High School

A/N: There is a time skip! Now, if you thought the first eleven chapters were full of drama, get ready for the next group of chapters!

*does an evil laugh*

Now, I think I will continue this story until Mitch gets married.:) And...there might be a sequel.;) Anyways, enjoy this chapter!!!

(WARNING: bullying)

Fourteen year old Mitch looked at his calendar. Two weeks until summer was over. Scott was ready to go to college soon and Kirstin just finished senior photos. The freshman felt like it was just yesterday when he left the hospital after Carson's abuse. He shivered as he jumped off the chair he was siting in. He still saw Tori and learned that Genevieve was doing well. She had to move back to her old state because of some family problems and decided to stay there. She still talked to Mitch even though it's not often. She was happy to learn that Mitch was improving and taking vocal lessons; however, that was the last thing he was thinking about.

Mitch walked up to his dads' room, taking a deep breath. He was about to reveal something he didn't know that he will ever do. He knocked in the door lightly, hoping that someone will answer.

"Come in," Kevin's voice called out. Mitch then opened the door, smiling at his parents. "Hey, Mitch. What's up?"

"I've g-got-t so-me-et-thi-ing to tell you g-guy-ys," Mitch responded, sitting down on there bed. They nodded as they gave him their full attention. "Ummm, th-his is ve-ery-y ha-rd-d for me to sa-ay-y."

"Is everything okay?" Avi asked tenderly, running his hand up and down Mitch's arm. He stopped at a scar that was given to Mitch when he was five. "Did you have another panic attack?"

Mitch shook his head as he played with his fingers. After a few moments, he looked up at his parents, announcing what he practiced all summer:

"I wa-ant-t to go to sc-hoo-ol."

~~~
The first day of school came fast and Mitch held his books tightly. He looked at Kirstin, who looked ready for school. He took a deep breath when the car stopped in front of an average-sized high school. Students from ages fourteen to eighteen, some thirteen and nineteen, roamed around the campus. Friends that haven't seen each other since the last day of school reunited and talked endlessly about what they did over the summer.
"Are you ready, Mitch?" Avi asked worriedly, looking at his youngest son. Mitch nodded hesitantly, looking around the campus. "Kirst, make sure that you show him his classes. He's in four special resource classes so that will possibly be in the same room, journalism, and choir. He doesn't have to take P.E. Please make sure that he doesn't get hurt."
"Of course," the senior replied, getting out of the car. She smiled at Mitch, holding out her hand. "Ready for your first real day of school?"
Mitch nodded as he hugged Avi for the last time until school ended for the day. He then let go, waving goodbye to his dad. Avi waved back as he drove off carefully. Mitch then grabbed Kirstin's hand, allowing her to be his tour guide.
~~~

"You will have all your special resource classes in Room 19 which is by the library and those are your first classes. The choir room is in Room 25, which is upstairs. Journalism is in Room 26, but we will meet there after you have choir and I have dance. Is everything clear?"

Mitch nodded as he looked around his surroundings. Kirstin managed to show him around the entire school in under fifteen minutes, which is impressive because Kirstin gets lost easily. A loud continuous noise then went off, making Mitch jump and go into his sister's arm.

"Wh-hat-t was th-at-t?" Mitch asked, looking around as students walked into random rooms. Kirstin then laughed and let go of her brother's grip. "Kirst, I'm se-er-ser- how-ev-er-r you say th-at-t word."

"That's the bell," Kirstin replied as she walked off to her first class. She then waved to her brother. "You need to go to your resource class. I love you."

Mitch waved to her as he walked to Room 19, wondering why he was put into a resource class. He heard it was because of his parents worrying about having to present in front of people that would judge him. They put him into a class that wouldn't do that. Mitch sighed to himself as he went inside his first class, praying to himself that everything will go okay.

~~~
Lunch time came quickly, making Mitch thankful. Don't get him, he likes his resource classes because he wasn't forced to speak, but he did cry a bit when he had to introduce himself. The teacher was went by Mr. Mallark (a/n: yes, this is a Hunger Games reference. Come at me.). The teacher was really sweet and had a strange obsession with bread. His wife is an archery teacher. They've been married for a while and had two children. He is definitely Mitch's favorite teacher so far.
Mitch was about to go to the lunch room when he was stopped by a boy. He turned around quickly, shyly waving.
"Are you Kirstin's brother?" He asked and Mitch nodded in response. "The name's Matthew Lush. I'm the school president. I'm going to show you how we welcome new students. Follow me."
Mitch nodded as Matthew made him follow him. The innocent freshman tilted his head as he was lead to a bathroom. Matthew opened the door and lead the younger student in the biggest stall.
"Do you know what a swirly is?" Matthew asked in a tone Mitch couldn't place. The sophomore tried his best not to smirk. "Awesome. Go on your knees."
Mitch then raised an eyebrow but obeyed Matthew's order. Matthew tried his best not to laugh.
"Awesome," Matthew repeated, letting his giggles escape. The school president then flushed the toilet, laughing hysterically. "Hold your breath!"
Mitch was about to ask why but was instantly dunked into toilet water. He felt the flush of the toilet tangling and drenching his hair. He felt Matthew's rough hand refuse to let go. The flush then ended and Mitch was finally released, letting his hair make his back wet. He felt another moisture run down his face, but it wasn't from the water.
"Welcome to high school," Matthew finalized, laughing obnoxiously. He then went next to Mitch's ear, making the freshman flinch. "I'm going to make high school the worst years of your life. Good luck, Olusola."
Matthew then walked away, leaving Mitch alone. The freshman then released his tears and put his head in his knees. This is not how Scott and Kirstin described high school. They never got a swirly so why did it happen to him? Mitch cried and stayed in the stall until lunch ended. Mitch stood up, his hair wet and stomach empty. He went to a hand dryer to try his best to get his hair dry and when it was semi-dry, he went to a mirror to look more 'presentable'.
Hopefully no one will notice how emotionally empty he looked.
