A Forest

~Chase's Thoughts~
Just in case Skye was watching me I made sure to make her think I was heading to the beach since I know that would be the very first place the others or her would check on me.

The German Shepherd strolls along the trees and passes the woodland creatures with his head down.

I just need some peace, quiet, and a good place to think... Is what Marshall said about Skye true? Why would my own girlfriend not tell me something as major as Marshall pretending to be my hero all these years? I don't want to believe him or his lies but what if he's not lying about this? I never thought Marshall would betray me but he did so doesn't that mean Skye can too?

Now at the center of the forest, Chase stops walking and looks towards the early morning sky.

I can't be around Marshall but how am I supposed to avoid Skye as I figure out a way to ask her if she went behind my back with Marshall?! Will my anger get the better of me again? I don't want to hurt anybody so all I can do is think of ways I can control my anger. Hmm, what about taking deep breaths maybe that can-

~End of Chase's Thoughts~

Everest: "Chase?!"

The police dog's head whips around.

Chase: "Oh no, not you again." He groans.

Everest: "Too bad! At least one of us is happy to see the other."

Chase: "If you knew why I'm here you wouldn't be so happy talking to me right now." He scoffs.

Everest: "Then tell me."

A minute of awkward silence goes by.

Everest: "It's because you don't trust me right?"

Chase: "Obviously. You hate my girlfriend and  have no respect for my privacy."

Everest: "None of that was in my plan! I didn't really have a plan! It was all Marshall!"

Chase: "I don't know who to believe because both of you have been out to get me and Skye!"

Everest: "That's only because I... Well..."

Chase: "What?" He demands.

She looks elsewhere.

Everest: "It doesn't matter. I'm nothing but a waste of your time, right?"

The German Shepherd lets out an irritated sigh.

Chase: "And a pain."

She glares at him. He rethinks his words.

Chase: "But you're not nothing, okay? Honestly, you're one of the toughest girls I've ever met and that's a lot."

Everest: "Really? You mean it?"

Chase: "Yes, you can believe whatever you want about me or yourself at the end of the day but... But I can see that there is good in you, Everest. You just have to show it more often."

The Husky pauses, taking in what he said.

Everest: "Wow, uh, thanks."

She starts walking off but suddenly stops in her tracks.

Everest: "Is there any way I can make up for all the mess I caused?"

There's a long phase before Chase turns around to face her.

Chase: "Actually yes. Stay a while I could use some help."

Everest: "Really?!" She exclaims.

Chase: "Yeah but-"

Everest: "I'm so happy I could kiss you!"

Quickly, Chase takes a massive step back.

Everest: "But... I won't. I promise." She laughs.

Chase: "Okay then let's get started."

At the Lookout

~Skye's Thoughts~

So how should I wake up everyone? I know! I'll grab a spoon and bowl and it'll make a ringing noise.

And Skye did just that and it worked. The rest of the PAW Patrol appears one by one.

Zuma: "Sewiously?"

Rubble: "Five more minutes."

Rocky: "I don't know which one is worse getting yelled awake or hearing that."

Skye: "Enough complaining you guys-"

Rocky: "We know, we know you want to find your boyfriend and-"

Skye: "No!" She panics.

Everyone stares at her, confused.

Rubble: "Um, why?"

Skye: "Because he is perfectly fine."

Zuma: "How do you know that, dude?"

Skye: "Because um... Well... Chase... I mean I... It's just I sense it..."

Rubble: "Huh? You can sense it?"

Rocky: "What? Why do I feel like you don't want us to search for him?"

Skye: "Look, all I'm saying is that we should stop looking for now because... We could use a day to relax."

Rocky: "I get that but aren't you worried about Chase at all?"

Skye: "I am but sometimes you just have to trust them."

Long pause.

Rocky: "I guess we can stop for a couple hours. But after that I'm looking for Chase with or without you."

Skye: "Okay." She voices.

Zuma: "Well, now that that's settled. I'll be at the beach with Debwa if you need me dudes."

Skye: "Tell her I said hi."

Zuma: "Will do, dude."

The Chocolate Labrador scampers off.

Rubble: "Dibs on Zuma's breakfast!"

Rocky: "Wait! Give me some!"

Rubble: "Whoever gets there first gets it!" He yells already ahead.

Rocky: "No fair!"

Skye: "Come on, Chase. I don't know how to stall the guys any longer." She mumbles to herself.

In a Forest

Everest: "Rage change?"

Chase: "That's what I call it."

Everest: "But you don't turn into someone completely different, right?"

Chase: "It's hard to tell what I'll do so I'm not entirely sure." He pauses. "But I don't want to hurt anyone."

Everest: "Doesn't Marshall deserve it though?"

Chase: "I don't care. That's not who I am, I don't hurt people. I'm not some kind of... Monster."

A brief pause.

Everest: "Riiiight and does Skye know about any of this?"

Chase: "Not yet. But if I go back I'll run into Marshall and... I'll probably flip out."

Everest: "Or maybe it's about time you start keeping things from her too."

Chase: "Too? Yeah, right." He remarks sarcastically. "She tells me everything."

Everest: "I know you probably think she does but I heard a few things one night between her and Marshall that you should know about."

The German Shepherd's eyes widen, he has a sneaky suspicion that he knows what she'll say next.

Everest: "Marshall made a deal with Skye..."

Chase's heart drops.

Chase: "Something about allowing me and Skye to date?"

Everest: "Wait, so you know?"

The Shepherd leans on the closest tree to hide his face.

Chase: "So... Marshall wasn't lying about that..."

Full of sympathy, Everest gives him some space.

Everest: "Look, Chase I'm sorry you had to find out like this."

Chase: "Don't apologize, it's not your fault. It's Skye's fault." He argues.

Everest: "What are you going to do?"

Chase: "I'm... I'm going to find a way to control this new anger I have before my biggest fear happens..."

Everest: "Okay, then let's get started."

A/N: My only excuses are school, homework, volleyball practice, and church service things. But I will try my best to update every weekend and/or maybe earlier, I can't say. So bye for now! 😴💭✨
