too surreal.
The casting director led him into a separate room where he found a stylist waiting for him. She quickly handed over control to the stylist, asking him to wear the clothing and get his hair and makeup done with the rest of the cast. He nodded and then she and Manager Hwang left the room.
He looked over the clothes the stylist prepared for him; ripped jeans, black rock band shirt and a black leather jacket. It was a bad boy style yet it fit him.
Quickly slipping into the clothes once the stylist momentarily left the room, he put on the accessories and boots before looking at himself in the mirror. It was odd, too odd. As expected, it didn't seem like him. The clothes did look good on him, but his soft face and features took away from the hardcore look. He looked like a pretender.
This would look so much better on Chanyeol or Jongin, he thought to himself as he scrutinized himself when the stylist re-entered the room.
"You're ready, right, Suho-shi?" he asked. "Kindly follow me to get your hair and makeup done."
Junmyeon had begun to have second thoughts about this entire thing. Even though it seemed too late for him to back out of it, he kept forming scenarios that could get him out of this. Maybe if he pretended to be sick he could pull out from the filming? No, they'd just move it to another day. But wouldn't they have stand-ins? For a cameo role? Heck no!
His stomach churned even more when he was sat down at the dressing table to look at his own reflection. Every cell in his body screamed that it wasn't right, it wasn't him! He quickly turned to Manager Hwang.
"Hyung! I'm not too sure about this!" he called.
Manager Hwang seemed startled. "What's with the backtracking, Suho?" he asked. "You're acting unprofessional."
Junmyeon looked back at his reflection. "I don't think I can do this. It doesn't seem natural."
Manager Hwang sighed. "You're not done yet, Suho," he reminded. "Just wait until you get your hair and makeup done."
He didn't seem convinced, but still let out a small reluctant hum of approval and sat back in the chair. Even if he was reluctant, he knew he needed to give the stylist a chance. He had experienced first hand countless times the power of simply pushing his bangs back. Listening to the drone of the hairdryer, he closed his eyes as he thought about his role.
The drone of the dryer was then replaced with the tingling sensations of brushes applying foundation to his face. Once it stopped and he felt a couple of pats on his shoulder to tell him that it was done, he opened his eyes to a completely new person.
He liked it.
The power of a good stylist never seemed to amaze him as he spent a couple of minutes looking at himself in the mirror. Whatever he had done, it worked. The person in the mirror could really be a bad boy.
Now it was just up to him to play his part well.

As he sat in his seat waiting for his scene to start, he heard the click-clack of heels and felt someone sit in the empty chair beside him.
He turned to see a very familiar face, all prepped and ready to film. He had seen it very frequently on TV, on this very drama, on Music Shows and in Music Videos.
Jung Eunji.
The very person he was going to play the love interest of.
It wasn't like he didn't know Eunji at all. They had exchanged words of greetings when they saw each other at award shows and music shows, and Apink had congratulated EXO every time they scored a win or an award. But he wasn't close to her either. Their brief interactions weren't any different from any other group's.
He hardly knew her, and now he was going to play her love interest. He had no idea how he was going to pull this one off.
She turned to him. "It's a different feeling watching it in action, isn't it?"
He nodded. "I've watched this drama countless times on TV, but even then, it's something different when it's happening right in front of me."
"Aren't you already an actor?" she asked.
"No, not quite. I've just had small cameos here and there. I'm not a full actor the way D.O. is," he explained.
She smiled widely, engaging him in small talk. Watching her, he couldn't help but chuckle slightly. Was it right to call her the female Taehyung?
She held her script up. "Should we go over our lines together?" she suggested.
He felt his mouth drying slightly. He gulped. "Um...sure...why not?"
***
"What is it?" she yelled out at the guy walking away from her, making him stop in his tracks. "What is it you want from me?"
He smirked, turning around to see her face, her frustrated, exasperated, angry face. Her eyes held a mixture of desperation, sadness and anger, all boiled together into one amazing mess.
He slowly walked towards her, taking his time stepping forward. As he slowly got closer and closer to her, the expression on her face changed, brown orbs widening and her face falling. She stepped back with his every step forward, until she felt her back hit the wall. Her chest began to constrict as panic slowly began to set; she was realizing that she had no where to run.
He walked up so that he was right in front of her, putting a hand out and leaning it against the wall, effectively trapping her. She was completely different than what he had seen two minutes ago. Now, she looked like a terrified little puppy.
He smiled. "You're asking what I want from you? I don't think you would want to know," he said in a low voice.
She turned her face away, tightly closing her eyes as she felt his breath on her ear. She then heard him chuckle, and suddenly, the intimidating energy over her was removed. She opened her eyes to see him walking away.
She threw her head back, sighing.

"And CUT!"
They straightened themselves up as the director came over to talk to the two of them. Judging from his smiling face, he was happy with their performance.
"You two are doing incredibly well," he praised them. "Keep up this good work and we'll be done in no time."
He turned to Junmyeon. "Especially you, Suho-shi. I must admit, I was a bit apprehensive when they cast you, but now I know they made a good choice."
Junmyeon bowed. "Thank you, sir."
"Just you two keep up the good chemistry, alright?" the director said. "We'll have a half an hour break before your next scene and then you'll be done for the day."
They nodded as he went away to handle some of the other procedures. Junmyeon turned to Eunji. "That was really good, Eunji-shi."
She smiled. "Thank you, you were incredible too."
He returned her appreciation and walked off the set to where the refreshments were. He called out to her. "Want to eat together?"
She came up. "Sure," she said.
