Story Ten

Panic was going on. Titanic, little sister to Olympic, was on a voyage, her 6th one to be exact, and disaster struck. Some foolish person was hiding iceberg warnings, so Titanic never received them. Then, the inevitable happened. Her ship struck a huge iceberg, which grazed alongside the starboard side. Instantly, water flooded in.

"The ship will sink.. I'm so sorry, Titanic. I know you never got the warnings.." Thomas Andrews apologized. Titanic looked to her sister, Olympic, who looked back.

"Want me to take control?" She asked.

"They all listen to you." Titanic sniffled. Olympic nodded, and they headed up to the decks.

"Listen up! This ship is sinkin'! We're goin' to load the lifeboats and wait for Carpathia!" Olympic shouted.

"Will the lifeboats be sorted into classes?" A snobbish woman asked.

"Oh shut up! No! We're gonna try to save as many people as we can! Women and kids first! Load the boats to their full capacity of sixty to seventy people!" Olympic ordered.

"Yes, Ma'am!" Officers William Murdoch and Charles Lightoller saluted. All the crew did as Olympic commanded. Within forty minutes, three boats had been launched, and the bow had began its descent into the Atlantic.

"Help me!" A little boy shouted. He was trapped. Tangled in a mangle of ropes. Olympic saw him; he was over the side of the ship.

"Hang on, kid, I'm comin'." She stated, grabbing an abandoned rope. She carefully worked her way down the starboard side of the ship, and soon, she had the boy free. Once back on deck, the child found his mother, and Olympic got them into a lifeboat. That's when she noticed Titanic looked really pale.

"Olympic? Did... Am I at fault for this? It's my ship, and.." Titanic trailed off.

"No. You never got the warnings about icebergs, so you didn't know." Olympic responded.

Another two hours passed, and Titanic's ship was halfway into the ocean. Two funnels had collapsed, and now, all the lifeboats were gone. The stern was in the air when a sickening cracking was heard. Olympic watched in horror as Titanic's ship split clean into two halves. She had lost sight of Titanic ten minutes ago, or had it been longer? No matter, what mattered was that she help as many people as she could get out of the icy water.

Finally, after a few minutes, the stern sank. Olympic swam in the icy cold water. Titanic's ship had sunk after two hours and forty minutes. People were screaming in pain, and of fear. However.. Titanic didn't make it onto a lifeboat. "Titanic!" Olympic cried out.

'"Lympy..." A tired voice murmured. Feet away was Titanic, who was drenched, much like the others. Olympic swam to her, and in a few minutes, had Titanic on a door. Olympic spotted blood on her hands, and when she looked to Titanic, she saw her sister had a huge gash in her side. And she was losing blood quickly.

Olympic quickly removed her jacket, shawl, and whatever else she could, and tightly wrapped it onto her sister's wound. Instantly, blood seeped through, and eventually, Olympic found a bigger piece of debris big enough for her and Titanic. She held Titanic in her arms.

"I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..." Titanic sobbed.

"Darling, it's not your fault. You couldn't have known." Olympic soothed. She held her crying sister to her chest.

"I love you... so much, Lympy..." Titanic murmured.

"And I love you, Titanic." Olympic responded. She didn't like the tone Titanic used, it sounded like she was saying goodbye.

"Tell... Britannic... that I.. I love her..." Titanic murmured, her eyes closing.

"Ti, no honey! Stay awake! Stay awake for me, okay?" Olympic pleaded. It was to no avail, Titanic was dead. Died in her arms.

When Carpathia arrived, Britannic ran to Olympic, who held her and cried. She had to explain that Titanic wasn't coming home, that she was in heaven. Three years had gone by, and Olympic hadn't really recovered from the loss of Titanic when disaster struck. Lusitania's ship was struck by a German U-boat's torpedoes, and the ship sank in eighteen minutes, and the casualties included Lusitania herself.

After the loss of her only sister, Mauretania committed suicide by slitting her throat. Olympic just had to be the one to find Mauretania, causing more grief and guilt to her. Then maybe a year later, she lost Britannic to an underwater mine. Britannic went down with her ship, as she was helping a wounded woman.

Olympic pretty much isolated herself from everything then. She felt so guilty for the loss of Lusitania, Titanic, Mauretania, and Britannic, plus all their passengers that perished. She started drinking heavily, just to ease the voices in her head. Everytime she looked in the mirror, she saw one of the four girls, taunting her, belittling her, so forth.

She was left emotionless, and one day, she had enough. She had to bury her two sisters, her closest friend, and Lusitania. Why was she the one to suffer? That's what she often asked herself. She was numb. She felt nothing anymore. She didn't feel the stinging pain when she took a blade to her skin. She didn't feel sick when she forced herself to puke. She didn't feel anything when she started drinking. Hell, she didn't feel anything when drunk or high. Since no one knew she was suicidal, she wasn't taken to a mental asylum. To the public, she was in deep mourning.

Currently, Olympic had thrown a glass bottle to the wall, falling to her knees as she was close to breaking down. She didn't care about her pride, she never did. Sure, she was the pride of the White Star Line, and even to Cunard, but she wasn't egotistical. She wanted to yell, scream, anything. But she couldn't. She hasn't cried in years.

One night, she just had enough of the voices, of the guilt. She left a note to White Star and Cunard. The next morning, the found her. Her chest had been cut, her wrists were slit, her throat was slit, and she cut the words 'So sorry' into her leg. In her hands remained a photo of her, Titanic, Britannic, Lusitania, and Mauretania. All smiling happily.

In heaven, Olympic opened her eyes, and she was reunited with her family once more. After so long. She was even reunited with EJ Smith and Thomas Andrews. Her body was laid to rest beside her family's, and she ordered her ship be left alone to rust and deteriorate into the ocean, right beside Mauretania's ship.
