LA In New York
Legend walked into his loft and the door shut. He sighed. He tossed his bag to the side. For the first time in forever, the first time ever...he wasn't happy to be home alone. He felt hollow.
He said goodbye to Dom and Dave when he left. Guy was there to help load his bags but no sign of Moses. Legend would miss him and he didn't want to say goodbye to him. He wasn't sure he could.
He sat and stared into nothing. He turned on the TV and listened to whatever sports team was playing without any real interest in it. He just sat. He knew this was not as satisfying as it was pre-Moses.
Legend walked to his piano. Not a baby grand, he would miss her but it was nice. He played his music and played the one that Moses loved. It made him laugh.
Legend let the tears stream down his face as he played it. He could hear Moses's laugh. He would miss that so much. He loved his laugh, his eyes when he smiled. They would light up and soften to a light blue. His lips were soft and warm. Kissing him was...
"Stop!" Legend wiped his tear-soaked face and slammed down on the keys making an angry sound. He hated thinking about Moses.
He left the piano and found his bed more interesting. He just curled up and waited for sleep to take him. He cried himself to sleep as he hugged that stupid purple alien. He had never done that before. He just slept.
Legend ignored his phone for two days as he just laid in bed. He didn't eat or anything. Nothing. He ignored the knock on his door and he heard it open.
"Legend, get off the woman you're on and get your hot ass down here!" His boss was there.
Legend moaned. Fuck! He rolled from bed and knew he looked like shit. He crawled downstairs. "What?"
"I have been calling you for..." Amy froze. Legend was usually well dressed and groomed. He looked awful. Like... he just lost someone. "Legend? Are you okay? Forget it. I see you're not! Are you sick?"
Legend shook his head. Maybe he was sick. "No." He wiped his face. "I just needed a couple of days. What's the emergency?"
Amy watched him. "If I didn't know you better, I would say you just had your heart broken!" She smiled. "But I know that can't happen to you!"
Legend chuckled without putting effort into it. He walked to the kitchen and got a bottle of water. Even though he laid in bed for two days, he had no energy. Walking to the fridge was draining. "What's the emergency?"
"Legend? What happened?" Amy sat.
Legend took a sip and recapped the bottle. "Nothing." He flopped on a couch. "Where am I going?" He sounded grouchy.
"Uh, You sure?" Amy was rethinking sending him. "Maybe you need a vacation?"
"Nah. I need to work. Where?" Legend collected himself and stood up. He was ready to lay back down and hide under his blanket. "I need to get the fuck out of this house!"
"First shower! When was the last time you showered or shaved?" She stared at him. He was never this bad. "I wasn't this bad when I got my divorce!"
Legend sighed. "Don't want to talk about it. Where?"
"Canada. Scott Mars." Amy was almost bouncing. She knew Legend was a huge fan.
"Can you get someone else to do it?" Legend looked at his feet.
"What is going on?" Amy glared. "Seriously. You look like someone just broke your heart!"
Legend just stared. No way he was saying anything. I'm gay and Moses Hardy just took my heart from my body. My heart is in LA! He wasn't saying any of that! "No, just tired." He was so depressed.
"Legend. I have known you for a long time, You don't get depressed. What girl did this to you?" Amy was talking softer. "As a friend, Talk to me?"
Legend shook his head. He couldn't talk. He just stood there. He cleared his throat. "I can't do that interview."
"Legend. Is this about LA? What happened?" Amy sighed. She knew something had happened in LA because he left early with no interview or notes and she hadn't heard from him at all. He was always in her office within the first five hours of getting home. This was different.
Legend looked down but a teardrop fell to the floor. Amy saw it and almost gasped. Legend could cry? She never figured that would happen.
"Take some time off, Sweetheart. Okay? I will reschedule the interview. Okay? It's yours when you are ready." She quietly walked out. Legend just went back upstairs.
It took a good two weeks before Legend could bring himself to show up at the office. He trimmed his beard, most importantly, showered, changed into clean clothes and brushed his hair. He looked alive but knew his heart wasn't beating. He had to get back to work.
He waited in Amy's waiting room and tolerated the secretary hitting on him. He used to love the attention. But this time he hated it and felt nothing. He was polite but he didn't flirt like before. Amy's door opened.
"Legend. Come in." Amy smiled.
"Okay. Where am I going?" Legend sighed. This wasn't fun like it was. His life was gray. Fucking man! He was starting to hate Moses Hardy!
Amy sighed. "I see that you look alive. How do you feel?"
Legend sat. "Fine." His voice was flat. "You?"
Amy sighed. "What happened in LA?"
Legend laughed. "Nothing. Not a fucking thing! Where am I going?"
"Okay? Spain. I have all of your information. You leave in five hours. Good?" Amy sighed. She was worried about him. This wasn't the normal Legend. Something had happened to him... but he wasn't talking so she would give him some time.
Legend nodded with no smile. "Okay. Thanks." He walked to the door. "If I told you I was gay, what would you say?"
Amy stared and started laughing. "Sure. Okay!" She was playing along. "I wouldn't care, Legend. Go. We can talk when you get back." She shooed him out. He wasn't gay? What was that about?
Legend spent a week in Spain and got his interview with some actor/musician. Legend wasn't very interested but he got it.
He walked around and did some soul searching while he was there. The hot desert air was nice. He missed Moses terribly and didn't know why. They didn't know much about each other.
