Chapter 1

Kali

"Yes Mom, I've already packed up my stuff, don't worry!", I shouted from my bedroom.

"Okay Hun." Let me know when you're ready, I'll take you to the camp, she said.

I picked up my overloaded camping bag and rushed downstairs to have breakfast.

Saying that I wasn't ecstatic about that stupid event was an understatement, but well, it seems like my silly best friend convinced my mother that being introvert could lead to no grandchildren at all. So, intransigent mommy didn't want to hear anything about me refusing to go out.

"Okay, fine. But promise me that if something happens out there, you'll call me!," She retorted enthusiastically.

What is that 'something' supposed to mean, huh?

"Oh and don't forget to protect yourself while..."

Oh no!

"MOM! Stop that!, I interrupted her knowingly," really embarrassed about what she was going to say.

"Don't be shy baby. You'll have to go through this someday and I would want you to be careful because diseases are easy to catch."

'Can someone please get me out of here?'

My mother, Victoria Bennett is, as you can see, not the shy type. She is frank and that's one of her various qualities. At forty-five, she is the co-manager and creator of a famous law firm, 'Bennett & Bilson', which she created with her best friend and ex-colleague, Joyce Bilson. She became one of the most reputed lawyer of New York since she approximately won every single cases she worked on. The funny thing is that she never- ever -accepts congratulations when she wins but instead shows her gratitude towards her colleagues for their hard work. It's something I really admire about her.

Well, she can be very annoying sometimes - the moment she mingles with my friends and starts acting weird, thinking she 'fits' in, is really, really embarrassing. But anyway, I love my mommy.

She understood that I wasn't ready for that topic and finally gave up. I finished eating my cereals and got out to put my stuffs in the car. We both got seated and well, "Youth Camp 15" here I come!

"Baby, have fun and don't forget to call me when get into your room, okay?" She said a bit emotional, "Come here and kiss your mama, I'll miss you babe," she continued while tears were rolling down her cheeks.

I hugged her and promised to keep in touch but it somehow felt ridiculous as the 'camping' would only last 2 days.

"I'll miss you too mom, take care. Love you, Bye!" I replied waving her goodbye.

At the same moment, I saw a familiar face coming towards me.

"Gosh I need to thank your mom! How come did she manage to get you out of your room? Did she brainwash you? Oh man, if you were brainwashed you won't even knew it. Kali?! Is it you? Do you know who I am?"

"Can you just shut up and help me with my bags?" I retorted, pissed off by the freaking heavy bag I brought, not by the usual 'nonsense-talk' mood of my best friend.

"Great! Cheerful as always, huh!" She said, relief obvious in her tone.

Catherine Bilson, as known as Cat, is one of my closest friends. Well, the only one actually. Who was I kidding?
She is weird, like a lot! And I think the name Cat suits her very well because she actually acts like a cat sometimes - both cute and vile. It's been ages since we know each other; I think we always did. As our moms were best friends since high school, we almost grew up together. Since Joyce's death, Cat's mother, Cat always hangs out at my place. I consider her more like a sister than a friend and mom likes her a lot. Maybe does Cat remind her of the good times spent with Joyce.

Cat helped me carrying my bag to the room number marked on my reservation receipt and, once arrived, we discovered to our great disappointment that we were not going to be roommates.

What the hell is going on?

"They allocated me room 203, and you?" Cat asked.

"202. They said that there will be two people sharing one room. How come we're not together? I really hope it's a mistake or whatsoever cause' I can't even imagine what that stupid stranger will go through with me as roommate," I exclaimed.

Both of us directly went to see someone in charge of the camp to see if he could fix our little problem.

"Well, the only thing you can do is try to convince one of your bunkmates to switch their place with you." Said one of the staff members.

"Okay, hmm thanks." Cat replied hesitantly.

We walked back to our rooms a bit frustrated.

"We could have thought about that earlier but, well, let's hope that those with whom we'll have to deal with are cool, "I stated.

As I got in, I saw a guy, quite tall, with chocolate brown hair and who had a really toned and muscled body. He was really cute though. He was standing nearby the window, a camera in his hands, overwhelmed by the amazing view of the snowy mountains we had access to. He was shooting every single fragment of  what this beautiful nature could offer us.

"Oh... Hey, I didn't heard you. I'm Kyle."

"H-Hey! So you'll sleep here, right?" I came straightforwardly to the point.

"Huh, nice to meet you too. Well I guess. Is there a problem or something?" He asked suspiciously.

"N-No, everything's fine but, hmm... can I ask you favor?"

"Yes sure."

"Well, I was wondering whether it would bother you to move in the room next door, so that my friend and I could share the same room."

"Oh, yes, I think it's gonna be fine, the guy next door is my elder brother, but let's get that done after the briefing which will start in exactly two minutes," he said while looking at his watch.

In fact, two minutes later we heard a voice speaking through the speakers hanged on various wooden poles outside and some members of the organization team came knocking at everyone's door signaling us to gather in the gymnasium.

I left my heavy bag in my room, and got out with Kyle. Once we were out, I spotted Cat smiling and giggling with some guy, but not some random creepy guy, that one was incredibly hot! Bloody helly hot! (Don't mind my weirdo vocabulary)

I went into Cat's direction and Kyle followed me. I didn't pay attention at first but I finally realised that Mister Handsome was actually Kyle's brother.

"Hey Kali, so here's my roomate, Kennett. And Kennett, here's my best friend Kali," she said enthusiastically.

"Hi, nice to meet you," he said as he shook my hand.

My heart nearly skipped a beat when I heard he had that freakin' sexy British accent, thing Kyle didn't have.

"Nice to meet you too. Well I guess there's no need to introduce you to my roommate," I said on a matter of fact tone, referring to Kyle.

"I guess Kyle already talked to you about me then," he replied with a big smile.

Cat was actually looking at the three of us with a puzzled expression, then I simply told her that our roomies were actually brothers.

"You can go ahead guys, we're coming," said Cat to the boys, while pulling me in her direction.

"Kali, I need to tell you something. So, I think I'm going to keep my room, you know, I feel like God sent me a sign, like He is leaving hints for me to follow the path of my destiny and-"

"Does your destiny has something to do with Kennett, by the way?" I cut her off.

"Okay, fine," she replied as if I caught her off guard, "I'll tell you the truth. I'm really crushing on him, like a lot! And since we share the same room it's like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to date a hot guy. Please don't be mad at me," She pleaded, with wide sad puppies eyes.

How could I resist that look?

"Let me think about it."

"Pleeaase!"

"You're letting me down."

"I ain't! And it's only for two short days! So please Kali, just do me that favor."

"Okay, fine," I retorted a little bit pissed off.
