Chapter 13 Rabbit Hole
A/N: For those of you who remember at the beginning of the story where I wrote Neal in as Emma's boyfriend, that was an error on my part and it has been fixed to Graham. The reason I am bringing that up will make sense in this chapter.
Also with this being AU Neal and Milah have no relation what so ever. Shes not his mother in this universe.

Blaire
"Are you even listening to me Blaire?" David asked. I shook my head clearing the Killian Jones shaped fog in my brain briefly.
"I'm sorry, what?" I asked.
"Where have you been for the last three hours? We've tried calling you, texting and no response." David said and crossed his arms. There must not have been cell service at the look out.
Think Blaire.
"Uh..Will. I was with Will." I said.
"Where with Will? Because I went by O'Malleys and you weren't there." David sighed.
"You went looking for me?"
"Of course I did, I was worried. Emma showed us the video."
"Video?" I asked. "What video?" I was completely confused now.
"You don't know?" Emma asked. "Its all over facebook.."
"No, I don't know, hence What video? So tell me, what video?" I asked.
Emma sighed and pulled up her facebook and handed me her phone. I looked down at the screen in horror at the video of me on the floor in the hallway in the middle of a panic attack that Killian was helping me through. I didn't even realize how loud I was actually crying until seeing it just now. The caption was, New girl loses it in hallway. And the comment section was filled with people sharing laughing emojis or asking what the hell my problem was.
"Who posted that?" I asked.
"I don't know who originally posted it. Its been reposted so many times..." Emma frowned.
I shoved her phone at her and stormed up the stairs.
"Blaire, hang on!" I heard David call after me but I went into my room and shut the door and locked it.
I pulled out the paper Killian gave me with his phone number and plugged it into my phone before sending him a quick message.
Home. Have you seen the video too?
I paced the floor, anxiously chewing at my nails waiting for him to respond. David knocked on my door.
"Blaire, please don't shut me out." He said.
"I just need space. Please." I said. "I'll be out in a minute..I promise."
Come on Killian.. Answer me.
I waited for another few minutes with no response and scoffed before I went to my window and opened it and climbed out and sat in my spot. From what I could see from here his house was dark. I sighed heavily and then jumped at the sudden ladder hitting the edge of the roof.
"You look like a gargoyle perched up here." Emma said as she climbed up the ladder. I raised an eyebrow at her.
"Dad sent me..I told him to just give you space, but...he doesn't quite understand that concept...so scoot."
I scooted over a bit to make room for Emma.
"I just want you to know..I had nothing to do with that video being posted." Emma said. "I know some of the people I hang out with can be assholes but I'm trying to shut them down and Dads on the phone with Gina's mom trying to get it sorted out."
"Great." I sighed. "I know how it works, schools push the anti bullying thing to death but they don't ever do jack shit about it."
"You don't know Mrs. Mills. If anyone can shut that shit down it's her. Trust me. She's not someone you want to piss off."
"We'll see." I shrugged.
"So where did you disappear to for a few hours?" Emma asked. "Since you totally lied to my dad about being with Will." she added. I narrowed my eyes at her.
"I know when people are lying. It's a skill." Emma shrugged.
"It's annoying.." I muttered.
"I'm not going to tell him... You obviously didn't want him to know, and I feel like we have to have some sort of cousin code so you have someone you can talk to when you don't want to talk to him or my mom."
I tried to think of a way to not directly lie about where I was.
"I did some exploring.. Found an old look out spot." I shrugged. "Went to clear my head."
"Dead Man's peak?" Emma asked.
"Sure if that's what it's called." I shrugged.
Killian did not mention the fun name.
"Yeah Dad would have a cow if he knew you were up there by yourself. Its super dangerous up there."
Good thing I wasn't alone then.
"Look, why don't you come hang out with me and Ruby tonight? I promise it will be fun, and its better than sitting in your room by yourself."
"I kinda like being by myself." I shrugged.
"Well, its either come out with me and Ruby or be grilled by my dad about your whereabouts. Which sounds..more appealing?"
I sighed.
"Fine but I'm not going out looking like this." I said gesturing to my school clothes.
"Well get dressed then!" Emma grinned and climbed through my window. I glanced at the ladder and shook my head and climbed through the window where Emma was going through my closet. I rolled my eyes.
"I can dress myself, just go." I said and shooed her out of my room.
I peeled off my school clothes and tossed them aside before I walked to my closet. I grabbed a pair of black jeans with holes and my The Lost Boys tee shirt and quickly got dressed. I went over to the vanity in the room and sat down.
"Ugh.." I mumbled to myself. I didn't have much of my make up anymore, a lot of it was left behind in Oregon, the only thing I had was what was in my school backpack, which was an eyeliner, a mascara and my purple lipstick. It was just going to have to do. As soon as I fixed my face I opened my dresser drawer and pulled out the pack of cigarettes Will had gotten me knowing I would be wanting them.
Thank you Scarlet.
I shoved them in my back pocket and grabbed my hooded purple plaid jacket and walked out of my bedroom and down the stars.
"Where are you going?" David asked. "You just got home."
"She's going out with me and Rubes." Emma said.
David tried his best to hide the look of surprise on his face. Bless him. He knew I was a little hermit crab.
"You are?" He asked.
"Yeah. I am." I said.
David eyed me suspiciously.
"Well..Okay. You three stay out of trouble, and remember curfew." He said.
"Got it Dad." Emma smirked and practically dragged me out of the house with her.
"So where are we going on this little misadventure?"
"You'll see." Emma grinned.
-------------------------------------------------------
"Why didn't we take the car?" I sighed as we walked across the town square.
"Because everyone knows what my car looks like." Emma shrugged.
"And we are hiding because?" I asked. "If you say you'll see I'll punch you."
Emma led me off the square and towards the strip of buildings on Wills side of town where we met Ruby in front of The Rabbit Hole.
"A bar?" I asked and laughed. "You're joking."
"Nope." Emma smirked. "Are you sure Lacey is working tonight?" She asked Ruby.
"Yep she's carding tonight too so we're in luck." Ruby grinned.
"Holy shit you guys are serious.." I mumbled.
"Well yeah." Emma shrugged.
"I just..did not expect this at all especially from you." I said to Emma and then pointed at Ruby "You..yeah I could see you doing this."
"What is that supposed to mean?" Ruby asked.
"Come on lets just go in." Emma sighed. We walked in the door and there was a woman, who didn't look that much older than us, with brown curls and bright blue eyes. She wore a navy blue halter top, and a black leather skirt and heels that looked like they could be used as a murder weapon.
"Hey Lace!" Ruby smiled.
"Hey guys!" Lacey greeted us and then turned to me.
"Who's this? She cool? I'm not looking to lose my job." She said.
"She's my cousin, she's not going to say anything trust me. If I get in trouble, she does too."
"Good. Go on in." Lacey smirked.
We walked into the smoky bar.
"Because the smell of cigarette smoke is definitely something your dad isn't going to pick up on. You guys kinda suck at this." I sighed.
"Relax. Ruby and I have been doing this for months. We got it." Emma smiled. "Do you see him?" She asked Ruby
Ruby scanned the bar
"Oh! Over there!" She said and pointed. I followed where she was pointing at and saw a man, leaning against the wall, he wore a light gray v neck and a black hooded jacket. Emma grinned and hurried over to him. I raised my eyebrow as the man lifted her off the ground before crashing his lips into hers.
"That...is not Graham." I said.
"Nope. Graham is the decoy. Neal is the real deal." Ruby said.
"Huh. It appears the Princess has a wild side." I chuckled and shook my head.
My phone pinged in my pocket and I pulled it out and looked at it.
I had a text from Killian, or KJ as he was listed in my phone in case anyone else ever got a hold of it.
KJ:
Djfklsdhdgg
"What the hell? " I mumbled.
"Whats up?" Ruby asked. "Nothing. So.. what are we doing just watching Emma suck face with the wallflower?"
"Just ease up and have fun Blaire...what do you like to drink? Neal can hook us up He works here.
"Uh I'm fine." I shrugged as we walked over to where Emma and Neal were standing by a booth. .
I typed a quick reply to Killian before sitting down.
Me:
You drunk texting me again? I'm not at home, I don't have a car to come get you this time :P
"What do you guys want to drink?" Neal asked. "I'll go get it"
"You know what I like." Emma smirked. Neal grinned at her and I rolled my eyes. Neal turned to Ruby.
"Anything with fireball for me." Ruby said.
"What about you?" Neal asked.
"Coke. Just..coke." I said and sat back in the booth. Neal just smiled and walked towards the bar.
"You could have gotten a drink." Emma said.
"I'd rather not have a hangover in Algebra tomorrow." I said. "And I thought I was the wild one out of the two of us." I said. "Apparently I'm tame compared to you."
"Its just one drink." Emma said.
"Famous last words." I shrugged. I was not really fond of drinking, or being around people who were. My phone pinged again and I picked it up off the table.
KJ:
Sorry love, Sebastian was playing games on my phone. Aye I saw the video, Liam and I are already working on figuring out who posted it first so it can be dealt with.
My skin tingled. Love...nopenopenope it can't happen. My phone pinged again.
KJ:
May I ask what you are doing out and about, at 8:30pm on a school night Miss Nolan?
That one sent shivers down my spine.
Me:
Nothing that you need to know about.
"Who is blowing up your phone?" Ruby asked. I put my phone down on the table.
"It's Will." I shrugged.
"Please don't tell me you told him we were here." Emma groaned.
"Of course I didn't Emma, the guys a motor mouth. He'd never leave you alone about it." I said and glanced at Neal as he brought us drinks and slid into the booth with Emma.
"How exactly do you plan to hide Cigarette smoke on your clothes, and Alcohol on your breath from your dad?" I asked.
"Easy, I'll text him around 9 and tell him we are staying at Rubys. He knows Ruby and Granny really well. He won't mind."
"Whoa.. I did not agree to a sleepover." I said. "You do what you want, I'll go home." I scoffed.
"Well then how are you going to hide the cigarette smoke on your clothes?" Emma asked.
"Your dad knows I smoke Emma. He may not like it, but It's not going to bamboozle the man." I turned to Ruby. "I'm sure your house is nice and stuff, but I'm just getting used to sleeping in my room. I'm not up for a sleepover. I'll keep your secret as long as no one gets hurt. but I'm going home when we are done here."
"Suit yourself." Emma sighed.
My phone pinged on the table again. I picked it up and looked at it.
KJ:
Well now you must tell me.
Me:
Not a chance. Cousin code.
KJ:
Cousin Code? The bloody hell is that?
Me:
Something Emma made up. She keeps my secrets I keep hers.
KJ:
Send me a picture. Let me guess.
Me:
Why are you so interested in my whereabouts? Aren't you playing with your Nephew?
KJ:
I was, I'm home now. Just Captain and I. Milah's still at work. We're bored.
I sighed.
"I have to go to the bathroom. Let me out?" I asked Ruby.
"Sure." Ruby nodded and slid out of the booth so I could get out.
"Where.. Is the bathroom in here?" I asked Neal.
"Past the pool tables, to the left. Try not to look too timid, those guys over there will eat you alive." Neal chuckled.
"Not if I eat them first." I mumbled and walked away from the table. I walked to the back of the bar where the pool tables were and heard a woman laughing with a bunch of men. I looked to my right.
You've gotta be fucking kidding me.
There stood a very tipsy Milah, with a bunch of dudes, one of them had his arms around her waist and his lips on her neck. She looked up at me and her eyes widened. I scoffed and shook my head going into the bathroom.
At work my ass.
I looked in the mirror at the sink and fixed my hair a little. I pulled my plaid jacket off and tied it around my waist and took a quick mirror picture and sent it to Killian.
Me:
You get one guess.
I got a reply in record time.
KJ:
Easy. You're in the women's bathroom at The Rabbit Hole.
Me:
What the hell? How do you know what the women's bathroom at The Rabbit Hole looks like?
It dawned on me after I sent the text that I likely didn't want to know how he knew.
KJ:
The more important question Blaire, is what are you and your cousin doing at The Rabbit Hole? And how exactly did you get in? They card at the door.
Me:
Thats on a need to know basis, and you don't need to know sir.
KJ:
Fair enough, we'll talk about it tomorrow after class.
Me:
You can't keep me after class, to reprimand me about something I'm doing outside of school.
KJ:
Its you. I'm sure you will do something to warrant an after class visit. ;)
What in the hell was I doing? My phone pinged again but I put it in my pocket and held on to the sink to breathe for a second.
Your texting..your teacher and sending him selfies Blaire. What are you doing? Okay..so one selfie..maybe not so bad. No. Blaire. Hes. your. Teacher. Your married. Teacher.
My phone pinged again...and then again.
KJ:
Are you drinking?
If you are..is at least one of you not drinking?
Are you safe? Answer me please.
Blaire..
I went to type out a message but the bathroom door opened and in walked Milah. I tried to walk past her but she caught my arm.
"Its probably best if Mr. Jones doesn't find out that I am here." She said. Her tone was threatening. Two could play at that game.
"Its probably best you get your hand off my arm before you lose it." I said. Milah let go of my arm.
"Look..kid."
"Don't call me kid." I scoffed.
"Fine, You have to understand. I know you are in my husband's class and I know you know who I am because of that picture on his desk. Lives would be ruined if he were to find out I was here." Milah said.
"Why do you assume I give a shit about you? Or your husband?" I asked. That last bit actually hurt to say. I cared a lot about her husband. Probably more than I'd ever admit to him.
"Then its safe to say that my being here, and this little chat stays between us? I know people. People I don't want to have to go to to keep some brat out of my business."
"You know my uncle right? The sheriff? If you don't, I could arrange for the two of you to meet, if you keep threatening me."
My phone started ringing. I looked down at it and quickly ignored the call from Killian.
Not your best timing Jones.
"If you think I'm afraid of a teenager, you couldn't be more wrong. One last time, You didn't see anything. We never had this talk. You're young. I'd really hate to see you get into a nasty mess."
Milah turned on her heels and walked out of the bathroom. It took all I had not to grab her by the hair and smash her face into this bathroom sink. I didn't think Killian would appreciate that. Or..maybe he would. Crap. Killian. I looked back down at my phone.
KJ:
You have about 5 seconds to respond before I come get you.

I sighed and hit the dial button and sat on the floor as my legs were shaking now. What did she mean by nasty mess?
"There she is." Killian said.
"Do not come here. I'm fine. I was hanging out with Emma and Ruby." I said.
"What the bloody hell are you lot doing there Blaire? Its not safe." Killian sighed heavily.
You're fucking telling me pal.
"We're fine. Someone who works here let us in. I'm not drinking. I don't." I said.
"Are you sure you're okay? You sound a little scared." Killian said.
"I'm not scared. Just..not in my element."
And maybe a little scared your psycho wife is going to hire a hitman to take me out.
"I can come get yo-" I didn't even let him finish the sentence
"NO!" I all but yelled and then cringed. "No.. We're going to leave. Or at least I am. I'm going home. I'll text you when I get there. Okay?"
"Alright.." Killian said but I could hear the skepticism in his tone. "Just be careful that whole area is not good to be in after dark."
"Says the man who took me to a place called Dead Man's Peak?" I snorted.
"Who did you tell that we were up there?" Killian asked.
"Emma and I told her I was by myself." I sighed. "I'm going to go. I'll text you when I'm home." I hung up the phone and tilted my head back against the wall.
"What the fuck are you getting yourself into Blaire?" I mumbled to myself.
