Chapter Thirty
Saturday
The sunlight flooded into the hotel room as I woke up. I stretched out in bed before I sat up. Today was one of the few days I had off and I was excited. Jeff and I had made plans last night to hang out today since Lita and Matt were gonna start their planning for the wedding. I smiled to myself before getting out of bed. Despite everything my mother had said in her letter to me, I couldn't be happier. Jeff made that easy, he knew the right things to say and when to say them. Jeff has proved over and over again that he is the small shred of happiness in this depressing world.
I took a quick shower before getting ready for the day. We were in San Jose, California for raw this coming Monday and Jeff wanted to go sight seeing. I dressed in ripped jean shorts and a Iron maiden muscle tank. I quickly threw on my sneakers before putting all my essentials into a cross body bag. After I was sure I had everything I grabbed my sunglasses and headed out of my hotel room. I walked to Jeff and Matt's room, which was only a few down from mine. Once I reached the door I knocked and waited for an answer. I heard a few loud crashes and Matt yell something before the door opened to reveal a disheveled looking Jeff.
"Good morning." I said giving him a kiss on the cheek and walking in the room. I looked at the room and laughed lightly at the sight. The crashing noise I heard appeared to have come from a lamp that was broken and laying on the floor. Matt was picking up the broken pieces when I walked in.
"What happened?" I asked looking at the sight in front of me.
"Well you see, when Spiderman over there heard you knock at the door he forgot about this thing called a floor. So he literally jumped from his bed to mine and in the process hit the lamp which caused it to fall to the floor and break." Matt said pointing to each place in the room where the scene took place.
"I honestly don't know what to say." I say as i look at the chaos displayed in front of me. I was trying my best to hide my laughter, however it was faultering and soon enough I was choking on my own laugh.
"I didn't forget about the floor, I simply chose to ignore it so I could see if my powers had come in yet." Jeff said crossing his arms over his chest like a two year old.
"You are just too cute." I told him with a slight laugh before giving him a kiss on his pouty lips. He smiled at me before grabbing my hand and heading towards the door.
"Be back later Matt!" Jeff yelled going towards the door.
"Umm Jeff?" I said in a questioning tone.
"Yes, love?" He answered back making me flush a bright crimson color.
"Don't you think you should put on some shoes and I don't know maybe some pants." I told him while laughing at the sight of Jeff trying to enter the hall in just his boxers and sleeveless shirt. He looked down at what he was wearing and realized what he was missing.
"Oh, yeah. That might help." He said before turning around and grabbing the first pair of pants he saw in his suitcase. He quickly pulled them on and proceeded to put on a pair of sneakers. As he was trying to slip on the second shoe he tipped slightly and fell into the wall. I just shook my head as he pulled himself up and came towards me. Jeff grabbed my hand and proceeded to lead me into the hall. We quickly reached the elevator. Jeff hit the button before he looked at me and smiled.
"Did I tell you that you look beautiful today?" Jeff asked as the doors opened and we got in.
"No, but thank you. You look handsome as always." I told him with the ghost of a smile on my face. Jeff reached down and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek before we reached the lobby. We left the hotel and started walking down the street hand in hand.
"So, what would you like to do today?" Jeff asked as we walked without a destination in mind.
"Why don't you pick." I told him just enjoying the nice weather.
"How about the zoo?" He asked after a few moments of thinking.
"That sounds amazing." I told him with a smile. We started on the walk to the zoo which took us about 20 minutes. We quickly paid the admission and went through the gates to get into the park. I had grabbed a map trying to figure out which direction to go in first.
"Okay so if we go left we'll find the big cats and if we go right we'll find the reptiles." I told Jeff when I looked up from the map I saw Jeff heading towards the Lion exhibit. I quickly folded the map up and followed after him. In the lion exhibit there was a huge lion and a lioness pacing around the enclosure.
"Look at how beautiful they are." Jeff said in complete awe of the animals infront of us.
"Do you think they would notice if I started stealing the animals." I said as I tried to get the Lion to come closer to the glass. Jeff let out a laugh before answering me.
"I mean I'm sure they would notice if one of the lions went missing." He said as he lead me out of the lion enclosure. I smiled at him before I took off towards my favorite animal in any zoo. I let a huge smile stretch across my face as one of the penguins swam right in front of me. I didn't notice Jeff was next to me before he grabbed my hand. I looked at him and smiled.
"I could take him home with me." I said before turning my attention back to the adorable penguins in the tank.
"Once again, I think they would notice if you just tried to walk out of here with any animal." Jeff said, I could see him shaking his head in the reflection of the glass.
"I know, I just really love animals, Penguins especially." I said with a sigh as we left the penguins and continued on to the rest of the zoo.
"Did you have any animals while you were growing up?" Jeff asked as we headed towards the wolves.
"Yeah, sort of. My grandparents on my dad's side did. They had dogs, cats, horses, goats, chickens, and a duck named quakers. I actually use to do horse shows in the summer with one of the mares they had on the farm. I always wished I grew up there instead of my mom's house." I told him as we walked.
"Wait, you had a duck named quackers?" He asked with a grin on his face.
"Yes, There was originally three ducks: Cheese, Quackers, And Wine. Cheese and Wine passed away." I told him. Jeff started laughing at the names. I too started laughing with him.
"Those are the best names I think I've ever heard." He said once he caught his breath.
"If you think those are good, you should hear what I named the Chickens." I told him as we reached the wolves.
--------
We've been at the zoo about two hours were at the last exhibit, The reptiles. There is only one type of animal I can't stand and it happened to be any type of reptile. Jeff on the other hand looked like a little kid at christmas when he saw the alligator exhibit. He ran up to the glass as I stood a ways back.
"Come here, you gotta see this, It's a white alligator!" Jeff shouted excitedly.
"No thanks, I'm good back here." I told him.
"Wait are you scared of alligators?" He asked with a smile.
"and turtles and snakes, Basically any reptile." I told him taking another step back.
"Then you might not wanna look behind you." He told me, against my better judgement I looked behind me and saw the biggest turtles ever. I let out a little shriek before backing up into Jeff. The turtles looked big enough to ride. Jeff laughed and quickly walked me away from the prehistoric creatures. We quickly reached the gift shop and looked around for a few minutes. Before leaving the Zoo.
"Sorry for freaking out, I know you were looking forward to the reptiles." I told him as we sat on a bench outside of the zoo.
"It's fine, It was pretty funny seeing how afraid of the turtles you were." He said with a light laugh.
"It's not my fault they were looking at me like I was lunch." I told me shuddering at the though of their beady little eyes watching my every move.
"Turtles don't eat people, only plants, vegetables, fruits, and stuff like that." Jeff said with a smile on his face.
"That's not what they're eyes were saying." I said laughing at how ridiculous i sounded. Jeff laughed too. After a minute we calmed down. Jeff pulled a little paper bag out from next to him. I looked at him with a questionable look on my face.
"So, I got this for you while you were in the bathroom, I hope you like it." He said putting the bag in my hand. I opened it and my eyes lit up at the sight of the sno globe in my hands. "I know its not the same as taking a real penguin home, but now you'll always have one with you." He told me as I looked at the beautiful penguin snow globe in my hand. It had four little penguins standing on a rock with light blue glitter inside to act as the snow.
"I love it" I said softly as i held it to my chest. I gave Jeff a kiss in the lips "Thank you" I said softly before I pressed another kiss to his lips.
A perfect end to a perfect date.
