*one week later*

Ashley's POV

I jumped on my bed and looked up at the ceiling. I turned my head and looked at Alice's bed. I rarely see her anymore and we live in the same house!

I got up and looked outside longing to be free. I climbed out and jumped changing into a bat. Unlike most bats only me, Ian, and Shadow can see in our bats form. I remember the first time I met Alice.

*Flashback*

'Ian, wake up!' I yelled at my brother trying to shake him awake.

'Five more minutes' he complained pushing me away. I flew back and hit the wall. Now I was getting mad. He didn't even notice he hurt me. I raised my hand and levitated him in the air and dropped him on the floor.

'WHAT THE HECK ASH!?' he yelled at me fuming. I smiled innocently at him.

'Mom said I should practice my levitation skill.' I said inching towards the window.

His face turned turn red and everything was floating in the air. I made a break for it and ran. I jumped outside and changed into a bat. Ian was right behind me.

'MOM!' I yelled dodging tree branches. I heard a scream and I new it was moms. I looked at Ian and looked scared like me. I changed into a wolf and ran towards my mom's scream. I looked behind me and saw Ian follow me.

I bumped into somebody and fell on my but. I looked up and saw Shane. He looked at me and he looked pale. I saw his left arm bleeding.

'Shane what happened?' I said barley a whisper. He looked at me with red puffy eyes, he was crying. Shane is my cousin and we've always been close.

'Ashley close your eyes now!' Ian yelled from behind me and I felt him cover my eyes. I was shaking.

I pushed him off me and he tried his hardest to keep my eyes covered. I finally pushed him off of me and looked in front of me. My mom was on the floor covered with blood and looked pale white. I knew she was dead.

I saw a man five feet from her but he was dead. The man was holding a gun and I looked at Shane.

'What happened?' I barley whispered. I looked at him and his face was covered with guilt.

'I came to late to save her I'm sorry.' He said sobbing silently. Shane's parents had died when he was about one. My mom took him in since no one else would. He's our cousin but he's like a brother to me and Ian.

'It's not your fault' Ian said walking towards him. When Ian turned and walked to Shane he had his back towards me. From behind he looked so much like dad walking away from me. Our dad left us last year and it tore me inside. It felt like everyone was leaving me.

I couldn't take it anymore the pain from loss was too great. I started running I ran hearing Ian and Shane call me from a distance. I heard them getting closer and I changed into a bat flying upwards.

I turned me head and saw Shane and Ian behind me. I heard a gun shot and my arm felt like it was in flames. I started falling down. I closed my eyes and I fell faster I was getting cut by branches and I finally landed.

I opened my eyes and changes back into a human. I was in a pile of leaves and I felt stuck. A head popped out and I looked back at her. She had long black hair and gray eyes. She left and I waited in agonizing pain.

I saw the girl again and she had a bucket of water. She poured it over me and I bit back my scream. She touched my arm and it her fingers felt so cool and I felt less pain.

She moved her hand and looked up at the sky. I looked up too and saw my brother in human form falling right towards me. I closed my eyes waiting for impact but it never came. I opened my eyes and saw him being lifted by water.

I looked at the girl and she had her hand open towards him and put him down gently next to me. He was stunned as was I. What is this girl?

She looked back up and I saw Shane in bat form falling. He was falling so fast I didn't see the girl catch him. She frowned and set him on the floor. She bit her finger and she let three drops of blood fall on the floor.

She lifted her hand the blood form into three individual droplets. She separated them and one hovered over me, Ian, and Shane. She let it fall on our chest and it felt like a breath of fresh air.

I looked at my arms and there were no more scratched or cuts. I looked at Shane and he turned into human form.

I closed my eyes and fell into the darkness.

I woke up about 20 minutes later and opened my eyes. The girl was above me and was putting a wet clothe on my head. She smiled at me and I noticed her eyes were blue now.

'My name is Alice. Dad what are you going to name her?' the girl asked and I turned and saw a man with really green eyes. I couldn't see anything else besides that because it was too dark.

I saw the man wink at me and he turned towards his daughter I'm assuming.

'How about Ashley?' he asked the girl. That was why he winked at me; he already knew my name and - wait. Why are they naming me? I looked down and saw that I was in bat form. I must have changed while I was asleep. Dang.

'I love it!' said the little girl. She looked at a very pretty woman with blue eyes.

'Mom what are you going to name that one?' she said pointing to my brother. The women thought about it and finally spoke.

'Ian.' She said and the little girl started smiling again.

'Now it's my turn to name mines!' she said. Uh-oh. Her parents already knew what all our names were how they are going to tell the little girl.

She picked up Shadow he was awake and looking at her.

'Shadow.' She whispered.

-Has a nice ring to it. - Shane thought inside my head. I rolled my eyes.

-Shane when are you going to tell her your name is Shane? - I asked.

-I like the name and I want to keep it so call me Shadow from now on. - He said in a serious tone.

-Your joking right- Ian asked.

-no. i'm serious. I like the name she gave me and it feels, I don't know right. - he said.

-Should we stay? - I asked to Ian.

-Do you want too? - Ian asked me and 'Shadow'.

-Yes- we both said at the same time.

-Okay I guess this is our new home but I have to talk to her parents to find out what she is. - Ian said looking at me. I smiled and as if on cue the girl's mom said it was time to go to sleep. The girl didn't argue but took me and sha- I mean Shadow to her room.

She went to her bathroom and changed into a black nightgown. She sat down by me and looked at me.

'Can you change?' she asked me in such a mature way it caught me off guard and I nodded my head yes. She smiled at me and picked me up and brought me to the bathroom.

'Here are another nightgown and a towel so you can take a shower' she said and left. I took a quick shower and changed. I opened my door really carefully and I saw Shan- Shadow hugging Alice.

I saw him and noticed something was different. I noticed blood dripping from his neck and Alice was drinking it! Oh my gosh she's a vampire!!! Alice fell and Shadow caught her and put her on her bed softly.

'What the heck was that?!' I whispered/yelled. The door to her room opened and her parents came in with Ian next to them. He was a little shocked but not as much as I was.

'Come with us and we'll explain everything.' Her mom said and we followed her out.

She pretty much explained everything about Alice, her past, present, and pretty much future. When that was over I went back to Alice's room. She was looking at me with confusion.

'Are you okay' she asked softly.

'Yes silly girl, what about you?' she nodded her head.

'My brother left me not to long ago and I'm lonely even though I have my parents. I always wanted a sister.' She said sadly. I walked up to her and gave her a hug.

I completely opened up to her after that and we talked until we both fell asleep. I feel like I belonged here. At my other house it was falling apart and I fell under only to be lifted up by Alice. She's my family now.

***END OF FLASHBACK***

I changed back to human form and sat on the floor. My knees to my chest and my tears streaming down my face. What if she leaves me? What if she turns her back on me for him? I wouldn't be able to handle it.

I started sobbing and someone pat me on the head. I looked up and looked at Alice. Even though were the same age she's like a mother or an older sister to me and means the world to me.

'Wh-what are y-you doing here' I stuttered wiping my eyes.

'I think the question is why are you crying.' She said soothingly.

'Your spending so much time with that boy and Im afraid your going to leave me.' I said starting to sob again. She looked stunned then she hugged me.

'Silly girl, I will never turn my back on you ever! You're my sister, not by blood but I have always felt you as part of my family. I will never turn my back on you don't you ever think that!' she said in a serious yet calm voice.

I cried harder and she rubbed my back until I stopped. I looked at her and smiled she smiled back at me.

'I was on my way home actually to give you a surprise actually.' She said while standing up pulling me with her.

'What is it?' I asked full of excitement.

'Me and you are going to the beach the entire weekend!' she said smiling. I jumped up and hugged her. We both laughed and walked home...

Unknown's POV

I hid in the bushes watching her leave the house. Boss said it's almost time to start. I can't wait to watch that girl die slowly and painfully like my creator did. So many possibilities to watch her in pain and we have them all written down.

I have to be patient though; I have to wait for her brother to come. I'll catch him by surprise, that I will. Won't see it coming. He's as good as gone like her parents. She'll lose everything important to her, that she will. But its time to wait and watch from a far.

She won't ever get to say goodbye...
