Origin: For disabler both Mercury and Yang are missing some limbs so I guess you could consider them a little disabled.
For gauntlets and greaves one of Yang's weapons is shotgun gauntlet while Mercury's is his prosthetic shotgun legs and greaves are pieces of armor worn to protect the shin.

Opinion: So I mentioned in my Poison Rose ship opinion that I shipped Mercury with one member of team RWBY. Well I've gone through Ruby, Weiss, and Blake and none of them are the one I ship him with. You know what that means...yep I ship this. Now I'm not saying it's like my OTP for them. I actually don't know where I would rank this ship on my ships for Yang. This is my second choice for Mercury though but that's only because I only have two other ships that I like with Mercury so it's not that hard to rank them. I'm getting off track. Anyway yes I like this ship. Now again I will say that Mercury did make Yang look bad at the tournament and he was part of the group that attacked her school but for some reason I can see these two getting together because they're both very similar people. First both of them don't have the best home life. Mercury's father Marcus was an abusive drunk who probably was never there for Mercury when he was younger. Now with Yang yes she had her dad but she mentioned in volume 2 and 5 that her dad took Raven leaving and Summer's death pretty hard and he was mostly teaching at Signal leaving Yang pretty lonely most days as a child. (Tai is still an awesome dad though) I can see Mercury and Yang connecting over their shared bouts of loneliness. As for the second reason of why I ship them let's look at the origin of this ship name. They're both missing some limbs, even though I do think that Mercury's missing his legs because he had to have an amputation due to his injuries as opposed to having his legs cut off, I can see them connecting over that. I do have to admit that I don't see this becoming canon though.
