Chapter 11: Dragon Lessons

Note: Now you have to wait and see if Stampy gets out of the inferno alive >:D I'm so evil! Hey it gives me and Ethan (my co-writer. I don't even tag him anymore) a chance to explain more into this world. Plus I'm behind, be grateful.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was almost a whole month since the gang was back in New Growler. And at first Stacy was worried for Stampys well-being. Dan and Axel thought she was in Denial because of how depressed she seemed. Though in reality she was focused about getting Ein, for the continents sake. And when they group got to dragon territory... well things where scary at first.
Dragons have an excellent sense of smell like werewolves so of course Stacy, Dan, and Axel would be greeted with strange stares by dragons. And it only got worse, some dragons looked really threatening; with their big claws and sharp teeth. Not only that, but dragon culture was different than humans. They spoke in different languages.
Once while barely entering the great dragon city (ironically build around a volcano) two dragons noticed them. One dragon with bright red scales said, "Homines? Vivi homines?"
To which the other (with scales of steel) responded, "Si si! Umani, vivi!"
The first one gave a quick glace to the humans in and their little cart, but then turned back to it's friend. "Putaverunt se omnia mortua essem!"
The Steel dragon nodded vigorously. "Anche a me! Pensi che il re lo sappia?"
The red dragon lowered its head and sighed, "Spero ita..."
(Translation:
Red Dragon: People? Living human beings?
Steel Dragon: Yes, yes! Humans, live!
Res dragon: I thought they all died?
Steel dragon: Me too! Do you think the king knows?
Red dragon: I hope so...)
Of course no one knew what they were saying, so the group passed by. Unaware that they where the first people these dragons have seen. And it wasn't long before more dragons stopped to look at them, or started whispering to each other in a language they don't understand.
Apparently news spread to the dragon king and he send soldiers to brings these 'humans' to his palace. Well, Lukas assumed that since a moment later they where surrounded by four dragon guards. And you have no idea how big dragons where compared to humans.
Art by: Joy Ang, who works with Tui T Sutherland, who owns the picture basically... copyright... uhh don't steal kids.
Though not that type of dragon. Sand dragons only live in deserts, which there are none of on this continent. So sadly, they are extinct. But that's not the point. Imagine being faced by one of those giants. Now imagine having four of those giants with armor, weapons, and the ability to breathe fire, standing in front of you and yelling at you in a language you don't understand.
Fortunately one dragon did speak English... sort of. "Human," he said, his voice gruff, "follow. Or die!"
"We should follow them..." Gabriel suggested.
To which Lukas agreed, "Good plan."
"Sta 'zitto!" Another dragon solider shouted.
So they followed against their will. A group of humans, and secret werewolves, and the wagon, and boxer the horse was led into the great dragon palace. As much as Petra, Jesse, Jess, Axel, and Dan wanted to fight back, they realized that they had no chance against dragons.
But they'll admit, the palace had something that at least interested each of them. They passed by a library, weapons room, and even got a faint smell at the kitchen. But the worst was yet to come, for there was the throne room, and in it was the dragon king.
Two soldiers opened the door and a third stayed behind, the one who could speak human and werewolf language led them inside. And yes, the horse and wagon was there too.
The throne room was this massive corridor. A red carpet let from the entrance all the way to the throne itself, which was made out of steel and gold. Though there where humongous golden curtains that limited the room to the carpet and some of the stone floor. To Lukas' guess, three dragons could walk side by side. But he had a hunch that the room was bigger than it was.
"Qui audet intrare meo regno esses!" The king roared. His voiced boomed throughout the room, confirming Lukas' theory that the room was more than just a corridor. Though the king didn't look at the soldier.
The solider stuttered but the king roared again. "Miles? Quare es vos conturbant me?"
"King dragon," said the soldier his voice trembling, "Human, many human."
The king finally turned around and saw the tiny humans. "Oh, you are dismissed. Vade."
The soldier bowed and scampered away out of the room. Now it was just the group and the dragon king. And Petra had her gun at her back, loaded, and ready to accidentally start a war.
"Put the gun down tiny human. I am no threat to you." Said the king.
"You speak English?" Lukas asked.
"Why yes, I am a king I must learn all languages. You have no reason to fear me or my dragons. We've never seen humans in our domain before. This is a first in a thousand years!" The king explained.
The dragon king got out of his throne and stretched his wings. The king was a darker red dragon, but he was covered in gold necklaces and jewelry. From the crown to his head to the tip of his tail, any part of him screamed 'I'm a king!'
"I must apologize for any inconveniences you've seen on your way, it must be hard to understand our customs. Hmm... you know I've always wanted to show this... you don't mind if I give you a little tour wont you? You can leave the horse little man, it's safe in here."
Lukas got off the wagon, Jesse and Stacy getting out of the wagon too. "Oh there's a lot of you! I'd thought I would never live to see the day! So many humans! Sorry, I'm just exited." The king apologized and pulled on a rope, which lifted the curtains. What was behind the curtains revealed twelve statues, six on each side. And chandeliers suddenly lit up on the ceiling. Though there was one extra pedestal on the right side which held no statue.
The dragon king turned to his right  (which was really the left) and pointed to the first statue. It looked almost alive, with it's colors and such. "An ice dragon," the king explained, "as much as I hate them, they're special. They breathe ice you know. I never met an ice dragon but I hear they're really stubborn. The slightest touch of one of their scales and any being that isn't a dragon will die. Unlike me and a lot of other tribes they speak a different dragon language, Icelandic. You can guess where they live."
They kept looking at the different statues, the dragon king telling them facts about each one.
Forest dragons: Though they prefer jungles these dragons are well known with fairies. Hell forest dragons protect the outside of the fairy forest! Although they where originally from the jungle they can survive in any place with lots of trees. Like chameleons they can change their scale colors and make them into different patterns. They do this to blend in and to express their feelings. It is unknown if they can use fire, though unlikely because then they would burn down their homes.
Sea dragons: These dragons are like fish, they have gills, webbed claws, and use a array of clicks and whistles to communicate. These dragons are the only type that can breathe in water, and they actually prefer to be in water than on land. Yet everyone loves these creatures, except fairies. Why? Well the great seahorse/fairy war of course! The sea dragons obviously sided with the Seahorses, they even helped them overthrow mermaids! Yes, mermaids where real, though no one knows if they're extinct or in hiding. You can blame the sea dragons for that. And because of the war, forest dragons are their greatest enemies.
Sky dragons: Like the name suggests they live in the sky, on clouds to be specific. They have this ability where they can walk on clouds. Sky dragons (unlike the humans of sky city) actually know that there are people below. They might seem passive but a word of warning, their not. They have a gladiator arena where they fight each other for entertainment, but what else can they do? They can only stay in the sky and they believe that it's taboo to go onto the actual soil (but they could if they wanted to, their just afraid). But why would they want to leave? And sometimes, they can control the weather. By control, it's more like start it but can't control it. Hurricanes and tornadoes are caused by sky dragons.
Steel dragons: The second most common of the dragon tribes, these dragons are born extremely weak. When their born they look like little pink blobs and over time they get stronger scales, so strong in fact that they're made of steel. These dragons are used for manual labor, and once they where used as slaves, though no longer. Unlike the other tribes who speak in Latin, these dragons speak in their own slang language called Italian. Thought it's similar to Latin, just different in some ways. Yet they always hide in the shadows of their masters, not through choice, but through force. Even the youngest of steel dragons have their masters to serve, does it surprise you that they can't read and write?
Volcano dragons: The dragon king is a volcano dragon. Their the most common and are your typical dragon. Breathe fire, fly, greedy, etc. Though volcano dragons look a lot like sky dragons, too often you can't tell them apart. The one way you can tell a volcano dragon from a sky dragon is that volcano dragons can control their body temperature, and their emotions are all over the place, like a volcano. Volcano dragons actually lay their eggs in volcanoes, and when they hatch the swim around in the lava. Humans call it bad parenting, but volcano dragons are immune to magma (aka lava).
Sand dragons: These dragons are uncommon but for a good reason. On other continents where there are deserts sand dragons rule. Yet the one Lukas and his friends are standing on right now has no deserts, so there are no desert dragons. Some believe they are extinct while others (like Gabriel) believe that if you see a sand dragon you have to make a wish. But sand dragons aren't magical, if anything they're the opposite of magical. (refer to the picture earlier to see what a sand dragon looks like)
Aether/Shadow dragons: These two tribes go claw in claw. But Aethers are older so lets start there. Aether dragons look more like giant birds than dragons because they have feathers instead of scales and they also have giant bird wings. Aether dragons where created to protect Notch but ended up being the best friends (or pets in some cases) to angels. Shadow dragons on the other claw where only created thanks to a story from the bible.
When Lucifer was banished from heaven with all of his angels he became the devil. All the angels that fell with him became demons, this included a handful of Aether dragons. These Aether dragons ripped off their feathers and Lucifer (now the devil) couldn't give them scales. So instead he gave them shadow like forms, where they could transform their bodies into any shape to help collect dragons souls. No one knows if these dragons have a solid shape, except the devil but he isn't giving out any clues.
Draconids: Seeing this statue would make any person confsued (Lukas, Stacy, and the others being some of them). Draconids are what happens when a dragon mates with a human. Draconids aren't dragons rather humans with dragon powers. Like; breathe fire, have super strength, and float. They don't fly but they can float. And depending on who their dragon parent was (aka what tribe) sometimes they also can be able to speak to animals or hold their breath for a really long time.
Scholar dragons: This tribe is actually extinct, and they created Draconids. Scholar dragons are really, really smart (hence the name), but they are so stubborn and so rude it's ridiculous. They never leave their library and they are super weak. They can barely do things on their own, like cook, or bathe. This is why steel dragons where slaves, slaves to the scholar dragons. An important fact to know is that scholar dragons wear these giant clocks that cover their whole bodies, also their sexist. They believed that females aren't as smart as the males, so they banished all the adult females, and ate the children and eggs. Because of this they realized that there wouldn't be any future scholar dragons, so they raped human women because of how desperate they where. It was their selfishness that caused their tribe to fall. Yet they where the reasons most tribes speak Latin, and all of the hidden knowledge they wrote down is in their hidden library... somewhere.
Space dragons: There isn't much to say about these dragons except that they live in space and how many of creatures can say they've been to space? All we know about these creatures is that their magical, they put up the constellations, and whenever they fart a star is born... or is it a galaxy?
As the dragon king explained the dragon types to everyone (Axel, Dan, and Jesse laughing at the space dragons), Lukas was staring at the lonely pedestal. "What's this for?" he asked.
The dragon king carefully stepped over to him. "That is for the Zodiac dragons, their said to be the first ever dragon tribe but no one knows what they look like. Space dragons are relatives to them, but very distant. We don't even know if their actually real or just a legend, but I believe their real, their probably doing something really important right now."
As if she had an epiphany, Jess turned to her brother and whispered something into his ear. "Don't we need a dragon scale for that potion?"
"You're right sis!" Jesse whispered back. He went up to the king and tapped his claw and he was greeted with two snake eyes staring at him.
"Yes little... bone man? What's going on here?" The king asked in confusion.
"Well sir, I hope you don't mind me asking but can we have one of your scales? It's for... and experiment." Jesse lied.
The king thought for a moment then smiled, "I can't pull a scale off me, but I do have a box of some of my old scales that shed off me. Will that work?"
Jesse looked at his sister and when he saw her nod he said, "Yes your highness."
"Wunderbar! I will have one of my servants fetch you a scale," The king said then turning to Lukas, "if you don't mind me asking, would you stay for dinner?"
"Depends what will you be serving?" Axel asked, but he was hit in the stomach by Dan.
"We mostly eat meats, fish, sometimes fruits. I'm not a selfish king you know, I eat with all my scholars as equals. And I believe that a fairy general is coming today. This is a once in a lifetime offer you know... Mr Lukas I leave the decision to you."
Before Lukas could answer, Petra rounded everyone up into a group meeting. "Are we sure we can trust this guy? I mean, he's a dragon!"
"Petra be nice, he seems to be a nice guy." Jess said.
"And he's offering us free food! I can't handle another day without meat, I'll go insane!" Axel complained.
"I agree with Axel." Dan agreed.
"We do need to stock up on food again, this is the third time this whole journey. We would've been more resourceful with our food if someone didn't keep gobbling up the food!" Gabriel pointed out.
"Leave Axel alone Gabriel." Jesse defended Axel.
"Regardless, we need that fairy blessing. We have the book, we'll get the scale and the blessing, we can use a piece of Jesse's shirt for the personal item, all we need is to request a horse liver and bass eggs. Then we mix them all together and boom! We're done, Jesse and I are back to life." Stacy said.
Lukas walked away from the group and towards the king of dragons. "We'll be there."
~~~

It was three hours after the gang met the dragon king and it was already dinner time. The table was somewhat of a rectangle. The longest sides where where the scholars and mages sat, and the short side was where the king sat with his special guests (the other short side was removed so that servants could bring in the food).

Since the humans where smaller than the dragons they had to sit on the table, though they didn't mind. The sat on the kings left side and the king was nice enough to cut some of his food small enough for his guests. On the kings right side was another dragon, a forest dragon who was here with the fairy general. The fairy was so small the king could barely see him, and is small enough to fit in a humans hands.

While Axel was gobbing down a chicken leg, Gabriel was embarrassed that he was friends with him and was tempted to go back to Boxer, his horse. Everyone had their own little meal, but Jess and Jesse had a plan. Jess (carefully) stood up and made her way over to the fairy general. "Hello," she said, "if you don't mind sir can I talk to you."

The fairy looked up from his peace of lettuce and nodded. Jess smiled trying to look friendly and said, "Well I heard that fairies can do blessings, is that correct?"

The fairy nodded and Jess continued, "I was wondering if I could have your blessing?"

The fairy general turned to his dragon friend and spoke in some strange fairy language. To which the dragon translated, "He said no."

"But why not?"

The fairy spoke in his strange language again and the dragon translated. "Because, we don't know if you're on their side. We might have to put up with you but it takes a lot out of a fairy to bless water. Sorry but that's how it is."

Jess thought for a moment then came up with the perfectly reasonable lie. "Well I'm not that cultured in fairy affairs, but I'm sure you're fighting for a good reason. But the reason I need your blessing so badly is because... well... my brother is dying. He's the whole reason I traveled all over the land with my friends, is to find a fairy. Only blessed fairy water can save his life, please general fairy, this is all I ask."

The fairy mumbled some things and nodded to her. "He agrees," the dragon said, "but you need a cup or pot of water in order for him to bless it."

Jess nodded and scurried over to the rest of the group, picked up a chalice filled with water, and carefully scurried back. And Jess watched in amazement as the fairy worked his magic, he was speaking in his fairy language but it almost seemed that glitter came from his lips. And when he was done he covered the fancy cup with a napkin, using a thin piece of lettuce to make sure the napkin stays in place.

He handed the chalice to Jess and she bowed. "Thank you General. May you win your war."

He spoke again and all the dragon said was, "Thank you." And Jess walked back to her friends.

"I got the fairy blessing. What's next?" She asked.

"No offense Jess but I didn't even notice you where gone." Gabriel said.

Stacy sighed, "Bass eggs, and horse liver."

"I already asked for the eggs, we just need someone to ask for the liver." Axel announced, proud of helping.

As everyone was deciding on who would ask for the liver Petra got up and spoke to the king. "Um. You're highness?" She asked.

The king was in the middle of eating some sort of cow because it's leg was hanging out of his mouth. "Hm?"

"If you don't mind, my friends and I would like a horse liver. It's a... human thing." Petra explained.

The king finished chewing and raised his left paw and a Steel dragon came rushing over. "Sì sua altezza?"

"Get our guests a horse liver. I don't care where you get it, just get it!Fegato di cavallo!"

The servant nodded and rushed off to get a horse liver. And the next few minuets pasted by rather quickly, because a jester came in and started doing tricks. But then when the servant actually came back he had the liver on a little plate. When he put it down in front of humans he looked to the king and said, "Signore, non potremmo mandare qualcuno fuori per prendere il fegato. Quindi abbiamo ucciso il cavallo nella tua stanza del trono."

The king had a shocked look on his face, then it turned to anger. He grabbed the servants ear and leaned over the table and whispered, "È meglio trovare un altro cavallo per questi umani, uno vivente! Vai, trova un altro cavallo. ADESSO!"

The king dropped the Steel servant on the floor. "Si-si signore!" He stammered, then scampering away. If you leaned a certain way, past the jester and the clowns, you could see him panicking to the other servants.

"King dragon, what was that about?" Lukas asked.

"Don't worry about it Lukas, mayor of the humans. There was a small fire in the kitchen. Nothing our staff cannot handle." The king explained. Over the past few hours he learned all of their names.

While the king was distracted, Stacy leaned over to Dan. "Dan, what did you do with that magic ball?"

"Hm? I left it with Stampy in New Growler." Dan responded.

"What! Why?" Stacy asked, mad at her adopted son.

"I thought Stampy could use it when he wakes up! To, you know, check on us."

". . . you have a point. Still you can't just leave a relic in a defenseless place. What if the Growler werewolves find it? There won't be a New Growler!"

"The town has grown a lot in six years, you'd be surprised Mom." Dan said.

Stacy finally let it drop, but then the king called everyone to attention by tapping what seemed to be a human sword on his cup (though it was the ancient dragon grail, only to be used by kings and queens).

"My friends, I know you all hate it when I speak English, though I know you can understand me," He said, his voice echoing throughout the dinning room, "I would like to thank our special guests, who came here all the way from the human lands and fairy forest to greet us. Thank you Mayor, Lukas of the humans, and General Firefly of the fairy army. It's truly an honor to have you both here on this day."

General Firefly spoke in his classic fairy language, and his dragon comrade translated. "The General is very thankful that the fairy clan can trust this city and the dragon king to help us when the world requires him. And a little prayer for one of the female humans sibling, the general knows how you feel."

Jess felt a little bit of shame for tricking him but she did what had to be done. Then Lukas spoke up, "Carpe Diem..."

"Carpe Noctem." Stacy corrected.

"What?" He asked, though a whisper.

"You said Seize the Day. It's night so it's Carpe Noctem." She explained.

"Since when did you speak Latin?" Jesse asked budding in on the conversation.

"I only know how to say seize the day and seize the night." she said.

"I believe what our human friends are trying to say is Carpe diem et noctem. Debemus carpe prandium!" The king cheered. And the dragons cheered with him, and so did General Firefly and the humans.

But what the humans didn't see was that all their ingredients for the potion was taken by a man in a black clock that covered his whole body. When they finally did notice everyone was sitting back down.

"Where's the stuff?" Jess asked.

"Yeah... who has the stuff?" Jesse asked.

"You need to be more specific, what stuff?" Gabriel said.

"Oh yeah. The potion stuff! Who has it?" Axel pointed out.

"Petra where is it?" Lukas said.

Though Petra (who didn't like to be targeted for a crime she has not done) pointed at Dan. "Dan where is it?"

Dan gasped, "Why do you think it's me!"

"Because you always find important things near other important things." Stacy said. Though it was true.

As everyone started bickering amgonst themselves Lukas noticed something. The person with the clock, and he was holding a watcher pitcher in his hands. "Wait... who's that?" Lukas asked.

"Oh, he's a spirit sent from the great Notch himself! He showed up a few days ago and we've been talking business ever since!" The king explained.

Though the man completely ignored Lukas and walked over to Jesse and Stacy, but he couldn't concentrate on the man because the king kept speaking to him. So Petra, with her hunter skills, watched the man. An she watched him fake trip and spill the contents on the pitcher on Stacy and Jesse. "Hey!" Jesse yelled.

But Stacy stood there for a moment. I'm a ghost... this should've faded right through me... what is this stuff? she thought. Then Jesse screamed and she knew what the substance was. Remember how Jesse has some skin missing? Well it magically started to grow back over the bones. "This is really weird! What's even happening?" Jesse screeched.

Stacy on the other hand felt suddenly ill and she fell to her hands and knees. One moment she was fine, the next it felt like when she was a young girl again. It feels exactly like the werewolf transformation...

The dragons just stared, confused as to what was going on. Then they all saw who the man in the clock was. He let out an evil laugh and flipped back his hood, two werewolf ears twitched as they where hidden for so long. It was Ein.

Dan instantly drew out his sword and charged for the evil werewolf, but his enemy was too quick and Dan was now rolling across the table, his sword no longer in his hand. Ein picked up the sword and laughed for a second. "The wolf sword. I'd never though I'd see you again. Did you know Milo tried to kill me with this sword? He made it just to kill me, and yet, he failed. Just like how you've failed, Daniel."

"You make all werewolves look bad!" Axel shouted, ears and tail un-tucked for all to see.

"Axel... don't... Olivia..." Stacy pleaded, but it was weak.

Axel was running at Ein in full speed, running on all fours. As he lunged up to attack, Ein used the Wolf Sword against his enemies. One moment Axel was eating food, and the next? He had a sword going through his chest. "Foolish pup."

Axel fell to the ground as Ein pulled the sword from his chest. Axel cough and spoke in a weak voice. "I'm sorry Olivia... I guess I'm not coming home..." and then Axel ceased to exist... at least from our world.

Gabriel and Jess where protecting Jesse and Stacy, Dan struggled to get up, Lukas was trying to convince the dragon king this is all a misunderstanding, and Petra cursed at Ein. "Why are you alive? I killed you! Whatever, I did it once I can do it again!"

As Petra lifted her gun to shoot, Lukas shouted, "Don't!" And yet she did shoot. But before the bullet could reach Ein, the dragon king blocked the bullet with his claw, and he let out a loud hiss. "Illorum carpe! Seize them you fools!"

Dragons came rushing in with spears and swords (which where huge!), and one dragon (the Steel servant from earlier) brought in a bird cage and they where all thrown inside. Except for Axel who was... eaten... eaten by the dragon king.

"Axel!" His friends yelled in unison.

Ein laughed and Gabriel gave him a cold, hard, stare. "When we get out of this, we'll kill you!"

Though Ein shook his head. "I'm afraid not. You see I planned this whole thing out. I knew you would find my book, I knew that human Stacy liked so much would try to bring her back, and yes I know. Then I knew you would go to Growler and those fools who chased me out would tell you everything they knew. I even knew the boy was sent from hell to collect those souls, oh he's going to be punished for sure. While you all where off traveling I was here with my new best friend the dragon king. If anything bad happens to me... like an attack? Yeah you aren't getting out of there. But I must thank you for my book back." Ein mocked the group by pulling the book out from under his clock.

"Take them away... and find me some bandages..." said the king. He looked at Lukas and shook his head disappointingly, he trusted those humans.

Before the Steel servant could take the cage away Stacy muttered, "You sneaky bastard... one day... one day we'll get you..."

Ein smirked in response and knelt down next to the cage, he was looking down at Stacy. "Little pup you cannot win. Humans can never beat werewolves and dragons and fairies, you're weak. But I always saw potential in you. It was me, Stacy. I was the one who bit you all those years ago. And between us... you're little 'mate' is next." The evil werewolf stood up and tapped the cage lightly with his new sword, and the Steel dragon lifted the cage and started to walk away.

And all anyone could hear was his evil laugh. New Growler was in danger... the war is about to begin.
