Chapter 23
It was almost 7 and Kennedy was making the dinner, occupying his kitchen. After their lunch, she had been making something and although he didn't dislike her making new dishes, he disliked to invite people in his house.
He loved being only to himself. And right at the moment, he liked to be only with Kennedy.
He was laying down on the couch while playing a sniper game on his phone. As he shot down his last target, he felt bored.
The only thing he was doing since coming back home was lying down and eating healthy food which Kennedy gave him time to time.
After their intimate encounter, Kennedy didn't even let him touch her once and whenever he was trying to catch her, she would sneak away making an obvious excuse.
'Samuel! You have to take rest and we are having guests so no!'
His eyes went over to Kennedy as she was organising the dishes while waiting for the micro oven to make the beeping sound.
Lately his kitchen was being used many times unlike before.
He would rarely use the kitchen hence he would rarely clean it.
Now the kitchen looked much more dignified.
As he was watching her moving in that cute little apron, he was imagining her only in her apron. It wouldn't be bad...
Feeling his gaze, Kennedy looked at him and asked, "What? You want something to eat?"
"Yes."
She nodded and said, "Alright. I am making some salads for you the—"
"You." He added and Kennedy's face became red.
He smirked as she looked at him with a glare.
"What are you in heat or something? Should we go to the doctor?" She asked as she cut some vegetables.
"It could be because of the medicines...or maybe I hadn't been eating you lately."
At his boldness, her face flustered and she ended up cutting her finger. "Ouch!"
He chuckled as she looked at him while sending daggers and licked her finger. "Will you—will you stop it already? They are about to come and I haven't even had time to hide these hickeys you gave me..."
"Who cares? It just suits you anyway." He casually said which earned him another deadly glare.
As soon as she finished making salads for him. She took off the apron and came. She placed the plate in front of him and Samuel sat up to catch her hand.
She immediately stepped back but he still caught her dress.
She slapped his hand away and somehow released her dress to get away.
She giggled and said, "Too bad, you can't catch me."
Samuel's lips curled up as he said, "I can still catch you if I get up from the couch."
She narrowed her eyes at him and dashed to her room as Samuel jumped out from the couch and followed her.
She was about to close the door when he reached and placed his hands on the wood. Both of them were laughing as he opened the door forcibly and Kennedy ran to her bed.
He caught her waist and lifted her up as he said from her behind, "You were saying?"
She said while laughing, finally admitting her defeat, "Okay! Okay! You win. Let me wear my dress for this evening!"
"I thought you wanted to hide those hickeys."
"Of course! Or they will notice!"
"Unhun..." He added, "Let's see how well do you manage to hide the hickeys now?"
And his face reached the back of her neck as she gasped. "Samuel!"
He sucked on the skin there as she tried to release herself from his hands but she stopped soon as his warm breath fell on her neck.
He could see the goosebumps crawling on her skin. "Samuel..." The pitch of her voice subsided as she moaned.
His lips traced on her soft skin to her shoulders and left behind wet kisses. While he was still holding her tightly against his strong chest, he used his other hand to pull down the dress's strap from her shoulder.
He liked to tease her as she breathed heavily. She said in a weak voice, "They will arrive..."
"Let them arrive..."
"They will see us..."
"Let them see us, then..."
He certainly didn't care right now. It wasn't his decision to invite them and they were the one who would invade his and Kennedy's privacy. Why would he compromise for them?
His breathing fastened as well as his heart beat. He caught her chin and turned her face around while her back was attached to him. Her small body fitted him perfectly as she was made just for him to hold.
He kissed her as they both closed their eyes and danced the battle of kissing. It was firm and tender. Her lips were soft and delicious and he was savouring each and every taste of it.
However, it didn't last long as they heard their doorbell ringing.
He cursed. "The only cockblocker in my life is either Noah or Dean."
Kennedy chuckled as she pulled away from the kissing and pushed him out of the room. "Just go and receive them!"
He let out an irritated sigh as Kennedy closed the door and he went to see who came.
The doorbell rang again and as he opened the door, he froze.
It was Merrick Johnson, his father, standing in an expensive suit. From tip to toe, he was screaming of aristocracy and an epitome of mannerisms. His sharp eyes fell on Samuel but now it seemed Samuel was taller than him.
Why the heck was he here?
And if it wasn't enough to sour his mood, he saw another person he hated the most, standing just behind his father. Richard Johnson. The most suitable heir and his oldest step brother. He was a carbon copy of his father and he was also in a suit.
His asked in a straight face, "What did I do get a surprise visit from two insanely famous personalities to arrive at my doorstep?"
"You are as cold as before, Samuel." Richard said with a smile and he knew it was as fake as his good personality.
"I take it as a compliment." Samuel said.
His father, however, didn't comment on his cold reply. He simply asked, "How are you, Samuel? I heard you have been admitted to the hospital."
Samuel wanted kill Dean. Why the heck did he have to tell them?!
"I was. But I am fine now. You don't have to worry about me." His reply was curt and cold as he was feeling now.
He didn't even invite them inside as Richard asked, "So, will we not get the privilege of your invitation now, do we?"
He wanted to say. Yes but before he could say anything, from behind, Kennedy asked, "Samuel, who came?"
At a woman's voice, both of the gentlemen got shocked while Samuel froze. He totally forgot about Kennedy being in here.
Kennedy peeked outside and looked at them asking, "Um... Who are they?"
Richard said, "Hello, I guess my little brother wouldn't say anything about his family so, let me introduce myself."
He gave a smile to Kennedy and said, "I am Richard Johnson and this is our father, Merrick Johnson."
And Kennedy immediately froze as her eyes bulged out of her sockets at the mention of his father's name. Samuel knew why she got frozen. It was because of the blunder she created at her previous employment with his father.
To make the situation better, she gave a wide grin and said nervously, "Oh! P—p—please come inside."
She stammered like hell as she pushed Samuel out of the way and invited them.
He saw she had worn a black dress. It wasn't fancy but she looked very beautiful in that. She even did a little make up and let her hair loosened on her shoulders. His eyes went to her neck and it pissed him off.
Apparently, she had successfully hid those hickeys and as if she let her hair loosened because of that. Smart move.
"I am sorry for not telling our arrival before coming here." His father apologized to Kennedy as his eyes fell on the table. The dishes were placed there for the small feast and were covered with lids so they would not get cold.
"But don't worry, we will leave immediately because we just came to see how he is doing." His father added with a polite tone.
Kennedy smiled and shook her head. "No, no. Please, don't hesitate to join us. I have made extra meals since I love cooking."
Samuel's head snapped at her and she flinched. He glared at her as she avoided to make any eye contact with him.
What the heck was she telling? It was far better if it was only his friends but it wasn't pleasing at all if it was his father and older brother! He would never ever invite them in his life!
He wanted to lash out on her but he didn't want to do anything that would give Richard a chance to mock him or insult him.
Samuel's dad gave a tender smile to Kennedy and shook his head. "It is okay."
His eyes wandered around the whole apartment and he said to Samuel, "It is good to see that you are doing well, Samuel."
"I am. I guess now you don't have to worry about me." He said.
Richard intervened, "Well, I am more surprised to see that you are living with your girlfriend. That sort of thing is very uncommon in your case..."
Samuel wanted to tell him some of his colourful words but Kennedy asked while laughing nervously and trying to subdue the tension in the air, "Would you like some coffee or tea? I have made some snacks too."
Richard was about to reject the offer since he would never have a drop of water from his stepmother's sons' houses however, his father accepted it and said, "I would like to have tea. I haven't had tea in a while."
Richard looked at his father with a weird look and said, "Then I will have tea as well."
Kennedy nodded and went immediately to the open kitchen while both of them sat on the couch. Samuel took a chair across them. All of them were looking at each other intensely especially Richard and Samuel. It was an awkward silence but it got interrupted as they heard another door bell.
"I am checking," Kennedy said and went to open the door.
"I guess I wasn't late—woah!" Dean shouted as soon as he entered and his eyes fell on the guests.
Samuel's eyes met with Dean and immediately Dean froze.
It seemed like Dean hadn't expected them to come see Samuel.
Richard said, "We aren't ghosts that you are giving us that kind of expression, Dean." Although he didn't sound offended but it seemed more like he wasn't interested in coming here either.
Then why the heck had they come here for?
Dean gave a nervous chuckle as he handed a packet to Kennedy. He said, "Ah! Well, that was a little unexpected but I am glad that you came."
Samuel wanted to smash a bottle on Dean's head but it seemed he didn't expect it either.
Dean took a sit as Kennedy asked, "Dean, what would you like to have? Tea or coffee?"
"Coffee."
Kennedy nodded and started to make their beverages while all four men sat there in silence and occasionally glancing at Kennedy since they had nothing to chat and Samuel wanted to go out of the house.
However, he couldn't since Kennedy would be alone with them and lord know what would they ask her while he wasn't present.
Kennedy was already on her edge and he could tell just by looking at her shaking hands that she was more nervous than any of them who were present there.
He couldn't leave or do anything that would hinder his pride before Richard. He hated him the most. But he was certain, they hadn't come just to check on him. They must have some other business.
So, he decided to stay and be quite until they reveal it by themselves.
