Origin: Johnathan uses dark type Pokémon. He also has a dark and tortured past but like the edit at the top says meeting Cynthia helped him. Cynthia became the bright spot in his life similar to how the sun can be seen glowing brightly behind the moon during a solar eclipse.

Opinion: If you know me then you know I'm a sucker for ships with people that have dark pasts but still manage to find love. And that's what this ship is. This ship is very cute. Johnathan has had a lot of pain in his life and he has this sort of lone wolf mentality and this drive to make the people who hurt him pay. However when he meets Cynthia he can't help but fall for her. Not just for her looks but also her battle prowess. And Cynthia loves Johnathan no matter what he went through in the past. In another story I read, this one by LillianDuncan Cynthia is far from the perfect beautiful respected champion. In Lilly's story Cynthia was found guilty of a crime she didn't commit. This meant the lost of her champion title and all her Pokémon were taken away. After this she's miserable and doesn't know how she'll recover. Then she meets Johnathan and learns of his pain and they're able to help each other. While this is a different take on the ship it's still cute. Both of them have dealt with terrible things in their life and they're able to help each other get out of their respective dark places. So all in all this ship is quite cute. I also would recommend any of Shadow's books that showcase this ship.
