ATTENTION ARTISTS, WRITERS, EVERYONE PLEASE READ

Hoi! Me again. So I've decided I'm going to be making a species but I wanted you guys to help me out with it. I have come up with the basics but I don't have a name or a basic look. Well, I know what they look like but not what a base or all that would. Plus I wanted to see how you guys interpreted it. :3

Okay onto the tags so I won't be talking to myself. You don't have to participate but I would be happy if you did. Also feel free to tag some others who might enjoy this.

You guys have some amazing art! :3

Okay back to the task at hand.

So I have a really long thing here that will pretty much tell you the basics of the species but before I show you that I want you to know what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a name for the species, a drawing of how you interpret it (One basic and one special. I'll tell you what that means if you ask to join), the name of where the live, and little things you believe could be improved on.

Here's something I found on making a good name for a species:

The Name:

Now, I have to say, this is the hardest part of creating a species. I'm not going to get too much in detail with this, but it's rare that I use random letters, or well, to an extent at least. It's nice to have a name that "rolls off the tongue", or sounds nice when one says it. Which means that it wouldn't be good to have something completely ridiculous like afugafiskani or some crazy thing like that (I literally put random letters and a few vowels). I have a species named "xarnofis" (zar-no-fiss); It doesn't exactly roll off the tongue the best, but for sure, it's really not that hard to pronounce nor ridiculously long. I'm sure there are very few species name that exceeds ten letters (unless it's their scientific name).
This is copy and pasted from http://pizzatail.deviantart.com/art/Creating-A-Species-A-guide-and-helpful-tips-493939397 and is no way owned or related to me.

Alright now onto the thing I made to help you guys:

Basic Knowledge:

There are three different inner species to the one main one. There are Arials, Grounders, and Mountaineers. (These inner-specie names are one of the things I would love advice on.) The Arials have wings and are considered above the other two species, Mountainers have magical abilities and are in between the other species, and Grounders are made up of defect Mountaineers/Arials and just basic -insert species name here-.

IMPORTANT: THEY CAN NOT HAVE WINGS AND MAGIC (only exception is royalty Arials: have very little magic but large wings and the ability to fly Mountaineers: more magic but smaller wings that have trouble with flight) IF A CREATURE HAS MAGIC THEY CAN'T HAVE THE ABILITY TO FLY WITH THAT MAGIC (ex: a Mountaineer with wind magic can not use the wind to fly)

Arials have broad wings that normally are twice the size of them. They vary from feathery, to leathery, to furry and all of which depend on their rank. Royal blood normally have furry wings and some sort of small magical ability. Other ranks range from leathery to feathery wings but if an Arial is covered in feathers and has leathery wings they are considered cursed.

Mountaineers are born with magical abilities that begin to develop at a young age. There is no way to tell what type of magic a -insert species name here- has until it starts to develop and if no magic begins to develop it is considered a dud and is treated like a Grounder. The royalty of Mountaineers have small wings that can't fly very well. Their wings are often too small and have assistance from their own magic or just don't fly at all.

Grounders are considered slaves to Mountaineers and emergency food supply for Arials. When the -insert species name here- were first created there were only Mountaineers and Arials. They lived together in peace until one day some offspring showed lack of magic, wings, or just lacked the ability to use them. In blind rage each species blamed the other driving them apart and practically banishing the unwanted offspring to the wild. The Grounders are slowly working there way to be accepted by finding ways to survive with use of wings or magic.

Basic Looks:

So the way I imagine them would be if you took a cat's body, gave it a birds head and then pop on a dog muzzle and ears. Their front teeth are jagged and sharp but the farther back in the mouth you go, the duller they are. The tail is unique depending on what they look like or their personality. Their colors vary but Mountaineers normally have brighter colors, Arials have tints or blue or grey, and Grounders are normally more pale or dark. (I'm trying to keep this vague to give you guys some imagination room.) Don't forget that they can be covered in feathers or fur and that they can have feathery, furry, or leathery wings. Please remember what they can and can not have depending on the breed.

Where they live:

They live in a place called (I want you guys to decide this too if you don't mind :3) Where the weather is normally quite cool. During the winter snow storm are normal but normally aren't too strong and during the summer the temperature can become scorching hot. Each breed has civilization in their own sector which contains what you might find in a small town. They normally feast upon small rodents and birds but the also eat roots, pond scum/algae, fish, and other things. (You can get creative and even make up certain foods they might eat. Ex. Mountaineers could eat gems or something.)

Religion/Beliefs:

There isn't really much religion with this species besides the fact that they believe that there were three -insert species name here- who had created their world. Their names were how the breeds refer to themselves to this day. Ariala was the creator of earth and sky and wanted to show mercy over all the creatures that came to live on her land. Mounty was the creator of water and ice and wanted to see others tremble before the mountains he claimed. Groundbee was the first dud Mountaineer (and was thought to be the last) and he created fire and mated with Ariala to create the first life.

Since their separation there hasn't been many laws or rules enforced besides a death penalty for killing someone of the same breed. Taking a mate from another breed is allowed but frowned upon by most.

General Information:

General Life Span: They can live up to 80 years but sometimes die before then.
0-5: Baby
6-20: Child
21-30: Adolescent
31-34: Young Adult
35-60: Adult
61-80: Elder

As babies Arials can't fly very well but once they reach the child stage they can begin flying and as they grow older it begins to come to them with ease. DISCLAIMER: If an Arial is 60 years or over flying becomes harder do to age and once they hit 70 it begins near to impossible.

Mountaineers don't develop magic till the child age and they begin to be able to use it properly around the age of adolescent. Though can learn to use it in the later child stages or early young adult or adult stages.

Grounders are quite vulnerable at the baby age and should be taken care of with intense care. If one sickness gets to them before the child stage (which are quite common) then they don't stand a chance at life. It normally ends in death or a big handicap.

They all have the ability of reproduction at the young adult stage.

Royalty can live forever unless killed by someone or killed by sickness. (So pretty much if the royal person doesn't get a life threatening disease or wound they'll stay alive.) If royalty does die however they will go through the stages of life they haven't gone through then burst into dust. (For example: if a royal baby died they would grow up rather quickly and then explode into dust. However if an adult died they would only go through the elder stage.) Royalty doesn't go through the elder until they die. They stay in the adult stage even if they reach the age of 60/70/80/105 etc.

Special Capabilities:
Grounders: Grounders have claws that allow them to climb trees with ease and they come in handy if mountaineer asks for something to be sent up the mountain.

Mountaineers: Mountaineers have their magical abilities that help the with everyday things whether it be finding food or teasing that girl with a puff of smoke. (Remember each mountaineer has one type of magic. It may be vague or right to the point. Ex. Weather controlling and the ability to make plants grow.)

Arials: Arials have wings which allow them to fly in their cloudlike home. Their wings are also used are for sport and entertainment but mostly just for flying.

Royalty: Royalty have wings and also have magic. Depending on the breed one or the other is stronger.

Other Things:

Fighting is normally over basic things like a Mountaineer "stealing" from the Arials or vice versa. Big wars can break out and have broken out and will continue to break out until they can come together.

Mountaineers can use their magic to fight (depending on the magic of course) but they can also use their claws, teeth, or their tail if they have applied a type armor to it.

Arials tend to fly above their enemies and then attack with a crushing blow but it doesn't normally work since it is getting easier to dodge over the years. They normally apply armor to themselves to make the blow more deadly but it also gives them more fighting opportunities with their claws, tail, teeth, back, etc.

Grounders are some times sent to battle and are often equipped with nothing or overloaded with intense amounts of armor. Either way making it difficult to fight even if they knew how. Lack of training keeps them fighting with basic scratches, bites, and choke holds.

Royalty tend to lead battles but rarely go into them unless assigned to or they want to.

***

Arial and Mountaineer children tend to be raised hard. They weren't given soft treatment. If your brother broke your toy, oh well get over it. They didn't want to bring soft children into battle against their enemies so they drilled it into them. Essentially breaking them. This has been questioned several times and is on the verge of being put to an end.

Grounders treat their children practically the opposite. They raise them gently and act like each day they see their child will be the last and it could quite possibly be. Their children can be killed for the littlest things. May it be talking to an Arial or Mountaineer without being talked to or eating in view of an Arial or Mountaineer.

For all breeds the begin to leave their parents at the age of young adult.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

But ya. Just say if you want to participate and I'll keep you in mind. I will be picking winners and the winners will be considered to own that part of the species but I will own the entire thing. If you get second or first in the rankings I'll add your OC of this species to the story I'm writing. Please note that anyone else who draws, creates, or says the own this species without saying they are participating in this is to me is considered stealing. Thank you for participating! :D
