Chapter 14: The Rouge Hatchling who saw the future
It was another beautiful day in the Rouges Hidden Forest, like the Fairy Forest, but different. In the Rouges Forest a dragon with the darkest of scales was wandering down the dirt path. She was smaller than most other dragons, maybe around five or six, so she wasn't old enough to have a mate yet or go on big hunts on her own. But then again, why would anyone leave the Hidden Forest?
The Rouge Dragons had all different types of scales, wings shapes, snout sizes, colors and patterns, etc. Everyone was different but there were a few common things, the most notable one being that they were all female. Strange but interesting! How this tribe managed to survive for so long is incredible and a mystery to all other dragon tribes, even other creatures don't know how it happens!
As our Rouge walked down the path she looked around and saw many of her fellow Rouges playing, working, building, or just having a pleasant conversation. Some even having to open the front doors to their homes because of how hot they were. But the young dragon ignored them and kept wobbling down the road, at least until she reached her home, or her parents home at least. The home was made out of a giant old tree (that was still alive), which belonged to the chiefs family, so this young dragon was the daughter of the Rouges Chief.
When the young dragon walked in she heard her name be called. "Tao!" called a female voice. Though when the young dragon (whose name was Tao) turned she was wrapped in an embrace by an older dragon, the older dragon being her mother. Now, Tao didn't hate her mother, in fact she loved her very much. It was the fact that her mother was so overly positive, which wasn't a bad thing, but all the time? It was too much for Tao.
"How's my daughter today?" Her mother asked.
"Oh. It's fine, just the same old stuff." Tao answered, since she couldn't think of anything else to say. It was her default way of responding to that question, at least to her mother.
"You say that every day, Tao. One of these days your going to realize that everyday isn't just 'the same old stuff'." Said her mother.
Tao sighed. "Well mom, maybe if you didn't ask the same question then I would answer differently."
Her mothers scales turned a bit green (since she was one of those dragons who could change their scale color) as if she was sick, though it didn't blend well with her natural pink scales. "Fine, I'll shake things up a bit. So Tao did you see any cute dragons today?"
"Mom!"
"What? Its a valid question? When I was six, I had my types."
"You mean dad?" asked Tao.
"No, I wasn't into the whole 'I'm the alpha of my group. Fear me!' thing." She explained.
"So you're saying dad was a jackass? Not cool mom, dad is really cool!" Tao argued, her dad was one of the only dragons she would actually defend.
"Oh Aethers no! Your father was very timid, it was rare when she would actually be seen hanging around others. She always had her snout burred in a book or scroll. It even surprises me that she managed to steal my heart! Well that and how many mangoes I'm able to shove into my mouth." She joked. "And before you ask, your father is in the prophecy cave."
"Thanks mom." Tao said, though as she turned to leave she looked back at her mother who was now holding a scroll in her claw, "Actually... I want to talk to you for a little bit?"
Tao's mother literally beamed with excitement, her scales turned a bright and vibrant yellow as if she was the sun. "You actually want to talk to me for once?"
"Mhm, and we can first talk about this scroll." Tao said as she snatched the scroll from her mothers claw. The older dragon tried to stop her but Tao flew up and into a hole which was the entrance to her room and started reading the scroll. Wow whoever wrote this has amazing grammar and spelling. I never even heard some of these words before! I wonder who wrote this. Tao thought as she read.
Though before Tao could finish reading her mother barged in and took the scroll from her. "Don't worry about this. This is nothing! Eeyup, nothing of importance at all! Go talk to your father, Tao. Now!" Her mother said in a panic.
So Tao listened to her mother (barely) and went outside to find her dad. Mom said she was at the prophecy cave right? I'll check their first. Tao thought as she walked back upon the same dirt path. You cant blame Tao for being curious, and its strange because her mother never hides anything. Or as Tao would put it, She's terrible at keeping a secret. But then Tao started to think about the prophecy cave.
The prophecy cave... again? Why does dad like going down there so much? It's just a cave with a pool in the middle, a pool where I'm not allowed to swim in! And every time I go nothing happens! Is it because I'm too young? I heard that when a dragon turns seven they go to the prophecy cave and their future is told. At least I think so...
But before Tao could finish her thoughts she bumped into a bigger dragon. As Tao backed up she saw the dragon had blue and white scales, imagine a blue sky with a few clouds because that's what this dragons scales looked like. When Tao looked at the actual dragons face she realized it was her dad.
"S-sorry dad! I didn't see you there!" Tao stuttered.
Her father just laughed and pat Tao on the head. "How did you know I was about to come get you? No matter my little hatchling, follow me. I have a lot to show you." Said her father.
Tao followed her dad all the way across the village, almost constantly being stopped because someone needed something or some help. At some point her father gave her a 'go ahead' nod, signalling Tao to go to the prophecy cave, because she was helping an old dragon fix her roof.
Instantly, Tao ran off into the woods, over the creek, and across the meadow. It may seem like a whole lot to get to this 'prophecy cave' but who said anything about it being easy? In the end Tao reached a small hill that was clean of all plants (except grass), which looked like a normal hill. But the way Tao was coming there was a giant hole which Tao walked in, and as she looked down she could see the pool in all its glory.
So Tao walked down the coiled stone path to the pool, but as she looked in nothing happened. At least until she looked across the pool and her father was there. Yet Tao didn't ask questions, because her father did that a lot. Though when Tao looked at the exit she panicked because the entrance was no longer there, and the world went dark.
At least until a little light appeared. It was some sort of rock that her father was holding, and it had this almost heavenly glow. When her father threw the rock at the ceiling it never came down, as if it was stuck. But then another light appeared, then another, and another. Soon the whole cave was lit up with these yellow lights.
"How did you do that?" Tao asked. But her father just shook her head and gestured towards one of the walls before walking over to it, and like a duckling following its mother, Tao followed. The wall was covered with words, almost like a prophecy or writing.
When Notch is at war with his son who will protect the earth?
Not the Aethers or the Angels? Not the dragons of sky or shadows?
Then who will protect them if not their god?
Yet five heroes will rise from nothing, and will become everything.
A Wizard with the strongest magic,
A Fairy will the biggest heart but the smallest body,
A Human with a rebellious personality,
A Dragon who finds the stars,
And a Werewolf of Gold.
One of them will betray the rest,
One of them will create life,
One of them will abandon their friends,
One of them will be left alone,
And one of them will hide away, for he fears what comes next.
The Pillars are coming
"What is this? Some sort of prophecy?" Tao asked.
Her father nodded. "This was the first prophecy that ever appeared in this cave. This cave Tao, is magic. Our ancestors, the scholar dragons, created this place and enchanted it so that their prophecy's will appear here. Long since then they all died because they banished us, so now we thrive and they all died."
Tao's wings dropped a little bit from sadness. "Oh, I didn't know..."
But Tao was covered with one of her fathers wings. "Don't be sad," she said, "they deserved everything that they done. They where bad dragons, and with bad good always follows. Us. We're the good that followed."
"But did the prophecy come true?" Tao asked.
"Yes it did. Each 'Pillar' became a symbol to their species. Pipsqueak the fairy, Milo of the humans, the great wizard of the magic users, Ein of the Werewolves, and Starfinder of the Dragons. They protected the land when no one else would, that's what made them so great." The older dragon explained.
"How long ago was this? What happened? Did they live? Why is the wizard just called 'the Great Wizard'? Who's Starfind-"
But her father cut her off. "If you keep asking questions I'm going to have to wrap your snout with vines! I'll explain what I can, if you stop asking questions!"
Tao nodded and her father started to explain. "Thank you Tao. Now, this prophecy was made long before the Rouges even existed, at the time we were still Scholar Dragons. As for your second question, when Notch finally stopped fighting with Jeb they realized that they where neglecting their Earth. They where going to kill the Pillars before Ein the Werewolf betrayed the pillars and was kicked out. No one knew who the Wizard really was, therefor he was called 'the Great Wizard'. As for Starfinder, she's actually your ancestor. You look exactly like her, a splitting imagine. It explains why you're in a prophecy yourself!"
"What prophecy? Sorry..." Tao mumbled that last part.
Tao's father got up and walked to the other side of the cave where a new prophecy suddenly appeared before Tao's eyes.
Six years before the war, three dragon eggs will be born.
The first a Forest Dweller of the purest white, he was born to end the fight.
The second a dragon of Ice, born to bring peace and see the light.
The final a Rouge of the darkest black, she will bring back a tribe of the sickest past.
The first will be born with a bad front claw.
The second will be born with a royal call. The final is born to two mothers whose love is so strong. The three are born to save them all.
"How can you tell it's supposed to be me? Isn't there a whole world which dark scaled dragons? The six years before the war thing could've be hundreds of years from now, I might be six but that doesn't mean a war is coming!"
"True, but I saw it. The prophecy pool showed me what is to come. I can't tell you what I've seen, but I think it's time to show you your future Tao."
Tao didn't object, she always wanted to see what her future held. But was now the right time? Nothing made any sense to the young dragon. But she still moved towards the pool, and instead of being splashed with a tiny bit of water, she was pushed into the pool. And Tao could see what was to come of her world.

The sun turned into a shade of green, and demons with their shadow dragon friends rose from the ground to murder any Human and Magic User in their way. Dragons from the skies where fighting for their home from the wizard invaders, causing thunder to crash in the skies. Ice and Volcano dragons waited for the werewolf generals command to attack New Growler.
A group of humans, along with two werewolf, where trying to make their way out of some sort of dungeon with the help of a Steel dragon. All hate their capture as much as the rest of the world. And they're being lead by a human with an orange hoodie, who has revenge burning in his eyes.
Forest Dwellers tried to flee from the Great War, but only ended up being forced to work with the Sea dragons. For those two tribes along with Steel Dragons where forced to fight once more, no matter how many times they pleaded not to. And the Rouges Hidden Forest was in flames for their chief was captured and being held prisoner.
The Werewolf King ordered his dragon army to round up all the Rouges, and when they did all the King could ask was "Where are they?"
The pink dragon (whose name was Raindrop) just stared at the little king, at least until he asked again. "I know Rouges where dumb but this is ridiculous! I have your chief, I have Stormmover, now where is her hatchling? Your hatchling? I don't wish to do this, I don't want to because I want to befriend all dragons. Especially the Rouges, they have done no wrong to me. But if I don't find that hatchling... well... lets just say you wont see your mate ever again. So tell me Raindrop, where is the great and powerful Tao? Surely you know she is one of the last, if not the last, Zen dragon on Lupus. You know what a Zen dragon is don't you? Starfinder was the first one, she was what happens when a Zodiac dragon mates with a normal dragon. Starfinder had powers and so does Tao, she could bring back an entire tribe and introduce us to Space dragons! How do you not understand you filthy Rouge! What kind of mother are you if you can't keep a mere child under your wing!"
"Tao doesn't know about those powers. She doesn't know because she doesn't have them! If she did then I would have kept her by my side for as long as I lived. Where she is I don't know, but she's not meant to for-fill your prophecy. Tao is only a hatchling, please, leave her be." Raindrop pleaded.
"Don't worry Raindrop, I wont hurt her. I'll just hurt her friends, her non dragon ones. That'll make her come out, but I know she isn't the one to stop me. And neither are you," The Werewolf King turned and shouted to his army, "burn down the forest! Leave no tree left un-burnt!"
All this happening while the 'non dragon' friends the Werewolf King spoke of where near his castle. The young human child of blond was so scared of what stood in front of her. A castle swarmed by dragons, and flamed that would burn anyone who tried to enter the palace. "How can I take on a dragon army all by myself?" She asked.
Then above a shadow formed and it only shrunk and shrunk and her Aether dragon friend landed next to her with a werewolf and a fairy-blood human on his back. "You got us! I'll be darned if we let Snowuption help Ein." Said the dragon.
"Indeed, we won't let you do this alone. We got this!" Said the Fairy-blooded woman. The wolf child just howled, causing everyone to laugh. But then someone gripped the human child's hand. "You got me too," Said the Witch. Both girls held each other's hands and stared at the battle awaiting them, and nothing persuaded them to let go.

Tao emerged from the pool gasping for air and she splashed around like she was a fish. She looked around the cave and saw no one there, all that was in the cave was her, the pool, the lights, and the prophecy's on the wall. And just as Tao got out of the pool a new prophecy formed right next to hers.
Beware the Original Night Stalker, Beware the Stalker of Dreams.
Find the girl who cheats and lies, do so and unlock the skies.
Find the boy who says he's dumb and he will teach you how to have fun.Search for the dragon of star white, find him and you'll be granted wings of flight.Search for the fairy who's not what she seems, for she can tell your destiny. Finally, find the human child of blond, she will teach you how to move on.Together the five pillars will bid the war gone.
Beware the Werewolf of Gold, for the book that he holds controls the world.
A war is coming to shake the Earth, Werewolves and Dragons against the land.He controls the Dragon Tribes like a puppet,And only the pillars can cut the string.
He will take what you hold dear, along with your world.
Beware the Werewolf of Gold, because he is the Stalker of Dreams. He has come for a war, and to see your world burn.
Frightened, Tao ran up the coiled stone path back to the outside world. It was getting dark, just about sunset. Instead of running through the woods (which was Tao's favorite thing to do), she jumped into the air and flew back to her village.
Stormmover... that's dads name, oh for the love of dragons everywhere something bad is going to happen! Did mom know? Wait, is Raindrop moms name? She never told me- Focus Tao! Mom must've known, that scroll was probably the reason she was so mad when I took it! She's hiding it from dad! Oh god, oh golly gosh. I have to get home, I have to save mom and dad, I have to- But Tao's suddenly stopped her thoughts just as she physically stopped when she reached the great tree which was her home. And peeking through a window she saw and heard her parents arguing.
"How long have you been hiding this scroll from me Raindrop?" Asked Stormmover. So Raindrop IS moms name... thought Tao.
"It just got here today, Tao tried to take it from me earlier," Raindrop admitted, "for gods sake you're the chief, you have a town to protect!"
"You're right about that. I am the chief, and if King Ignis invites me to his castle for an urgent meeting then I must go! Raindrop you know one of my duties is negotiating with the Volcano Royal Family." Stormmover explained, opening up a chest on the other side of the room facing away from Raindrop and Tao.
"Why now? He could have invited you some other time, why does he want you there tomorrow? Why then? Why have you still not taught me to read yet!" Raindrop argued.
"Raindrop please... you'll wake half the village up." Stormmover pleaded.
"Well I'm sorry if I want answers! You have a tribe and a family to think about and I don't trust this new 'King Ignis'. What happened to King Blizzard? He didn't die did he?" Raindrop asked.
"No he's alive, he just gave up being king and representing the entire dragon race and just being king of the Ice dragons. He was never meant to be king anyways, it was just a lucky coincidence that he ruled for so long. Though I'll admit I liked King Blizzard, he was a good dragon king. He really leaded all the dragons with pride and neutrality. If Ignis is related to good ol' Blizzard then we can only hope for the best as of right now." Stormmover explained some more.
When Stormmover turned around to face Raindrop again Tao saw that her father was wearing so much jewelry it was almost insane. She had on multiple necklaces, an erring on her left ear, a few rings on her claws (though Tao only saw that briefly), and even an armband that looked like a dragon was wrapped around her arm! Not to mention a bracelet like object on one of her two horns.
"If you keep putting on more jewels you wont be able to fly." Raindrop complained.
"Raindrop I know you don't like it when I'm gone for more than a day but this is important, therefore I need to look my best. While I'm gone you're the chief. Come on my beloved mango eater, I'll be back before the week is up. I can promise you that." Stormmover said, giving Raindrop a hug.
"Fine, but if you don't come back I'm sending a search party after you. And I'm not the one who's explaining this to Tao, you better tell her before you leave." Raindrop said.
"Alright dear, I love you. And don't do anything stupid while I'm away." Stormmover warned.
"Ditto." Raindrop joked.
Yet as Stormmover opened the door and stepped outside to take flight Tao was there. "Oh, Tao! I thought you where still in the cave."
"Yeah well, I saw the future and I didn't like what I saw. And I heard everything, so you don't need to explain." Tao summed up.
Stormmover let out a sigh of relief. "That's good, well Tao you heard what I said, I hope I don't have to repeat myself."
"No dad, but while I was in the prophecy pool I saw something... something I think you might want to stay for." Tao said.
"Alright, I got some time. What is it Tao?" Stormmover asked.
"Well... in the future I heard this Werewolf say that he captured you! And he and his army where going to burn down our forest! There was this whole war too, and a prophecy! I saw it with my own eyes!" Tao said.
"Me? Captured? Ha! I'm not laughing at you my little hatchling, its just that nothing can capture me. Especially a werewolf, we're almost twice their height!" Stormmover boasted.
"Dad you don't understand, he had an army of dragons. All tribes, Volcano, Ice, Steel, Forest, Shadow, Sea, all of them!" Tao explained.
"All of them?" Stormmover asked.
Tao thought for a moment, trying to remember what she saw. "No not all of them, I didn't see any Space or Sand dragons like in the books. And I didn't see any Scholar dragons that's for sure. But he even had Sky dragons on his side, and they never leave their floating city!"
"Sky dragons eh?" Stormmover rubbed her chin with her claw. "Alright, I'll bring this up to Ignis, he'll never let this 'war' happen, not when he's in charge. If there's one thing to be known about us Rouges its that whatever we say is true because no other dragon tribe has anything similar to the prophecy cave."
"Okay dad... just be careful okay? Maybe mom is right about this one, maybe this war is just a few days away!" Tao pleaded.
"I will... and to leave you off on a positive thought." Stormmover closed her eyes and touched her forehead, "I predict that two days from now my fairy friend named Cassie Rose will come to visit. Oh! And she'll bring some friends! Its a shame I wont be around to say hello."
Stormmover opened her eyes and gave Tao a hug. "Be a good girl alright? And listen to your mother she's the chief until I get back."
"Yes dad!" Tao said cheerfully.
"Okay, I'll see you in a few days my little hatchling!" Stormmover said as she broke the hug.
Tao waved as her father flew away from the village and over the woods, almost as if she was flying into the sunset. And at first she though her dad was just kidding with the whole 'fairy friend' thing. But she wouldn't be sure until two days later...
