"Killia! Killia!"

John rushed to me, excited, as he saw me stepping out the door.

"Where are you going?" He asked curiously. "Can I go?"

I patted his head. "No, shit, you can't. I gotta go up there." I stuck a finger up and he looked in that direction.

"I don't see anything," he said brightly.

I rolled my eyes and sighed. "Yeah. I know. Just go to sleep or something. Or eat Rice Krispies. I don't care."

"Mom cares," he told me seriously. His little face was drawn into a frown.

"Whatever. Go do something with your life, shit." I pushed him towards the hallway leading to his room.

After he gave me a cheery good bye and had bounced away again, I turned back to the doors and was about to leave when Ellie's voice began calling my name.

"Killia!" He strode towards me with long steps, his wings fluttering anxiously.

"Yeah, Ellie?" I turned back towards him, swallowing the heaving sigh that had been wriggling in my throat. Jesus Christ. These fairies really wouldn't leave me alone today.

"I need to ask you something, and be aware that it's not a command from your owners, but rather a request from a friend."

I almost snorted. Friend my ass. But instead I pasted a huge smile onto my face and exclaimed,"Sure!" as happily as I could.

He nodded. "Follow me."

dededededeeee

At the moment, I am very much regretting ever eating fairy magic.

"Why the hell do you taste so sour, Ellie? Jesus Christ!" I scratched my tongue, my throat convulsing in disgust.

He looked at me, offended. "I'm two hundred and fifteen, Killia. The older the person, the worse the magic tastes. You should know that by now."

"How would I? I kill people for their souls and blood, not to nibble on their damn magic!"

I spotted a small pool of water on the ground and hastily crawled to it, purifying it with a touch and slurping it up to gargle my mouth.

"You still use some angel magic?" Ellie said, slightly surprised.

I glared at him. "Of courth ah do," I mumbled. Spitting the water out, I sat back on the ground. "I still have some sort of 'light' in me as an angel."

"Hmm." He was no longer interested in me, instead flicking through the book he had brought with him, which contained his family's spells.

"What are we doing, anyways?"

He glanced at me. "My house told me that they would cover you for anything but that they wanted John to become the next successor to the head."

I had been gargling my mouth again, thinking about dinner, when I heard Ellie's last words. I flinched and choked on the water, swallowing it and sending some out through my nose. Coughing, I didn't fail to catch his irritated look.

I had extended his deadline by a month and a few weeks, seeing that he was having problems with his family. The House of Commons, although much stronger than his House of Aster, had readily agreed to Jean's request. I assumed a child with a halfling as his beast was nothing more than a drop in the bucket to them, though I would later find out it was far from it.

But this... was practically murder.

"The successor?! Ellis, are you even aware of what that entails? Are you insane!?" I shouted at him the best I could, wiping water off of my face as I scrambled up.

John as the successor would mean having to partake in any sort of wars or battles. And the human/humanoid world had a lot. It was a deathzone for those who weren't powerful enough.

"Of course I am. This is why I'm doing this. Didn't you notice what you were writing?"

I hadn't. Looking down at the ground, I spotted and immediately recognized the summoning design. More than 80 percent of my own design correlated with it. I slowly began to tremble in irritation as I remembered who this entailed to.

"Ellis, really?" I shivered as another wave of annoyance washed over me.

He observed my appearance, seemingly nonchalant, but I noticed his slightly trembling hands. Confused, I ignored it.

"Even you can't deal with him, huh?" He mumbled. He completely deflated, his expression slightly relieved but also scared. "I thought you could control him, or at least counter..."

"Counter him? What for? It's useless." I growled in anger as I thought of his persistant, infuriating personality.

We were silent for a few moments as we both composed ourselves. I steadied myself on a tree, accidently crunching the trunk to pieces. Ellie quickly made the falling top disappear.

"Why do you have to summon him?"

He looked at me, slightly dazed. "They wanted me to have John keep both of you as his familiars. They seem to think you can control him and keep him in line. This is also why they want him to be the successor. With you as his familiar, any family, even the Alexander family would have to bow down to him."

I stared at the summoning pattern on the ground.

Then I sighed, fury shooting through me as I thought about the decision I was about to make.

"Fine. Let's do this."

Hey guys! Been months since I updated, huh. I hope there are still people who read this.

Both Killia and Ellis are misunderstanding each other. Ellis seems to think Killia is scared of her brother, and Killia apparently is too caught up in her annoyance to notice anything.

Also, John will be going to the academy in a few weeks in their time! For us, it might take a bit longer.

See y'all!
