"My dad only thought of Olivia and I as sex toy. Ever since I was 15 he had a friend who I liked. His name was Chris Hemsworth. Well, Chris was 32, and I was 15 so, you know. It couldn't happen. So, we snuck around. One time my older brother Channing came in on us and like any good big brother he freaked. Threating to tell my dad, he made us promise to stop having sex. A month or so went by and Chris came over when Channing was at his girlfriends. He was trying to sleep with me, and I didn't want to break my promise to my brother. So, I ran out of the room and told my dad." Demi started. Her voice began to crack as she started to cry.

"What happened?" Joe asked, begging to know.

"My dad looked me dead in the eye and said 'Demi go back in that room and do whatever he wants.' Then I realized he was just using me to get drugs from Chris. He tried to do the exact same Olivia. So I pulled her out of that house, first chance." Demi finished. Joe held her impossibly close to his body. Then he moved away.

"Hey Demi, I know this is random but, I have to go on a business trip, and I was wondering if you could watch Maci for the weekend?" Joe asked. Demi smiled.

"Sure, I would love to." Demi said. Joe kissed her cheek.

"So, where is Channing?" Joe asked. Demi looked at her hands.

"Uh, psych ward on 3rd. Yeah, after he found out Chris raped me, he killed him." Demi said, as Joe's eyes widened. "Yep, ran him over with his truck. Twice. But he didn't get time, and landed in the ward for pleading reasons of insanity. He is stuck there for the next 6 months." Demi explained. Joe chuckled along with Demi as the girls came back.

"You're letting that bitch watch my daughter?!?! I'm perfectly capable of watching my child." Shailene said. Joe shook his head.

"No, you're not aloud near her. Not until after the court date. I have to go, I may see you later." Joe said before getting stopped by his ex-wife. "Hi, Ashley." Joe said walking past her.

"Bye Jackass." She said going into her kitchen, as Joe walked out the house.

When Saturday hit Demi was on the couch watching a movie, and relaxing when Joe and Maci showed up. Demi got off the couch and walked over to the door. "Hey Maci, hey Joe." Demi said with a smile letting them in. Maci walked in with a backpack and doll.

"Hi Miss Lovato." Maci said. Demi knelt down to Maci.

"How about outside of school you call me Demi, okay?" Demi suggested. Maci nodded, and sat on the couch looking at the paused movie screen. "So, does she have everything she needs?" Demi asked. Joe nodded, and handed her another bag. "What's this?" Demi asked.

"Oh, this is just stuff she likes to do." Joe smiled. Demi looked in the bag to find a coloring book, crayons, some doll cloths, and... a book.

"She reads?" Demi asked, shocked since in class Maci wasn't the strongest reader.

"She tries. She came home from school one day and said a kid was calling her names because she couldn't read that well. Ever since, she has been trying really hard to read better."  Joe explained. Demi smiled, and set the bag on the couch.

"Okay, well, I hope you have a great trip, and we will see you Monday night." Demi said. Joe nodded, and hugged Demi. Then, Joe left and Demi went back to the couch. "Okay kiddo, what do you want to do?" Demi asked. Maci got a hug smile on her face, when an idea hit her.
