What if Zoe survived instead of Annabeth?

Ever wonder what would happen to Percy if it was Zoe who survived instead of Annabeth? Read on to find out. This takes place in The Titan's Curse if it is not really accurate, it's because I don't have a Titan's Curse book on hand. Also, the prophecy has changed a little. This is the second short story fanfiction that I am making, so sorry if it is bad.

Percy felt absolutely nothing. He knew that he should be feeling sadness or possibly anger at the Fates, but no, he felt as empty as a body without his soul. The main reason he joined the quest without being invited was for Annabeth, but now she was dead. He had known that Annabeth was probably going to die as the prophecy said, but he had hoped that it could have meant someone else.

The words of the prophecy floated through his mind.

Five shall go west to the goddess in chains,

One shall be lost in the land without rain,

The Bane of Olympus shows the trail,

Campers and Hunters combined prevail,

The Titan's Curse one must withstand,

And one shall perish by a captor's hand.

Percy buried his face in his hands. Annabeth's death had shocked him to the core. She was the only one who had died on the quest, instead of someone dying in the desert like they had thought, Bianca had only been stuck in the rubble and left behind for awhile. She had caught up just before the fight.

He heard someone walk up to him, but he didn't care. He was too miserable, too empty, to care about anything anymore. It was like when he thought his mother was dead, but a thousand times worse.

"Are thy thinking about Annabeth?"

Percy looked up in surprise, of all the people to talk to him, Zoe was the one to come over. He hadn't expected that.

Zoe was looking down at him. "Why are thee mourning over the girl?"

Percy looked at the ground. Zoe continued, "She died a heroine's death, do not mourn for her, for she hasth most definitely achieved Elysium. Thy should spread her tale instead of keeping it here alone."

With those words Zoe left Percy alone, pondering over her words. As he mulled over them Artemis's chariot arrived at Olympus. Percy got up and walked to the throne room, still pondering over Zoe's words of wisdom.

As the doors slammed shut behind them, Percy made up his mind.

"I declare this meeting opened!" Zeus's voice reverterbrated around the room.

"Artemis please describe what happened on Mt. Othrys."

Artemis slowly described each and every moment of the battle. When she came to Annabeth's Percy got up and left the room. He had just cleared his mind from the pain of her death, he didn't need to go through it again.

Eventually, Thalia came outside to bring him back in. Percy noticed the tear trails on Athena's face which had been hastily wiped away. He was sure that he looked even worse than Athena.

Zeus glared at him and then looked away. "We are here to discuss what to do with these demigods."

Poseidon blew up.

"What to do with them! What do you mean brother! Your daughter is among them and you say WHAT TO DO WITH THEM!"

Artemis, Apollo, and Hermes had to hold him back from attacking Zeus with his trident. Meanwhile, Zeus barely flinched at him.

Once Poseidon calmed down he nodded to the three holding him down to let him go. All of them immediately went back to their seats.

"As I was saying," Zeus carried on as if he had never been interrupted, "We have to discuss on what we are to do with these demigods."

"I suggest we kill all of them," Athena said.

Poseidon, Artemis, and Hades all jumped up and grabbed their weapons, ready to defend their children (or hunters in Artemis's case) at a moments notice.

"Dad it's fine, Athena is just not thinking straight in grief."

"But Percy, she wants all of you dead!"

"Dad, did you not hear me? Athena is trying to get through the fact of her daughter dying! Would you react better than this if I died?"

Poseidon immediately quieted down and thought about it. Then slowly, reluctantly he sat back down in the throne. Hades and Artemis thought about it too, Artemis thinking about Zoe instead of children of course.

Zeus just remained passive throughout the whole ordeal, not noticing the tears forming in the corner of Thalia's eyes.

"If we don't kill them then what do we go with them?!" Zeus asked.

"Uh... let us live duh."

Zeus's face became red in rage. "Sea Spawn, how dare you talk to the King of the Gods like that! For that you will die!"

He held up his Master Bolt and before anyone could do anything, he shot it at Percy. A blast of smoke appeared from where Percy was hit. Thalia, Bianca, and Zoe rolled out of the way just before impact.

Poseidon leaped from his chair and pointed is trident at Zeus's throat.

"Brother," he growled, eyes lighting up with an ethereal sea green glow, "This time you have gone too far."

Hestia, Athena, and Apollo all jumped up to restrain him once more. Then, groaning Percy got up. His shirt was charred and blackened along with his skin.

"Man, that sucked," Percy groaned out.

Everyone stared at Percy in shock. No mortal had ever survived Zeus's master bolt.  Then again, Percy had a knack for doing the seemingly impossible.

After getting over his shock, Zeus primed his bolt once more to fire the killing shot. This time Hera stopped him.

"It is clear that his boy is meant to survive, do not waste your power on doing something worthless."

Zeus grunted, then put away the bolt. Then he started a rapid-fire Ancient Greek conversation with the rest of the gods.

Percy caught the words, kill, live,  and death.

Eventually, the conversation ended and the gods started talking in English again.

"We have come to the decision that all the demigods will live."

All of them were sent back to Camp Half Blood, they landed in the dining pavilion. Everyone stopped eating and stared on in shock.

There, I kinda don't know where to go with this so I'm gonna end it here. I really can't imagine Percy without Annabeth.
