Third Person POV
Chimon quickly made his way to the hospital pharmacy and picked up his brother's prescription pain medication.
When he got home, his brother was moaning in pain.
He quickly fetched a glass of water from the kitchen and popped out a pill from its bubble pack and handed both to Pawin.
"Here, Phi, take this quickly," Chimon urged his older brother.
Pawin took the pill and lay back on his pillow, his face still grimacing with pain.
Chimon sat at the edge of his brother's bed and asked, "So how did the accident happen? Did you get the guilty party's name and contact number?"
"I will be honest," Pawin said. "It was my fault. I crossed a yellow light just less than a second before it turned red. I thought my motorbike would have enough speed to get me across the intersection safely. I was lucky that the driver screeched to a stop although not fast enough to avoid hitting my motorbike but at least the impact was less than if he had hit me head on. I would have been hurt pretty badly. I would not have hurt my knee if I had not fallen off my bike."
"You have not answered my second question," Chimon said.
"The answer to that is no," Pawin replied. "We did not exchange information. His front bumper was folded in and he did not think about asking me to shoulder the cost of repair or replacement. But he placed my bike in the trunk of his car and he brought me in his car to the hospital. He was trying to take responsibility for everything but the nurse told him he needed to bring someone older than him to sign the documents. Since my wound had been treated, I informed the nurse that I was old enough to discharge myself. I could not wait for that guy to come back with someone older than him."
"Why, how old was the driver?" asked Chimon.
"Eighteen, or almost eighteen, I think," Pawin replied.
"What will you do if he traced you and asked you to shoulder the repair or replacement of his bumper?" Chimon asked.
Pawin shrugged. "I can't think about that right now. I need for this pain to go away or I won't be able to sleep all night."
"Your pain medication will kick in soon," Chimon said. "Then it's going to make you feel drowsy."
"I hope so," Pawin said, settling back on his pillows.
"Have you had any dinner?" Chimon asked.
"No, I was too stressed out to think about dinner," Pawin replied. "But now that you mentioned it, I'm feeling hungry. How about you, have you had any dinner?"
"Yes, I was invited to a dinner get together by Perth," Chimon replied.
Chimon did not have to explain who Perth was. Pawin knew that Perth was Chimon's co-worker.
"What was the occasion?" Pawin asked.
"Oh nothing special," Chimon replied. "We had a new hire who will be working closely with Perth on a new project and it was Perth's way of getting to know him better. He decided to invite me as well because there could be a time when I might have to work closely with the new hire as well."
"Are there any leftovers in the fridge that you could quickly heat in the microwave?" Pawin asked.
"Let me check," Chimon said, standing from the bed and walking out of his brother's room.
Chimon had not yet reached the kitchen when his phone started to ring. It was Perth.
"Hey," Perth said. "How did you manage to pick up your brother's prescription pain pill?"
"I showed them my driver's license, that was all they asked from me," Chimon replied.
"Oh, so your wallet is with you," Perth said.
"Yeah, I keep it in my pocket all the time," said Chimon.
"Oh, I thought you kept it in your satchel," said Perth.
"But why your sudden interest in my satchel?" Chimon was puzzled.
"Because you left it at my place, grampa," Perth said. "But don't worry, I sent my brother Marc to deliver it to you."
"Oh, thanks, man!" Chimon said gratefully. "Does he know how to get here?"
"I made him place your address in his GPS," Perth replied. "He's on his way, He should be there in a few minutes."
"Thanks, man! Really! I owe you," Chimon said.
Chimon found a bowl of spaghetti with meatballs in the fridge and placed it in the microwave.
"You want me to bring the food to you, phi?" Chimon asked Pawin from the doorway of his room.
"No, I can walk to the dining room," Pawin replied. "The pain medication is starting to kick in. I'm feeling a bit better."
The dining room was next to the kitchen which was an area that a visitor could see right away because it was next to the front door. The living room was more hidden behind the kitchen and dining area.
Chimon sat beside Pawin at the dining table to keep him company while Pawin ate his spaghetti.
Chimon and Pawin were startled when their front door buzzed.
"Oh that must be Marc now," Chimon said, standing from the dining table. "I left my satchel at Perth's house and he asked his brother Marc to bring it over to me."
"Come in, Marc," Chimon said upon opening the front door. "Thanks for kindly bringing over my satchel to me."
"Not a problem," Marc said as he walked into the kitchen and dining area.
"You!" Pawin exclaimed.
"You!" Marc exclaimed at the exact same time.
