Chapter 5: The Journey Begins

"Leave? As in leave New Growler!" Grazer gasped.

"Well we are. Not you blacksmith." Said Lukas.

"Yeah you'll just get in the way kid." Jess admitted. She didn't even know who he was exactly.

"Besides I think its best that some of us stay in the village, we need someone to protect it. Anyone who wants to stay here say 'I'." Petra suggested.

Nurm let out one of his villager sounds and Graser said I.
"Really? Just the priest and blacksmith? What about you Radar? This seems to be like a pretty dangerous mission." Lukas said convincingly.

"No! I'm going with you guys! For far too long I've been in the background doing nothing but have my tail between my legs! So I'm going, right Gabriel!" Radar blurted out.

"Indeed. I also want to go on this quest, I feel like no one needs me anymore. Plus, I don't want Ivor and Sorens deaths to be in vain." Gabriel said calmly.

"Well what about Lukas? Aren't you going to stay? You are the mayor after all." Olivia pointed out.

"And miss a chance like this? I don't think so! Who knows what could be beyond New Growler, I want to be there to experience it." Lukas said.

"Well someone else has to stay behind. I don't trust Graser with all Lukas' responsibilities in his hands." Stacy scowled. It's not that she hated Grazer, it's just that she still had a grudge with the whole Stampy incident.

Olivia looked around the room and sighed. "If no one if going to stay behind, I might as well do it."

Jesse smiled. "Aww thanks Olivia. I was going to give myself up on this one heck of a journey. So thank you!"

Olivia rolled her eyes and Axel was tempting not to bite him... or steal one of his bones. Jesse's sweet, crisp, leg bones.

For the rest of the day the ground came up with plans. Dan was almost tempted to stay behind but remembered that Ein was a werewolf. They needed the back up.

So the plan was that the next morning the ground of ten would head out through the tunnel the miners have been working on, and head out from there. Olivia would be a replacement mayor for the time being until Lukas returned. And Dawson would work the farm and watch Winslow while Dan and Stampy were gone.

It wasn't a good plan but it was a plan. Because they needed to find Ein first and then find a way to kill him. But Dan had a hunch that he may have used a potion on himself, for what he isn't sure. Then again it was a hunch.
That night everyone gathered what they needed for their journey.

Lukas was rummaging through his hold chest full of notebooks and quills, while Petra sat on the other side of the room polishing her rifle. "It's been a long time since I wasn't in New Growler... It'll be nice to explore again." Petra said.

"Yeah. I want to learn as much as I can before I'm stuck with my crummy job." Lukas grumbled.

"Crummy? Lukas, you're the mayor. That's the most important job in the town!" Petra argued.

Lukas sighed, "I know. But I always wanted to be a scholar, like how you always wanted to be an explorer. And yet, here we are."

"Whatever. I can't believe you Radar is coming though. Should we make him stay? I mean he's not the strongest one of the bunch." Petra suggested.

"I tried to convince him to stay, but he's as stubborn as a mule. Speaking of which, should we bring a mule?" Lukas asked.

"I personally like to travel light. My gun, ammo, some food and water, maybe a map. And that's it." Petra explained.

"Well that's you, Petra. You do you."

Dan, Stampy, and Stacy where in the magic cart preparing for the journey. Stampy was looking or some healing herbs while Dan and Stacy looked through Eins book.

There were extremely powerful potions and spells; Spells of prophecy, potions of invincibility, and even a couple things about magical items.

"Dan can you help me with this?" Stampy asked, trying to reach something from the top shelf.

"Sure, hold still." Dan said.

Stacy of course still looked through the book. The things about ghosts (or spirits) is that no one can touch them but they can touch others. It's weird but that's the only real thing Stacy knows about being a ghost.

So she flipped through pages until she stopped on a certain pair of pages and read it. There was a paw print mark on the page with a hand print inside of it. The order awaits? Was this Anthony's cookie cult or something? She thought.

So she mumbled the words softly to herself. "Today I was greeted by a group of people called the order. They told me that their one purpose was to bring humans and werewolves to peace. I just laughed until they told me of a necklace that makes the wielder invincible to all werewolf attacks. So I stole it and brought it to Growler Town for the humans, as a gift of friendship. Although at this point I was an exile and no human knew who I was. But me and my little pack of werewolves have a plan. Those humans won't know what hit them. -E"

Growler Town? I swear I heard of that place before... isn't that place over run with werewolves? Stacy thought.

But quickly she closed the book when Stampy asked, "Find anything interesting, Stacy?"

"Hm? Oh, it was nothing. Something about fairies." She lied.

The next morning everyone was ready to go. Turns out they where brining more than they expected, so much as they needed a horse drawn wagon. So as everyone was putting their stuff into the wagon Axel gave Olivia a hug goodbye.

"Be safe okay? Don't blow stuff up." Olivia told him.

"No promises, Olivia." Axel said.

"Hey lovebirds! We need to get going!" Jess called out.

Axel and Olivia blushed while Jesse and Jess laughed. At least until Petra's pet bore stole Jesse's leg bone. Then the tables turned.

"Hey! Gives that back you little-" Jesse warned.

"Back off, he's just a little pig. Like Ruben." Dan said. But regretted his words instantly. Jesse gave him a cold hard stare because Ruben went missing a few days before Jesse died. And Dan knew where he went...

While Jesse was giving Dan the death stare Stampy was giving Winslow to Dawson. "He's a little old so be careful you don't trip on him. And I asked some other kids to helping you with the farm. I know you should be getting this talk from Dan but... Make sure tell sheep stay in a herd, feed the pigs, groom the horses, and for Notchs sake don't give Wink treats just because he did a trick."

Dawson nodded and held the calico cat in her arms. Turtle growling at Winslow, and Winslow hissing at Turtle.

And so with a little bit of pushing, they where off. Radar sitting next to Lukas on the wagon showing him the map and explaining where the nearest town were. Jesse and Stacy stayed in the wagon. Not because they didn't want to walk but because of Jesse being half alive and you could barely see Stacy in the sunlight.

Petra walked aside the wagon, aiming her gun at a bird ever so often to get her aim right. Jess liked to pet the horse (who's name was Boxer), not because of the stereotype but because Boxer was a good horse. A strong one too. Gabriel walked a few yards ahead as a look out, he didn't want anyone getting hurt.

Axel, Dan, and Stampy walked behind the wagon and had a conversation about the whole book thing. "Stamps. Where's the book?" Dan asked.

"Relax it's right here!" Stampy said, opening his satchel. Technically it was more of a duffle bag because he also had certain things to make potions with to.

"Well keep it hidden, we don't want anyone taking it." Axel warned.

"I think the group is too big, we should've left Radar and Lukas back home." Dan admitted.

"The more of us means the more strength we'll have to fight Ein!" Stampy said.

"No, that means we have more mouths to feed and more people to worry about." Axel corrected.

"Since when did you care about what goes into other people's mouths besides your own?" Dan asked.

Axel stayed silence for a moment. "Shut up!" And with that he walked ahead of them to the other side of the wagon. Probably because there was shade there. But no matter what, the ground kept on rolling.

For awhile they where in a grassy plain. Whenever they did see a tree Dan would stop to climb up it, or someone would stop to do their business. But after the grass lands they found a villager village, but left as soon as they heard all their deals where rigged!

Eventually they did end up in a forest which was (according to Radar) a whole day up North-West. But sadly as much as they wanted to keep going, it was dusk. They did set up camp, but a Lukas suggested a few people's looked ahead to see if there was any town or village. Axel, Dan, Stacy, Stampy, and Jesse volunteered to go. So while they went ahead everyone else would sleep in shifts.

The five volunteers wandered around the for a bit, making sure to leave marks so they knew how to get back. Until they reached a worn down archway with a worn down sign that said 'Growler Town'.
