Chapter 46: He's only 5/9

For those who don't know what line dancing is here's a video.

Katie
"Iz, can you turn on the Bluetooth?" I ask.

"No, no, no you're not playing your music, Kat," Tyler says sternly from the driver's seat.

I give Tyler a pouty face. "Why not?"

"Because I want to listen to Rihanna!" Tyler states.

Wyatt chuckles and I give him a blank look.

"We are driving to a country bar and you want to listen to Rihanna," I deadpan.

Tyler nods his head and I sigh as I unbuckle my seatbelt.

I lean forward and press the Bluetooth button on his console.

My phone is still connected from the other day.

Cowboy Casanova by Carrie Underwood starts blasting.

Izzy giggles and Tyler sighs while running a hand down his face.

"You better take it from me, that boy is like a disease." Izzy and I yell the lyrics.

Tyler holds up his middle finger causing us to sing louder.

"He a, a good time cowboy Casanova leaning up against the record machine. He looks like a cool drink of water but he's candy-coated misery." At this point, we're all belting the lyrics.

After a forty-minute drive, Tyler parks the car.
I check my purse to make sure I have everything and Wyatt takes that as his opportunity to open my door.

I give him a deadpan look. "Thanks, cowboy."

"Oh, you are so welcome, baby," Wyatt says smirking.

We arrived a few minutes before they open so we have to outside.

Tyler gets his ID out and Wyatt's eyebrows scrunch together. "There is no way you're six feet tall."

Tyler's face flushes red and I bite my lip to keep from laughing.

"Well, I am." Tyler snaps.

Wyatt shakes his head. "Man, I'm around 6/2 and like a whole head taller than you."

I can't hold it in anymore. "Tyler lied on his ID, he's only 5/9."

Izzy laughs and pats Tyler's back. "It's okay babe."

"It's not a big deal."

"So, I said I'm six feet instead of 5/9 who cares?" Tyler mumbles.

"You could have said your 5/11 instead of six feet tall that would be more believable," I say grinning.

Tyler just glares at me.

When they open the security guard checks our IDs. When he looks at Tyler's he does a double take.

"Dude, there's no way your six feet tall."
We all burst out into laughter.

I look around and it still looks the same as It did when we came with Derek.

They moved the tables to the sides of the room and in the middle is a huge hardwood dance floor.

We follow Tyler to a table. "I'm going to order us some fries," Izzy says as she walks over to the counter.

About ten minutes later a waiter brings out four orders of fries.

Wyatt eats all of his and steals some of mine. At this point, I don't even care.

"Mark said since there's not many people here he can play any songs we like," Izzy says once she comes back from the bathroom.

"Mark?" Wyatt asks.

"Mark is the DJ and Izzy's stepdad is good friends with him."

This will be fun. We can request any song we want.

I turn towards Wyatt with a big smile. "You ready to dance, cowboy?"

Wyatt's eyes widen. "Uh, I think I'll just watch."

Goodness gracious, he is so hot in his cowboy hat. I'll be bating girls off him all night.

I dramatic frown. "Nope, you're dancing, Just Wyatt."

For the first time, I have a partner that's not Derek, and I'm not letting it go to waste.

Wyatt crosses his arm across his chest. "Kate, I'm a terrible dancer. I'll just embarrass you."

My smile softens. "Wyatt, do you think I care about what other people think?"

"Besides you're my boyfriend for the night and I want to dance with him."

Wyatt's ears turn red and he looks down. "Okay. Just prepare for your toes to be blue by the time we leave."

I grab his hand and pull him out of the seat and towards the dance floor.

"Katie, what song do you want to start with?" Izzy yells across the restaurant.

I think for a moment. "Trouble by Travis Tritt."

Izzy and Tyler walk over to us. "We can choose any song for the next hour."

I stare into Wyatt's hazel eyes and the song starts.

Wyatt
We have been line dancing for almost an hour.
That's also how long it takes me to learn three different dances.

When I say learn, I mean I can somewhat get all the moves right.

I can do the dances to Trouble by Travis Tritt, Good Time by Alan Jackson, and Watermelon Crawl by Tracy Byrd.

To be honest, it's pretty fun. But watching Katie laugh and smile when I messed up made it better.

Katie is amazing, it's like she's been doing it forever. Sometimes I would get so mesmerized watching her that I would forget what I was doing.

"I've got to sit down honey, my feet are about to fall off," Tyler tells Izzy.

"Yeah, I guess we should take a break," Izzy says.

We sit down and Izzy walks over to the DJ to thank him.

I sigh and wrap my arm around Katie. "Wyatt you weren't lying, you suck at dancing," Tyler says grinning.

Katie glares at Tyler. "He does not. He's just not very good at it."

My heart jumps at Katie defending me. It was cute.

Tyler and I give her the same blank stare.

"Fine, you suck," Katie grumbles.

"I'm going to run to the bathroom," Tyler says getting up.

"I told you teaching me dance would be hard," I whisper in Katie's ear.

I notice her shiver the slightest.

She has a different smell today, it's more warm smelling, almost like sugar cookies.

She leans away from me. "It was fun and don't get too comfortable we still have a long night of dancing ahead."

I groan. "More?"

"Kate, I don't how much more I can take."

Katie smiles. "Get over it. Just because you can't master dancing in five minutes doesn't mean you can't dance."

"What do you mean?"

"Everything you do you're great at. So, knowing you have a hard time dancing means your human and not a robot that's always perfect."

I smirk and poke her arm. "So, you think I'm perfect?"

Katie rolls her eyes. "That's what you got out of that sentence?"

"Guess whose boyfriend broke up with them because he caught her swapping spit with another guy?" Izzy asks as she slides into the booth and Tyler plops down beside her.

Katie thinks for a moment. "I don't know?"

Izzy smiles bigger. "McKenzie James!"

Katie gasps and Tyler rolls his eyes as he takes a sip of his Sprite.

"No way!" Katie exclaims.

"Yep, Tanner caught her going at it behind a trailer with an out-of-state bull rider at the rodeo last weekend," Izzy says wiggling her eyebrows.

I nudge Katie. "Who in the hell are y'all gossiping about?"

"McKenzie is a Stacy in the horse community. She used to ride at our barn till Izzy pissed her off and she moved barns." Katie explains.

"But unlike Stacy, she goes after Izzy more than she does me," Katie says looking at Izzy.

"Tanner deserves much better than her anyway. He had to know she was going to do that. She has messed around with at least every guy in the rodeo circuit." Izzy says with her eyes narrowed.

Katie's face lights up. "That means she going to have to drop out of the endurance ride. She won't have a partner now since Tanner broke up with her."

"In front of everyone after she placed fourth in barrel racing," Izzy adds.

Tyler smiles. "God, I would have paid money to see that."

"Do you think she'll show up here?" I ask.

Katie grins. "She doesn't come here anymore after Izzy threatened to beat her up in the parking lot."

I glance at Izzy with an amused expression. "What?"

"She was making moves on Tyler all night so I told her if she kept on I would give her a black eye."

"Kat left out the part where Izzy did punch her in the face," Tyler adds smirking.

I gasp. "Damn, I'll keep that in mind."

There were a lot of songs mentioned so here's a list of them:
Cowboy Casanova: Carrie Underwood
Trouble: Travis Tritt
Good time: Alan Jackson
Watermelon Crawl: Tracy Byrd
