The next day, when Patton woke up, he exited his room, and felt something soft on the usually cold tiled floor.
'Was that a sweater?' He thought, rubbing his tired eyes, before reaching down to pick it up. It was neatly folded, so he decided to let chaos ensue, and unfolded it. The sweater was a light pastel/rainbow striped hand-knitted sweater.
It had the dark rainbow letters, LGBTQ stitched on each stripe, and big, dark lettering in the middle, which spelled, 'I'm sorry" and there was a note folded neatly next to the sweater
As he read it, he smiled brightly.
'Patton, i'm sorry for how I acted towards you in the past few weeks. It was wrong of me. And no, your father isn't forcing me to write this.
I stayed up last night, staring at the ceiling, and thinking about you. I realized how hard this must be for you, and thought back to long conversations, well, arguments, really, that I had with your father over the past few weeks.
Did I suddenly have a change of heart out of the blue? No. I feel the same way.
However, I did realize, that you're my child, no matter what happens you need support. So, while I may not exactly understand why you chose to do this to yourself, I will certainly do my best to try and accept you.
Maybe over time i'll become more accepting, but for now, I just want you to know, i'm going to start trying my best.
-Mom'
Patton was beaming. His mother didn't hate him! She was just..confused? Confused.
And he absolutely loved the sweater!
It looked really cute! He put it in his drawer in his bedroom. He didn't want to wear it to breakfast and risk ruining it. He'd hug his mom later at breakfast.

"WHOOO!!!" Remy screamed, "I got my roommate and room number! Apparently i'll be staying in the dorms that are basically more like mini-apartments than dorms. They're way fancier-anyways-i'm going to be paired up with Tyler! Emile's going to be so mad I didn't get paired with him."
"What are the odds you get paired up with one of your friends?" Alessandra asked.
"I dunno, but I really like the hall we're on. It's where all the wanna be frat/party boys are, so it's bound to get wild." Remy smirked.
"Good. What's the point of going to college if you don't go to parties and get completely wasted? Have fun, sweetie. Oh, but don't die. Or drive drunk. I know that you've been going to parties since your freshman year of high school, but you never know!" Alessandra exclaimed.
"I know mom!" Remy groaned, rolling his eyes playfully, "I'm so excited! I had a dorm last year, it was so fun, and now i'm getting one again. We're moving in over spring break, so i'd better start packing it up!" He ran off into his room to grab some boxes and pack them up.
Virgil was pretty sad to see his brother go. But he supposed it was fine. After all, the very next year Virgil would be going off to college too.

A couple days later, Remy was all packed and ready to go. Virgil helped him pack all of his bags and boxes into the trunk of the car, and wave him off with their mother.
Before Remy hopped into the car, Virgil threw his arms around Remy and hugged him, "you think you can escape me without a hug?" He asked, whispering.
Remy smiled brightly, hugging back, chuckling, "bye Virgil.."
And Remy drove off, and immediately called Tyler.
"Holy shit dude, Virgil just talked for like, the first time in three months!!"
