Cancer

A/N: You are all going to hate me at the end of this chapter, lol. The chapter's  ending is based on a true story too.

Alex brought Mitch into the living room, his shirt getting wet by the tears of pain and anguish that his brother-in-law is releasing. They sat down and listened to the rain falling quietly on the windows. Alex ran his fingers through the dark hair, wanting Mitch to experience happiness. The man went through so much in his young life.

When he was a baby, he lost his parents. When he was five, he was abused terribly. When he turned six and a month or so passed, he got his stutter. When he was nine, he got diagnosed with anxiety. When he was eleven, his parents almost got divorced. When he was fourteen to eighteen, he got bullied to the point where he didn't even want to go school anymore. When he was eighteen, he got kidnapped and was on the verge of death. When he turned twenty two, Avi was told that he wasn't going to live any longer. After ten years of not being sad, Avi passed away and Kevin was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Now Travis is gone and Mitch pretty much has nothing know besides his family.

It's not just fair. Alex watched the younger man grow from a fourth grader who had no cares in the world to a man who has had enough of being upset. He wakes up every morning, afraid of losing another person he loves. He's afraid of McKenna getting abused and suffering the same tribulations that he did. His anxiety and PTSD made everything worse and harder to live with.

"A-al-lex?" Mitch asked, crying softly. He could feel Alex nod slowly, hugging him tighter. "I-I'm so t-ti-ire-ed."

"Then sleep," Alex commented quietly, feeling his eyes water. No one deserves to go through this. "Stay here as long as you want. I'm so sorry, Mitchy."

Mitch shrugged as he let go of Alex's embrace. Alex bit his lip as he saw Sara peeking from the corner. Her warm brown held empathy and sadness. He then sighed and went up to her, hugging her close. She sighed as she hugged back, not taking her eyes of Mitch.

"Is Uncle Mitchy okay?" She asked softly, frowning when Alex shook his head. She then looked into her father's hazel eyes, not liking the way the warm hazel eyes are a sad brown color. "You don't need to tell me. I just want him to be happy again."

"All of us do, Sara. All of us do."

~~~
Mitch woke up the next day in the guest room, noticing the smiling Scott come into his room. The older brother sat down and coughed for a couple of seconds, turning back go Mitch when he was done.
"Are you okay?" Scott asked sadly, frowning Mitch shook his head no. "Your therapy session got canceled today. She decided that you needed some time to yourself. Well, I need to go somewhere. Alex will be here. I love you, Mitchy."
Mitch smiled, despite all the pain that is building in his chest. Have you ever had that weird cramp in your foot that lingered for a long time afterwards? It happens for about five minutes, but the pain doesn't go away until a long time had passed. That's how Mitch feels. He is losing that cramping feeling in his heart is disappearing. The sad part though?
The pain will never go away.
~~~

Alex smiled the brunette, who seemed a little bit better than yesterday. The happiness seemed to dim and left behind a dark and vast appearance. Mitch smiled back, despite the permanent pain growing in his heart.

"Mitch?" Alex asked, getting the younger man' attention. Alex then sighed, hoping for the best. "I love you so much. Please don't feel like you are a burden or anything, okay? Travis is missing out. McKenna loves you a lot. I am certain that everything will okay. It might not look like that now, but it will."

Mitch was about to answer back when a hand rubbed his back, but it wasn't Alex.

He's got a point. Everything will be okay. It may not seem like it right now, but it will be.

Mitch wanted that to be true.

It will, Mitchy. I would never lie to you.

Mitch then felt Avi's presence go away, leaving him and Alex. He then nodded hesitantly, smiling softly.

"I w-wi-ill. T-th-han-nk you, A-al-lex."

"Anytime, Mitchy. You're welcome."

~~~
Kirstin walked into her childhood home, noticing how Kevin was not in the living room. She frowned and walked to the kitchen, sighing in relief when she saw Tris cooking something for her dad. Kevin smiled at her softly and stood up to hug her. Kirstin smiled and accepted the hug, noticing how busy Tris seemed.
"Your lunch is rea-oh, Kirstin," Tris began, staring at the blond. She then set the plate of food down, smiling when Kevin walked to the table. "Eat slowly, okay Kevin?"
Kevin nodded and went to put his hand on the side of the table Avi used to sit on. He sighed sadly and began to eat quietly, wanting his hand to be held once more. Kirstin then left the kitchen, not wanting to cry today.
"Kirst?" Tris asked softly, going closer to the blond. Kirstin nodded, allowing the caretaker to speak more. "I like you, a lot. I'm interested in you."
"I...I," Kirstin began, not knowing what to say. She bit her lip, trying to figure out what she waned to say. "I'm married. I have a daughter."
Tris sighed sadly as she stared at the lips. Kirstin couldn't help but look at the light brown eyes the caretaker owns. The both of them closed their eyes, leaning close to each other. Tris then closed the gap, kissing Kirstin softly.
And Kirstin kissed back.
~~~

"Scott Kirk?"

Scott stood up, beginning to cough. This cough lasted for about a couple minutes and made his eyes water. When he was done, he wiped his eyes and cleared his throat in hopes to not cough any longer. After the usual tests of heart pressure, temperature, height, and weight, he was sent into a room. A doctor then walked in, a somber expression on her face.

"I got your results from the biopsy," she began, looking at the files. Scott nodded, hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. "It's malignant."

"Wait, what does that mean?" Scott asked, not understanding what his doctor is saying. He then shook his head, not wanting it to be true. "Does that mean that I...?"

"I'm sorry. You have cancer. I will schedule the surgery in hopes to make it disappear. Until then, I'm so sorry, Mr. Kirk."

A/N: I'm sorry! Yes, I had cancer. Yes, Scott is going to have cancer through out this book. No, he is not going to die. What Scott will go through is what I went through. Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed the chapter and that you remember that I will all of you forever and forever.:)
