Opinion: I used to hate this ship. Gideon was a character that, like Pacifica, I couldn't stand. (Although that could be because every time I turned on Gravity Falls for about a month it was Gideon's debut episode so I just got tired of seeing him.) He was so mean to everyone even going as far as to possess his dad so he would win an election. With Mabel, I don't know she just used to bother me and I couldn't see her and Gideon getting together. At the end of season 2 though when Gideon finally got redeemed and Mabel actually felt sorry for him I started to like this ship. Gideon does care about Mabel in a kind of creepy way and he even said that he and Mabel are destined to be together so I guess you can say it's canon. Mabel just likes every boy she finds is cute so maybe it could've worked out.
