II
Nyle POV
So far it was a peaceful morning and calm. I got up a little earlier than I wanted to, thanks to morning sickness. I had my bayard with me, trying to figure out the best way to use it when I need it. It would just sort of appear whenever I opened my hand and thought of it. It's kinda cool, I'm loving this.
Pidge and Shiro were both telling me yesterday that I need to find a time hopefully today to tell everyone about the baby. I know they're right but, I'm just scared. How am I supposed to raise a baby in all this mess? He or she could be seriously injured or maybe dead if I'm not careful.
A few moments later an alarm goes off and I hear Allura's voice. "Everybody up! Zarkon's attacking! The Castle's about to be destroyed! Go, go, go! We need Voltron now!"
My eyes widen and I quickly get up, running to the bridge before coming to a screeching halt seeing what was going at the bridge. "What the-"
"Oh, no! Allura is dead! Aaaah! it's horrible! Her head fell off! Wait! What? Her severed head is trying to speak to me! What is it, Allura's head? What are your final words?" Coran was just, screaming like a complete banshee. By this time all of us except Lance are on the bridge.
"Coran..."
"Oh, yes, Princess, I'm listening."
"It's over."
"Oh, I know! Uaaaagh! If only Voltron had been formed..." He said, looking back at all of us with surprised eyes. "-Oh! Time!"
"I guess this isn't an actual attack." Shiro crossed his arms.
I huffed and rubbed my head. "You read my mind, Shiro..."
"And it's a good thing it wasn't because it took you... Coran?" Allura looked over to Coran, raising up her eyebrow.
"Seventy-five degrees. Oh, sorry. No, this is a meat thermometer." I snickered and cover my mouth, clearing my throat.
"However long it was, it was too long. You must always be ready to do battle with Zarkon. Look at you! Only Shiro is in uniform. At least Nyle has her bayard with her! Keith, Pidge, Hunk, where are your Bayards? And where is Lance?" Oh boy, we're dead. I can already feel it.
Lance walked in, looking at all of us with a smile. "Good morning, everybody. What's going on?"
"Coran and I have been up for hours getting the Castle back in order. We had to run a test on the alarms, and we decided to test you as well. Guess which one failed." Ok, now she's just being degrading to us all.
"Hey!" Hunk started, yawning. "You got to sleep for 10,000 years, man. Monday night, I was on earth. Now, I've flown through space, fought some evil alien named Zarkon, eaten goo in some weird Castle. That's a lot to process in, uh... I don't know. What day is today?"
"It's the third quintant of the Spicolian movement. Hump day!" Coran jumped up, speaking in a joyful tone. Oh wait, that means it's Wednesday. It's already Wednesday?
"—It's a lot to process." Hunk's voice knocks me out of my thoughts.
"You must understand the stakes of our mission." Allura started walking over to the control panel and brought up a map of the entire universe. A bunch of distress calls started coming through the map.
"Over the last 10,000 years, the Castle picked up distress beacons from the following locations. So, we have to assume that Zarkon has conquered almost the entire known universe." She says, her tone saddening.
'That's insane, completely insane. How was this never picked up on? Why haven't people fought back?' Allura brought the map towards the Milky Way, our home, and it was just barely out of Zarkon's reach.
"Earth is here. An attack on your planet is inevitable." She says, making all of us freeze.
"You're kidding..." I tried to raise my voice but I was just too quiet in this situation.
"Exactly. Our mission is to free all those planets. Coran and I are getting the Castle ready to leave Arus. During that time, you have to learn to form Voltron, so we can begin fighting Zarkon. Nyle, since you're not a part of Voltron itself, I'd like you to watch over your team here on the bridge and try to give them some moral support." Allura says to me, making me smile a little and nod.
"You got it, princess I'll be here." She gave me a small smile back.
"The Princess is right. Let's get to our Lions and start training." Shiro broke through the silence, grabbing our attention.
"Wait. But I want to talk to the prisoners we rescued from the Galra ship." Pidge exclaimed, stepping forward.
"Ah, negative, Number Six. I have you ranked by height, okay? The prisoners need to remain in the cryo-replenishers until tomorrow." Coran explains, holding up six of his fingers.
"That's right. Now, get to your Lions." Allura says, walking me over to the control panel as everyone else leaves.
"Alright, so how exactly do you want me to watch over them? Help train them or, just sit silently?" I turn to Allura as she pressing a couple of things.
"A little bit of both I suppose. If they need some type of help, give them a little advice or some support. But other than that I'd say to just stay quiet and let them figure it out on their own." She says back to me, giving me a smile.
"Ok, I guess that would make sense. Anything else I need to know?"
"I guess not. Oh, but I will be needing some scans of you by the end of the day. I already have everyone in a pod yesterday for some vital scans. So you'll have to do one. Shiro and Pidge had told me that you weren't feeling well and to let you rest for the day, so I guess it has to be today."
I sigh, facepalming. Of course, they would tell her that, they're being a little too overprotective right now. God, I can't imagine what Hunk would do about now. "What exactly do these scans tell you Allura? And how do they help really?"
"Well they give an indication of a regular heartbeat, healthy vitals and it senses something that should not be in your body. Like a parasite for example. Oh, it also gives the person the right medication and vitamins they need if they sense something wrong."
Great, now I'm gonna have to tell her and Coran too now. Why I don't just tell everyone at this point? "Um, Allura? What do you think would happen if it senses something that can be a part of your body but, only for certain people?"
"Oh, you mean like something extra? The pod would mostly like come to attention for future reference and give the proper treatment for it. Why do you ask Nyle?"
"I uh, no reason. Just, wondering really." I could sense the bullshitting look she was giving me already when I looked away.
"Nyleaya, are you lying to me? What's the matter with you? I can assure you whatever you're lying about, I'll find out anyway from the pods' assessment on you. So it would benefit us better if you just tell me the truth."
"I-I, Alright fine! I'm pregnant, there happy?" I glance back over to her, seeing a completely shocked face. Just bout what I expected.
"You're what?! Nyle that's dangerous for you to hide! Are the paladins aware of this?!"
I sigh and push my hair back. "Only Shiro and Pidge are. I'm, not ready to tell everyone else yet."
"So you still need to let Lance, Keith, and Hunk know correct?" I nod, she continued. "Why wasn't Hunk the first to know? He's your brother, isn't he? Why didn't you tell him already?"
I sighed and sat down, grumbling a little. "Because he'd freak out and go psycho trying to protect me. That's why. So I'm trying to hold off a bit on telling him. Could, you please keep it a secret and maybe tell Coran too as well? Because I'm sure he'll find out from the assessment."
"I can keep it a secret for now but, I advise you to tell everyone before we leave Arus. Because it's gonna be much more dangerous by then."
"I will, I will Don't worry, you'll stand there with me, right? I need all the help I can get really."
"Of course, I'm sure the father would wanna be sure he sees you again and with the baby."
"Funny you mention that Allura. Baby's father is one of the boys."
"Wait what?! Which of the boys is it?! And how long have you been together?!"
I laugh some and shakes my head. "Calm down Allura. No, we haven't been together at all. But, the father is, Keith. And I'm not even sure he remembered what happened really."
"Oh my, this is a serious predicament you've gotten yourself into. We'll talk more about this later alright? Just, try not to put any stress or strain on yourself ok?"
I smile at Allura and nod, hugging her. "I won't, thank you Allura. I-I appreciate this, really I do."
She hugged back and laughed a little. "Don't mention it, now let's get back to the paladins."
I nod and pull away from her, watching her as she pushed a few buttons and made everyone appear on the screen. "Feel the bond with your Lions and your fellow pilots until five become one unit and you form Voltron!"
"Exactly! Form a bond with your lions as well as yourselves! Put trust in each other and you'll have trust from your team!" They all smile at us and start getting excited.
"Yeah!" We watched as they started to fly in formation, slowly getting less enthusiastic. We could still hear them, and it was gold. "Whoo... Am I the only one who's still pretending to be excited?" Hunk says, leaning back.
"Clearly, this isn't working. Let's set down for a little bit." Shiro says, flying towards the ground with everyone following.
"Maybe we should be building Voltron from the ground up." I snicker hearing Keith's ridiculous idea.
"What do you mean?" Shiro asks.
"I mean, let's try literally building Voltron, like, stacking on top of each other," Keith says, making me laugh some more.
"Keith, I'm not so sure that's gonna work there. I mean that's not what happened last time you guys formed Voltron." I said back to him, crossing my arms.
"Like a cheerleader pyramid?" Lance asks, raising up his eyebrow.
"You got a better idea?" Keith retaliated back.
"I mean I'm just saying. I'm trying to help you guys." I narrow my gaze some and huffed a little bit.
"It's worth a try," Shiro says before all the lions start getting into their places.
They got into their little pyramid, Hunk going up on the top. I groan a little and facepalm while sighing softly.
"Hunk, what are you doing?" Shiro asks, looking at Hunk through their screen.
"What do you mean?" He says back to him.
"You're supposed to be the leg, over there."
"What? No. No, no, no. I'm pretty sure that when we did it last time, I was the head. Right?"
"You literally yelled that you were a leg Hunk," I said to him, Lance saying the same thing.
"Yeah, I was yelling a lot of things." He said meekly.
"Shiro's the head." Keith states, I can hear the annoyance in his voice.
"All the time?" Hunk asked.
"Let's just try it my way for now," Shiro says throughout the bickering.
"Okay, but next time I call head," Hunk states, a little loudly.
They started switching positions, Shiro started hovering over the rest of the lions slowly flying down. "Okay. Arms and legs... and I'll form the head. Feel the bonds with your Lions. Now, channel your energy into forming Voltron. Focus... Focus..."
We waited a while but, nothing happened at that time. "Is everyone bonding and focusing?"
"Why was this so much easier before?" Lance asked, groaning.
"Ugh, let's take a break," Shiro says as they all get down on the ground and Allura comes back into the room.
"Sorry to interrupt, but I may be able to help. Yesterday, you weren't able to form Voltron until you were in the heat of battle." She said.
"Yeah."
"I'm listening."
"You're right."
"Yeah, I guess."
"Perfect. Because I need to run a diagnostic test on all of the Castle's defenses. This should help!"
"Princess, it sounds like you just wanna fire at them really." I laugh a little bit.
She laughed as well and put up the particle barrier, starting to fire from it.
Everyone started to scream and run away from all the firing. "Serpentine guys! Serpentine! You know this!" I laughed more and held onto the railing next to me to stay standing.
"Shut up Nyle! This is horrible! Why're you laughing?!" Hunk yelled at me, only making me laugh more.
"Because It's hilarious! That's why I'm laughing at this!" I yell back, panting to try and catch my breath.
"Okay, go, go!" Lance screams, running everywhere.
"Allura, what are you doing?!" Keith screamed at Allura.
"Running a diagnostic test on the Castle defenses and inspiring you! I believe in you, Paladins! Let fear be your guide! Form Voltron!" She smiled at him while saying it in a cheerful tone.
"Oh, forget this! I'm heading back to the Castle!" Lance yelled, heading back to the castle but he got hit back by the barrier.
"Please stop! Please! Have mercy on us!" Hunk yelled, continuing to dodge all the lasers.
Allura looked at Hunk and crossed her arms. "You think Zarkon is going to have mercy on you? He's probably on his way right now to destroy us all!" She pressed a couple of buttons and turned to me. "Do not turn off these defenses until they have formed Voltron." I nodded as she pressed another button and walked away.
"Auto-lock-on engaged." A voice around me said as I watched the five of them run and scream. I sighed and shake my head. "When the hell are they gonna learn to work together?"
After a while, the shooting stopped and the barrier went down. I started freaking out and thought I hit something by mistake, so I went to go get Allura because I got scared. I went into the lounge and found the four boys sitting down, minus Shiro.
Lance looked at me and huffed some. "So you finally decided to stop shooting us, good. That was getting very tiring."
I rolled my eyes and scoffed. "I didn't do it! It just stopped you egghead!"
Lance narrowed his gaze at me and rolled his eyes. "Well if you didn't do it, who did?!"
"I don't know!"
Allura and Coran walked in, talking about something before she glanced up at us with a wide smile. "You did it! You formed Voltron!"
"No. The shooting stopped and the particle barrier shut down, so we just flew in." Keith says in the most monotone voice I've ever heard.
"What?!" She started, turning to me. "Nyle I told you not to stop it!"
I throw my hands up and back up. "I didn't do it! It just stopped on its' own!"
"Oh, right. Uh, sorry, Princess. I had to turn off the Castle defenses to test the fire suppressors." Coran said, shrinking a little bit.
Shiro came into the room and furrowed his eyebrows, crossing his arms after. "What are you guys doing in here? We're not taking a break."
"Shiro's right. You should be training." Allura says, turning to us.
"We've been training. When are we going back to earth?" Hunk asks, slouching down on the couch more.
"I'm not going back until I find my family," Pidge says while crossing his arms.
"Guys, there won't be an earth if we don't figure out how to fight Zarkon," Shiro said, walking over to us.
"How are we going to fight? We can't even figure out how to form Voltron." Lance said, a slightly annoyed look still on his face.
"Well, I'm not surprised. You know, the original Paladins fought hundreds of battles together, side-by-side. They were like a pack of Yalmors linked at the ears." Coran says, standing up straight.
"Wow. Yeah, that's definitely not us." Lance says, finally standing up.
"During the last attack, your survival instincts forced you to work as a team, but that will only get you so far. You'll have to become a real team to have any chance of forming Voltron and then beating Zarkon next time. You should try working out on the Training Deck." Coran smiled, putting his hands together.
"There's a Training Deck?" Hunk asks, sitting up.
They start leading us to the training deck and holy hell was it absolutely cool. Allura brought me up with her and Coran, telling me so that I shouldn't get hurt in my current 'condition' which was just bullshit. But I appreciate the worry so.
"Two, two, one, two. Okay, listen up, guys. The Paladin code demands that you put your team members' safety above your own. A swarm of drones is about to attack. It's up to each of you to do everything you can to protect the other members of your team." Coran says, Pidge and Keith forming their shields first as the drones fly up from the floor
"Wait, wait, wait. What's going on—Whoa!" Hunk starts as he forms his shield. "Did you guys get one of these?"
He looks around as Shiro and Lance formed their shields as well. "Get ready."
The drones started firing at them and Hunk almost immediately dodged them all, causing Pidge to get hit and fall into a hole.
I sighed and shake my head, face-palming some as Coran spoke up. "Protect your teammates or no one will be there to protect you!"
Hunk got hit next and fell down as well, the rest of the boys huddling their backs together to get more coverage. "Time to increase intensity." I heard Coran say as he pressed a few buttons.
"Oh lord, this isn't gonna go well..." I mumbled some under my breath, watching the three musketeers try and actually do this.
"You keeping up over there, Keith?" Lance says, trying to provoke him.
"Oh great, now they're never gonna do this. Course those two got stuck together right now." I say, Coran looking at me with a small laugh.
"Just concentrate on keeping me safe," Keith says back, continuing to block all the lasers firing at them.
Lance scoffed and rolled his eyes. "Me? I own this drill. You're the one who needs to concentrate."
The drones started aiming higher, towards their heads and they caught Lance off guard, which made him lift his foot and caused Keith to get shot, and then he falls down as the other two did. Lance tried to block all the shots but he ended up getting hit and once again, fell down a hole. What a surprise. Soon enough Shiro fell down because he was on his own and couldn't keep up with the drone's speed.
Coran sighed and hung his head but tread onto the next test, I guess that's what you would call it. Allura left shortly ago and I honestly didn't see her leave at first. But anyway, Lance went down and Keith got a headset mic on him, standing next to some kind of screen.
"To form Voltron, you must trust in each other. This ancient Paladin maze will teach you that trust. Your teammate can see the walls, but you cannot. So, listen carefully. If you touch the walls, you'll get a slight shock." Coran says, walls appearing then disappearing.
"Wait. Who's guiding me through?" Lance asks, getting worried.
"Take two steps forward," Keith says, looking pretty intently at the maze from where he stood.
I could already tell this was gonna be a show just from having these two together. It's always some kind of shitshow with them. Always.
"Oh, no. Not Keith. Why does he get to be the man on the mic?" Lance shot back, narrowing his gaze.
"Now, just sit tight. You'll get your turn." Coran said back to Lance.
Keith sighed and just continued talking to Lance, actually trying to do the exercise. "Like I said, take two steps forward, turn right, and take three steps that direction."
Lance grumbled and walked straight into the maze wall, screaming from the shock. "You did that on purpose!"
"You're not listening."
"You said, 'Turn right'."
"But, before that, I said, 'Take two steps forward.'"
"Two steps—" Lance once again got shocked and once again screamed. "We're switching places right now!"
Coran moved onto the next exercise and had everyone get into their lions, excluding me. "You'll never be able to form Voltron unless each of you has a strong bond with his Lion."
I saw Lance smirk from where his screen was and lean back in his seat. "No problem. Me and Blue are best buds for life, for real." He says, making me roll my eyes at the boys' overconfidence.
"Perfect! Then you won't have any issues with this exercise. Everyone, put your Lions into a nose dive! This is an expert-level drill that you really shouldn't attempt until you've been flying for years, but, uh, we're in a bit of a rush, so here we go. Activating training helmets!" Coran presses a button and the glass on their helmets turn black, blocking their vision.
"Coran, what's happening?! I can't see!" Lance screeches, making me laugh some while sitting down watching very amused. 'Ah, these guys kill me.'
"You must learn to see through your Lions' eyes. The goal is to pull up right before you crash into the ground. Feel what the Lion feels!" Coran yelled back while backing up some so he could keep watch on them.
"They're never gonna learn are they?" I say, Coran shrugging at my question.
"Mine feels scared!" Hunk yelled as he pulled away from the nose dive almost immediately, making Coran and I sigh a little.
"You still going, Keith?" Lance started. Oh boy, here we go again.
"You know it. You?" Of course, he'd retaliate back. Why did I think he would ignore his ass?
"Going? I'm speeding up!" Lance yelled as he started speeding up.
"Oh, yeah?" Keith growled as he sped up as well.
"Must be getting close."
"Must be."
"You getting scared?"
"I'M NOT SCARED!" Keith had completely lost his temper at this point and sped up as fast as he could, both their lions crashing into the ground and half-buried.
I groaned and shake my head, watching Lance's lion roll away. "Ow..." Keith says, kinda quietly. I didn't even know he was even capable of that word.
"... I win." Lance groaned out, making Coran sigh from the slight disappointment.
"What was that noise? Did they crash?" I heard Pidge say, he was still in the nose dive along with Shiro and they were doing pretty good so far. Though Pidge panicked and pulled up a little too soon and hit a cliff before he crashed down. I had already made up my mind that Shiro was gonna crash too. This was too hard for them, and I'm sure if I did it I wouldn't be good at it either. But he surprised me and he actually pulled up right before he hit the ground and started weaving through the rocks.
"Holy shit he did it. Wow, I was convinced he wasn't gonna be able to do it either." I was kinda quiet with how I spoke, mostly because I was surprised he pulled it off.
"I think I'm getting this." He said through the intercom.
Coran squealed in excitement and watched Shiro. "Excellent, Shiro!"
He was quick to move everyone back inside and sitting in a circle with their mind-reading things on their heads. Or from what I've heard that's what they are.
"Now the most important part of Paladin training is being able to meld your minds and focus on one thing: Voltron. Everything else has to fade away. This technique will be essential every time you form Voltron." Coran said as the five boys started to think of what was on their minds at the moment.
Lance was thinking about his family, who wouldn't? Keith had his little shack on his mind, I could see why. Hunk was thinking about food, which he always is. Shiro to no surprise was thinking about the Kerberos Mission Launch. Pidge was thinking about his girlfriend from what I could see. All this was making me think about my own family and the incoming family member I have that's gonna be here soon. I'm already almost four months now that I think about it, three months and three weeks. Great, now the baby is all that's on my mind.
"So, relax and open your mind. No walls, no secrets between Paladins. Come on, everyone, clear everything. Now, focus on forming your Lion." Coran says softly, trying to coax them all into thinking about their lions.
Everyone started thinking about their lions besides Pidge, who was still having trouble thinking about his lion. "Bring your Lions together a-and form Voltron. Keep your minds open, work together. Good! Keep focusing! Only one to go!" Coran says, trying to encourage Pidge further.
"Come on Pidge, you can do this," I said quietly under my breath while watching as his image flickers a bunch.
"Pidge, stop thinking of your girlfriend!" Keith yelled towards Pidge, the mental images disappearing.
"I wasn't! Hunk was rooting around in my head!" Pidge yelled back at Keith and pointed toward Hunk.
"I-I thought we were open. You can look in my head hole." Hunk says, looking towards Pidge.
'This is going just great isn't it? God at this rate we aren't gonna be able to take down Zarkon at all.' My thoughts were running wild and I could tell Coran was getting frustrated as well.
"Everyone has to be able to look in everyone's head holes! Clear your minds!" He yelled towards the group while sighing.
"Coran I don't think this is gonna work as well as you want it to," I said towards him, raising my eyebrow.
"Oh just wait, they can do it."
I sighed and just continued to watch them try. They managed to all get their lions up, which surprised me a little. I love these guys to death but, they're kinda a little difficult when it comes to working together. But they're doing better this time.
"Good! Almost there." Coran says, basically leaning out of the control tower and I had to pull him back a little to keep him from actually falling. "Now, form Voltron. Yes!"
Just as Voltron was about to be formed, the same picture Pidge was thinking of came back which made everyone down there groan.
"Pidge!" Lance yelled out, glaring towards the said boy.
"I'm done with this! Look, I don't like everyone grubbing around in my head!" Pidge lost his temper and threw the headset down on the ground before standing up.
"Oh, come on, Pidge, we're starting to get the hang of this," Shiro says calmly, trying to reel Pidge back in.
"I'm just... I'm just tired, okay?" He said back while looking down at his feet.
"Okay. Let's take a break." Shiro says everyone, taking their headsets off. Coran and I come down with some juice pouch looking type things and hand them to everyone.
"Well you guys are doing alright I guess." I sat down with them, crossing my legs.
"That doesn't exactly make it better Nyle," Lance says, glancing at me.
"Well, at least she's trying to make us feel better, Lance." Keith shot back at him while raising an eyebrow towards him.
"You have been working hard. Maybe it's time to relax a little." Coran says while putting his hands on his hips.
Allura walked in and walked over to us, an upset look on her face. This was probably gonna get a little ugly. "What are you doing lying around? You're supposed to be training!" She yelled at basically everyone.
"Just resting a bit. Y-You know, you can't push too hard." Coran says, putting his finger up.
"What do you mean, 'can't push too hard'? Get up, you lazy lumps! It's time you faced the Gladiator!" Allura yelled, the five boys groaning some but they get up anyway.
Coran and I start following but he stops me. "Uh Nyle, maybe you should fight with them. I mean this part is something that I think you might be able to actually join them on. You will be joining them in fights you know."
Allura turned to Coran and shakes her head. "No Coran, she must stay with you for the time being. She can join them another time, the paladins need to focus on their own teamwork for now."
Coran could only sigh and nodded towards Allura. "Erm, yes princess."
I mouth a 'thank you' towards her and she smiled back at me and we continued up towards the control tower to watch. Coran put his little headset back on and spoke to the team. "In order to defeat the Gladiator, five paladins must fight as one."
They had their bayards, they seemed calm and they were in a fighting stance. Ok, ok that's good, now let's keep it that way. The 'Gladiator' dropped down from the ceiling and started going for Hunk. He started panic shooting, which got him nowhere and the Gladiator knocked him down. Pidge tried going for the thing, but it just knocked him right where Hunk was. Lance was ultimately down as well, being knocked into Keith which put them both down. It ran after Shiro, but he froze and it freaked me out. I thought he was having a stroke or something. Keith got up just in time to stop the Gladiator from getting a hit on him. "Shiro, are you okay?"
He just, stood there like he was completely frozen in time. The Gladiator knocked them both down, before powering down. Allura growled and started making her way down. "That combat simulator was set at a level fit for an Altean child! You're not even close to working as a team, let alone ready to face Zarkon!"
Everyone could only look down as Coran and I left to the kitchen, well more like he dragged me along with him. "So, why did you need me again exactly?"
He turned to me while smiling widely. "I want you to help me make the paladins some lunch! Would you like to help me with that? Because um, I don't know what your food on earth is like and you could be of great help to me Nyle."
I smile at him and laugh softly. "Coran, you could've just asked me. I'd love to help. I'm not the best cook though, so if you have any food problems I'd go to Hunk because he loves to cook."
Coran smiled and nodded a little bit while grabbing some things. "Well let's just whip up some good food for now and let the paladins maybe have a break. Of some sorts."
I sighed some and started to help Coran. "I think Allura's pushing them a little hard. I mean, this is still so new to us and we all still have so much to learn but she's trying to cram it in all at once. I get that we have a bit of a time crunch but still, it's not like we're gonna get it right the first time."
I can feel him put a hand on my shoulder and pats it. "I know you're worried about them Nyle, but you shouldn't stress out too much. It can be bad for your health."
I laughed some and smile at Coran, shaking my head. "Don't worry about me Coran, I'll be ok. Anyway, let's just focus on getting the food ready."
He sighed but nodded while starting to prepare the food, sitting in silence for almost the entire time. "Alright Nyle, you're free to go. I got it from here, you can go and chat with the rest of the paladins."
"You sure? it looks like a lot."
He nods and smiled at me. "Yes, of course! Now go, scoot!"
I laugh and waved towards Coran before walking out towards the lounge. I stopped in front of a mirror and looked at myself, sighing softly when I see how much weight I've gained already. Jesus, I really have to tell them soon. Or I might just be in more trouble than I want to be. I looked around before lifting my shirt up some to see my stomach. "Holy shit, I look big already." I groaned some and puffed out my cheeks.
"Ugh, I already hate my life." I huffed while pulling my shirt back down before walking back to the lounge. I came in and Hunk smiled when he saw me. "Nyle you're back!"
I laugh some and cross my arms while humming softly. "Yeah, Coran just needed my help with something."
Hunk laughed a little and held his arms out. "Come over here. I haven't had a good chance to hug you since before we left!"
I smile widely and go over, falling into his big stature while wrapping my arms around him. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me as close as humanly possible. I laughed some more and leaned on him. The silence was more comforting than when I was in the kitchen with Coran and I liked it this time. He eventually let go of me and I moved back before laying against the couch. "Well, you guys were doing your best. So I commend you all for that."
Lance smiled some, and not like a happy smile a stupid sly smile. "Well, thanks, pretty girl."
I scoff and roll my eyes while shaking my head. "I'm about to cut your tongue off Lance."
I could see Hunk out of the corner of my eye send Lance a glare. He can be too overprotective sometimes but at least he cares about me.
I laughed some when I saw Pidge hit Lance from the back of the head. "Thanks, Pidge!" He sends me a thumbs up and smiled softly, Lance was rubbing his head and grumbling under his breath quietly.
"Speaking of which, why aren't you training with us? I mean, you're not a part of Voltron but you're still apart of the team." Keith asks, sitting on top of the couch.
I sighed some, shaking my head. "Allura said for me to just back off for now so you guys could learn to work together and get Voltron together. I'll still be training with you guys, just not at the moment. Wish I could though. But, Allura's scary when she's mad."
"Well, just try and just do it anyway. I mean we have to work together don't we?"
"Yeah but I don't wanna face a mad Allura. You can, I'm not. Come on, Coran's making food and it's probably gonna be done soon."
Hunk's eyes slightly sparkle as he gets up. "OH finally! Food! Let's go!"
I laughed a little and rolled my eyes. "Weirdo..." The other four followed behind and sat down on one side while I sat on one end of the table.
"Ahoy, young Paladins! Nyle and I whipped up a big batch of focusing food. After this meal, you'll be forming Voltron six times a movement and twice on the astral conflux!" Coran says, standing up completely straight.
Shiro chuckles and smiled towards Coran. "Smells great, Coran. Thanks."
Just as they were about to eat, Coran pulled out some sort of remote and cuffed them together. "Hold the phone!" Lance yelled and looked between the cuffs.
"I saw a lot of solid individual performances today, but you're still struggling to work as a team. So, welcome to the final bonding exercise of the day." Coran says and puts the remote back in his pocket.
Hunk tried to pull away from Lance and Shiro before sending a slight glare towards Coran. "Coran, I want you to think about what you're doing."
I laughed some and ate some. "Oh man, this oughta be good huh?" I knew how this was gonna turn out and I was here to watch it.
"Oh, this one's a classic. You get to feed each other, like a pack of Yalmors!" Coran says while standing back some.
Hunk tried to eat but he dragged Lance's hand with him, making him fling his food into his face and groan. "Ow!"
"Sorry," Lance grumbled softly.
Hunk made an attempt to eat again but this time, Lance's fingers ended up in his nose and mouth. He made a disgusted face and pulled his hands away. "Ew! Ugh..."
Hunk had pulled Lance again and in turn, made him pull Keith's hand into his plate of food goo. "Oh, nice. You defiled my food goo!"
"It's your fault! This is ridiculous." Keith said back, Allura growling in frustration as she ate. I was eating and laughing peacefully, this was so goddamn funny to me.
"Do Earthlings ever stop complaining?" Allura said softly while glancing over at the five boys, who were acting like toddlers.
"Can't you just give us a break? Everyone's been working really hard today." Shiro asks, politely for some reason. I don't think Allura's in the mood to reason though.
Keith stood up and just yelled at her for god sakes. "Yeah! We're not some prisoners for you to toy with, like... like..."
"Like a bunch of toy prisoners!" Lance piped in, surprisingly.
"Yes! Thank you, Lance!"
"—You do not yell at the Princess!" Coran says back, making me snicker.
"Oh, the Princess of what? We're the only ones out here and she's no Princess of ours!" Pidge says and almost immediately gets a face full of food goo in his face from Allura.
Both Pidge and Keith glare at her before Keith picks up a plate. "Go loose, Pidge!" He flings it towards Allura, but it doesn't hit her and Coran blocked it before flinging a large scoop of food goo at them. I backed onto the side where Allura and Coran were while laughing some.
"Oh, it's on now," Hunk says while taking a mouthful of food goo and spitting it out at us like a machine gun. I ducked down and grabbed a plate of food goo before throwing the goo at them. I managed to hit Shiro and I may have just cucked myself by doing that. Because now he was a little lazer-focused on me. He hit me a few times and we both laughed before I got him back again, but then Lance hit me in the back of the head and Pidge got me in the side. I smirk and raise an eyebrow before divebombing the food goo at them. They yell and slightly fall back before laughing.
"Enough! Do you see what you're doing?!" Allura suddenly yelled, making us all silent and stare at her. She looked up and smiled at us. "You're finally working together as one!"
I saw Keith smile out of the corner of my eye. "Hey, she's right!"
"I actually don't hate you right now," Lance said to Keith while looking at him.
"You guys thinking what I'm thinking?" Hunk says, getting everyone revved up.
"Let's go form Voltron!" Shiro yelled, the other three cheering on.
"Actually, I was thinking dessert. But, yeah! Let's do it!" Hunk cheered, making everyone fall down because they were still handcuffed to each other.
I laughed some while us three helped them up before Coran pressed a button to unlock the handcuffs and let them go. They headed down to their lions and we went outside to see the lions go up, and Voltron came back down. "They did it. I'm proud of them"
"I told you I could get them to do it. They just needed a common enemy." Allura says, smiling up at the gigantic robot.
"It's true. Like the old proverb says, 'A man can be driven to do anything, if a beautiful woman is just really, really mean to him'." Coran says, making me snicker and Allura looks back unamused.
"Coran, you're almost there buddy. But I don't think that's how the proverb goes." I say back to him while laughing some more.
We all headed back inside, but holy Jesus am I tired. I'm gonna knock out when I hit the bed. Oh wait, I have to do that stupid scan for Allura and Coran. But, no matter. I'm still gonna try and get a good night's sleep tonight. And not have to toss and turn all night because of this stupid pregnancy. "Man, that was cool! I'm so charged up, I don't know if I'm going to be able to sleep tonight." Lance yelled, knocking me out of my thoughts.
"Not me. When my head hits the pillow, I'm going to be lights out." Keith says, laughing softly.
Hunk dropped in between the two of them and laid his arms across the top of the couch. "I just want you to know that I realized when we were in Voltron, we're brothers, man. You know? Like, we're totally connected. No secrets, no barriers, no nothing. Brothers all the way. I love you guys." He hugged them tightly, making me laugh while I sat down while leaning back and made sure to hide the bump threatening to protrude out from my shirt.
"G-forces mess with your head a little bit?" Keith asks, chuckling some under his breath.
"Yeah, maybe a little. I-I don't know. It's been a tough few days." Hunk says while letting go of the two while rubbing the back of his head.
"Or he could just be really tired and he doesn't wanna admit it." I laughed some, the other three laughing as well.
Coran cleared his throat and looks at me. "Um, sorry to interrupt but we need you for your scan Nyle. Could we borrow you for a little bit?"
I laughed some and nodded while getting up, humming softly. "Yep, I'm on my way. Night guys, see you tomorrow." I did a two-finger salute to the boys before walking off, hearing them say their goodnight's and all that.
Once we were a little ways away, Coran turned to me and sighed. "Allura told me about, ya know."
I sighed and pulled my arms to cover my stomach. "I figured she did. And I'm sure she told you to keep quiet about it right? Until I tell everyone?"
He nodded and crossed his arms. "But you should tell them soon Nyle. They're gonna find out eventually, especially when there's gonna be a baby aboard the castle soon."
"Coran, I know. Don't pester me about what I already know, please."
He sighed and nodded before leading me back to the infirmary before quickly scanning me. Allura hums as she looked at a small screen with all my vitals. "Well, you seem to be in perfect health Nile. And, the child is absolutely great." She smiled at me while putting the screen down.
"Thanks, princess. I should be heading off to bed now, night you two." I started walking off and waved, they waved back as I head to my room.
