1 - Homeless.
°•°•°•°•°•°
Rosé P.O.V.
Walking down the street with a suitcase in one hand and a broken phone in another.
Life is just great!
I roll my eyes at my thoughts. I know I may look stupid doing this, but I don't care anymore.
Kicked out of my rotten apartment.
A huge loan.
A sick mother in the hospital.
Homeless.
Well, that's what my situation is right now.
Life is just great!
I wanted to laugh at myself but refrained from doing so because people might think I've gone crazy. But who wouldn't be in a situation like mine?
I walk aimlessly; I don't know where I'm going. I don't know what I'm doing. I don't know how I'll survive 0this. I don't know if I should just kill myself and end everything.
But it's easy to say then to be done.
I know my pathetic self is too weak to grow enough courage to end this miserable life of mine and let my soul rest in peace.
I sigh.
As I stood, waiting for the traffic to change so I can cross over the road. The traffic light turned green and cars started passing by.
Just as the light turned yellow, I saw a woman starting to walk on the crossover while doing something on her phone.
Is she out of her mind?!
A car was coming in her direction, and I quickly jumped into action. Dropping my things and running at full speed towards that woman.
I grab her arm and pull her towards my direction in full force.
And you guys know what happened next.
We both fell on the floor.
But the worst thing was, she fell on top of my already weak body.
And let me tell you, she is damn heavy!
I groan in agony. I was having trouble breathing.
"Oh my God! I'm so sorry!"
She must have realized that my face was turning blue. I was sure that I was going to die right now. I always imagined myself dying in a cliché way, like jumping off a cliff.
I release a huge breath and coughed a bit. I stand up and dust off my clothes.
"Thank you so much, dear!"
I was startled by that woman's voice. I thought she left already.
She grabs my hands and looks at me as if I'm some kind of superhero, "I can't thank you enough. You saved my life. I'll forever be grateful to you. If it weren't for you, I would've been dead."
I just smile. Honestly, her words make me feel happy. An emotion that I forgot existed.
I feel like a hero.
"It's okay. I did what any other person would do." I say and smile.
"But no one did. You even risked your life to save mine." She says and squeezes my hand, tears form in her eyes and I look around awkwardly, not knowing how to console her.
"But no one died, right? You're alive, I'm alive and that's what matters the most." I try to reason out so she might stop crying.
Though I wish I would have died.
"I want to do something for you. Tell me anything you want and I'll do it!"
Okay, I was totally not expecting this.
"No ma'am, I want nothing. I just did what I feel was right, you don't have to pay me for that." I say, trying to convince this woman who looked in her late 50s.
As much as her offer sounds tempting, I won't accept it. It will be like taking advantage of this situation, which I didn't do it just have me paid back.
"But I will feel guilty my whole life that I couldn't pay back your kindness." She says with pleading eyes and now I don't know what to do.
Damn, she's persistent.
"But–" she cuts me off by her offer, "Will you at least have a cup of coffee with me? Please!" She looks at me with eyes sparkling with hope and it gets hard for me to refuse her.
I sigh.
A cup of coffee wouldn't hurt, right?
"Fine." And the smile she gave me was full of joy, and I couldn't help but smile myself too.
She has a pretty eye smile.
She suddenly hugs me, which makes me frozen. It was warming as a mother's hug.
I slowly wrap my arms around her. Tears form in my eyes, but I didn't let them fall. Not here.
She pulls back, her smile not leaving her face. She grabs my wrist and drags me, and I let her.
Not before picking up my things, I wasn't going to leave the only thing I have left now.

We're sitting inside a café.
Okay, I didn't expect her to be this rich.
I'm sitting inside one of the famous cafes in this town. The café I used to gawk at from outside. I never imagined myself inside one.
But here I am.
Life is not that bad, I guess.
I order cold coffee while she orders dark coffee.
Soon our orders came, and I took a sip of my coffee, and damn, it feels like utopia. I close my eyes in content. I take small sips because I don't want this coffee to end this quickly. Who knows when will I ever have time or money to drink a coffee like this.
Maybe never.
"What's your name, dear?" I was brought back to reality by that woman's voice.
"Rosé. My name is Park Rosé." I say.
"What a pretty name." She smiles and I force a smile back, not used to compliments.
"What's your name ma'am?" I ask in curiosity, cursing at myself for not asking this before.
"Park Jihye." I nod, chanting her name inside my head so I won't forget it.
"Can I ask you something, if you don't mind?" She asks.
I nod, "Yeah, sure." And I was definitely not expecting that question.
"Why are you carrying this suitcase?" I was a bit taken aback by her question.
Should I tell her the truth or not?
"I...um...I was kinda...haha...kicked out of my apartment." I say as I chuckle in embarrassment.
Why did I just say that?
Now she'll know how unfortunate I am.
"Oh dear, poor you. Where will you live now?" She asks curiously.
This woman sure is a curious person.
"I...I don't know..." I mumble and look down, trying not to let her see tears in my eyes.
"I can offer you a job!" She says and my head shoots up in her direction.
"Oh no, it's fi–"
She cuts me off, "The pay will be good." That had my mouth shut.
As much as I don't want to take her offer, I'm in desperate need of a job.
"What will I have to do?" I ask, not believing that I'm doing this yet I have to, not for myself but at least for my Mother.
"To take care of my son."
That's it?
I like kids, I don't think it will be a problem for me.
"And also, I need someone who can look after him 24/7, so you must live with me."
I was shocked at that. I narrow my eyes at her because I don't know if she said this on purpose knowing I'm homeless or she really needs someone to look after her son all the time.
"Okay, how much will I get paid?" I ask and I don't expect something big because she's also offering me a roof to live under.
I'm not complaining though.
"$50,000."
I choked on my coffee. I punched against my chest as I kept coughing.
"Dear, are you okay?" She asks in concern.
"M-Mam, c-can you repeat yourself?" I say, not believing her words. I gap at her with wide eyes.
I definitely heard wrong. I need to get my ears checked.
She frowns in confusion, "I asked if you are okay?"
I shake my head vigorously, "No, no, before that!"
She tilts her head and casually says, "$50,000?"
How rich is this woman?!
"I can't accept this, it's too much!" I say because it really is too much for me to handle.
"This is the least I can do for you and don't think I'm doing this just because you saved my life, that's how I usually pay my workers." She says and shrugs like it's no big deal.
I gulp.
Holy shit!
Suddenly, my mother's condition came into my mind. I can use this money for her operation because I don't think I will need much of it. I can also easily pay my loans like this.
"Okay, I'll do it."
Just for the sake of my Mother.
She grabs my hand from across the table and smile, "Thank you so much, dear. You don't know how much I needed someone to look after my son when I'm busy with my work."
I can only nod in reply.
She stands up and pays the bill. I stand too and follow her.
"I'm sure you'll love it there." She says and walks ahead as I follow her. I smile and nod in reply.
Life is turning good.
