Origin: The element Mercury is poisonous and of course Ruby's last name is Rose

Opinion: Let's see Ruby and Smirkury....I mean Mercury. This ship is another one I'm not a big fan of. I do ship Mercury with a member of team RWBY but it's not Ruby herself. I feel like these two are just too different. Ruby is sweet and kind and is always willing to help people while Mercury is mean and deceptive and is an assassin so he's more fond of killing people as opposed to helping them. In episode 13 of volume 5 they do get a little interaction but it's just Mercury being a jerk and taunting Ruby before she head buts him. Also Mercury was one of the causes of Yang being eliminated from the Vytal tournament and he was the one who kept Ruby from warning Penny and Pyrrha about their match. So I don't think she'd want to be a with a guy who'd make her sister look bad or hurt her friends. I mean if Mercury got redeemed then maybe they could be friends but I can't see them as a couple.
